Very nice hotel with superb location - nice view over the whole valley. It was beautiful. Rooms are ok though small bathroom. Nice pool area. Breakfast was very very nice with possibility to sit outside. Mr. Blessing was exceptional.

Be aware that the family rooms are not located in main building but appx. 700 mtr. from the building. Not nice. Staff was ok - but it is a 4**** hotel so you expect a certain kind of standard. Cleaning staff was hanging out by their cars and mopeds in the driveway after work. Furtheremore it is not nice to see the cleaning sitting and smoking outside the cottages, sitting on a pillow from one on the beds, waiting for people to check out :-(

We had a really nice stay at the hotel. The breakfast was very diverse and had a lot to offer. The interior design was cute and the garden pretty and a lovely maintained. We appreciated the recommendations for the wine tasting. Keep up the good work, next time we are there we will definitely come back!

It was nice that there was a spa offering but our room was quite full. Maybe at some point it would be possible to offer it in-house, in a separate area. On our way to the hotel we had some issues with the navigation. Our phone showed us kind of a back entrance but there was no entrance there. Maybe check that again. We would have wished for some blinds at the big windows/door in our room, because you could close the curtains and it was dark inside or you could leave them open and everyone could have taken a look inside.

Nice building - we were actually thinking we will be based in the cottages based on the reviews on booking. But we were lucky and got a room at the Salene hotel (queen room with garden view). Was a very nice room, well equipped, nice balcony and view, and also the breakfast, pool, and parking were located closely to each other. The staff was very friendly and 1 nice guy (called “Happy”) was very kind and helped us with our luggage.

For some reason, even if it looked washed, the bed sheet pillows were yellow and had some stains. Same for the sun beds at the pool. Furthermore, breakfast is from 8-10 o’clock. We arrived at 9:30, and the staff did not seem to have any ambitions for re-fill. Even when asking explicitly for glasses to get the served juice, which were obviously empty, we had to ask several times. Moreover, when checking out, we had wine and fish of the day on the bill which we never had. Just when complaining about this the third time, we have reached a contact person at the reception being responsible.

The place was so quiet and peaceful, if you like to feel like you are away from all the hustle and bustle then this is the place for you, there is even a quiet time rule from 11pm. The gardens are beautiful with lots of chairs and day beds to lie on. The beds were super comfy, the aircon was great, breakfast was more of a cold meats and cheeses kind of affair but very tasty.

The only one thing I would maybe change is to put a single chair in the room, we felt like if we were indoors we had to be lying in bed because there was nothing else to sit on. There were two chairs outside the room but it was super windy the two nights we were there so we spent more time indoors then anything else.

The location is amazing. A beautiful, small but perfectly formed hotel with stunning views. The rooms and reception are nicely styled and the outside space is lovely and well maintained. The continental breakfast spread is wonderful and all of the staff are friendly and helpful.

Whilst the continental breakfast spread is stunning, the cooked option struggles a bit in comparison. It sometimes felt like it had sat there too long getting a bit tepid and soggy.

Outstanding location and views, so peaceful . Breakfast was out of this world , such a huge selection. Pool and spa facilities as well.

Difficulty in booking, reaching by phone. tried to book direct, but couldn’t gee through then emailed told there was no availability yet booking .com showed 2 free rooms so booked through them instead of direct to hotel. We were traveling from Boulders bay and struggled to get there by 7pm when check in closed and check in only available from 2 to 7 , staff not available after 7 Make sure you check in early as difficult to find in the dark and electric gates you need a fob to get through and unable to reach by phone

The property is absolutely stunning, clean, safe and very relaxing. The Salene is in great location and it has the most incredible view of well known wine farms and mountains. The pool was lovely and clean. The staff were very helpful and accommodating.

There were lots of noisy children who hogged the pool all day yet the Salene has a no noise policy which we were quite disappointed by. The water pressure in the shower was not great and there were a few broken umbrellas on the deck which was also disappointing.

We loved staying at The Salene. It is around a 17 mins drive to Stellenbosch and the place is serene and comfy. You’ll find everything you need here. We came in after check in time and this was no problem at all, huge props for this. There’s a few wine farms in the area which are great to visit if you’re not keen on driving too far for one of those. There’s a good variety of breakfast; think of a proper combination of sweet and savory. The rooms are relatively large and the beds are nice too.

It was 10 minutes drive outside of Stellenbosch, but beautiful views. The unit had aircon and wifi, fully equipt kitchen and Nespresso with compostable pods, which we appreciated. The pool was also lovely, but you need to drive/walk the 700m to the hotel. Wood was supplied for braai and bonfire in large firepit bowls.

Our cottage did not have a patio, while all the others did (#6). Aircon also did not function during loadshedding (understandable), but it was just super hot.

What a view! Such a gem of a place. The staff was so helpful. Special mention to Mr. Yamikouni who always took our breakfast request in the morning. The atmosphere is so peaceful. The room was pretty, clean and cosy. Such a little nice garden too. I'll be back for sure when wine tasting/shopping in Stellenbosch.

I really thought all the garden view rooms had bath tubs. They said that room was taken already. Too bad.
