Great location and beautiful rooms

Batavia wanted to charge us R300 because some of my hair colour got onto a towel. Luckily they took the charge away when we said we don’t mind to pay R300 but we want to take the towel and clean it ourselves.

Location was very good for somebody who likes to be very central, just off the heart of the central tourist area of Stellenbosch. A very neat well-furnished property, rooms as well as public areas. Good lighting in the rooms. Quiet at night as in a side street. Pleasant staff, good security and a good breakfast. Nice easy jog or walk along the river. Relatively easy to reach by car. Once there, once can easily walk the central and university area of Stellenbosch, important given traffic congestion and limited parking.

The pool is tiny, but this is usual when one has a central location in Stellenbosch.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. They parked and pulled out our car for us and assisted with our luggage. They helped us make plans every day and served us a delicious breakfast. The one-way street is very quiet despite being so close to bars and restaurants in the heart of Stellenbosch.

The electrical outlet on my side of the bed didn't hold my plug very tightly so it was sometimes difficult to charge my phone. The other one worked fine, though.

Almost everything, but especially Thando the front desk (or a concierge) was brilliant, who catered all our needs- from valet parking to sorting out breakfast (loved the breakfast).

Parking is a bit of problem as only 4 cars can park inside behind the gate (of course we can park outside but at night the area gets a bit busy, especially on weekend). But I believe the hotel is expanding and will have extra parking space, so I am looking forward to that on my next visit.

Breakfast was great. Location was perfect, close enough to the centre of town, yet still quiet and peaceful. I could park the car and walk wherever I needed, so I didn't have to find parking which was a relief. There are lots of restaurants close buy as well as a supermarket if that's needed. The staff were excellent, Themba is a real asset to this hotel

I can't actually identify what I would have changed at all. Happily everything was very comfortable and as it should be

Sweet breakfast setting very old school. Service was not that fast, the food was good, and the server was very friendly.

I would have liked a pan in the self-service guesthouse to make some flapjacks. But let me be honest I never asked the kitchen am sure they would have been able to help. The service and people were very friendly!

Batavia Boutique Hotel is s treasured Gem. I love the details…. Antique and Vintage deco with s modern twist. The bed was very comfortable. Lights and Wi-Fi stayed on when it was load-shedding. Our vegetarian Breakfast was delicious. The location was perfect… a short walking distance from all the restaurants and shops. The manager on duty was professional, friendly and very accommodating. We enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

Excellent boutique hotel with attentive service. Very comfortable, spacious room and a feeling of being at home. The location is first class, while on a quite road it is a mere 100 meters from the town centre with a great range of restaurants. An interesting point was the location of the safe behind the room entrance door at eye level. Very sensible and obviating the need to crawl into the back of a wardrobe where safes are usually located.

One small issue. The bath mixer had the hot and cold markers incorrectly located. It took a day and a half for us to figure that going cold was indeed hot.

The hotel is locate don a quiet street, reception was warm and friendly and service felt personalised tom y specific needs. Rooms are spacious and clean and offer decent coffee making machines and lights and wifi stayed on in the midst of stage 6 loadshedding

Just a few things you guys need to look at. Cleanliness not up to boutique standards. Old half full ice tea bottle left on bathroom vanity, probably previous guest. Toilet seat broken. Rust marks on duvet cover
