Excellent service - the staff, from the cleaning staff to the security went far above their required duties to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed during our stay. Wonderful atmosphere in the very well renovated and spotless old Cape Dutch style buildings - one could feel part of the history when going staying in the loft rooms! The gardens are exceptionally well-maintained and an absolute pleasure to walk through.
I liked everything! However, some of the rooms only have a bath with a hand shower (if I were younger I would have LOVED the beautiful old style bath tub, but I prefer the ease of getting in and out of a shower nowadays!) so make sure when you book to ask for a room with a shower if that is what you prefer.

Excellent breakfast but since it is served in the same area as the estate also hosts other events, can be (as it was) very noisy. The loft room we stayed in was amazing and very cozy, Mind you there is no privacy between toilet and the room so make sure you are very much at ease with whom you're sharing the room with.
The very limited service schedule - the restaurant and wine tasting opportunities close by 17:00 - prevented us from enjoying one of the desired activities: locally produced wine tasting. Ended up doing that in Stellenbosch restaurants but that was not as intended.

We recently stayed at Weltevreden Estate for 2 nights. We had a lovely time there. It is a beautiful authentic Cape Dutch estate, quietly located a short distance from Stellenbosch, with excellent value for money. There is the opportunity to have breakfast (a la carte) at the accompanying Jonkershuis restaurant, a truly fantastic breakfast!
What we did not realise beforehand is that the restaurant closes at 17:00h, so you do have to get in the car for your dinner, e.g. to Stellenbosch, but that's just a short drive. The rooms are a bit dark though, but we liked the authentic style.

Beautiful place - no questions about that! Our room was nice and cosy with a comfortable bed! Was fully backed up from loadshedding and well secured! Spending time at Weltevreden Estate will make you feel like you're back in the good times of the colonial era - in the good sense of the word! Great experience! Strongly recommend that place to everybody!
- Restaurant serves only breakfast and light lunch. There is no information both on Booking.com and on your official website that you are not serving dinner. Further, all pictures suggest that it is fully operational which is not true. Please adjust it accordingly as this is very important information. - There was no fridge in the room, only a small one shared with 4 other rooms which was filled with wine for 200-250 ZAR per bottle. - The toilet is located inside the room and is separated from the rest of the space only by a free-standing screen. This means that your partner hears and sometimes sees you doing number 1 and number 2. No privacy in this matter. I am mentioning this point as there is no picture showing the actual toilet situation :-)

Tranquil estate , beautiful panoramic views, the gardens are immaculate endless trails of trees. Friendly and helpful staff, Jason the security, the housekeeping and manager Melisa was very accommodative. Fun filled kids carnival. Rooms are equipped, aircon was not 100 percent there was a fan though. Can add a bar fridge. Perhaps a kitchenette A shower for all rooms. Other than that it was a memorable New Year’s Eve

Setting is amazing with very old thatched buildings. Breakfast was exceptional as plenty of choice. Staff were lovely and always helpful. The restaurant meals were also very good though close a little earlier than we would have liked. We had a walking tour in Stellenbosch which was very informative and also went round the Botanical Gardens near the University. Was very busy in Stellenbosch and tricky finding parking spaces. Had a group wine tour with TsibaTsiba which was just great and met some great people - from Yorkshire too !!. Ventured into Cape Town for a trip up Table Mountain, walk round Kirstenbosch and caught a T20 match at Newlands. All interesting experiences. Some lovely vinyards in the area and lunch/snack at The Postcard Cafe at Stark Conde definitely worth it for the setting. This is our second visit to Weltvreden Estate and it was again superb.
The accommodation may be a surprise to some as all your facilities are in one room with just a small screen to hide you whilst on the loo!! The shower door was very difficult to close and I think a tall person may struggle in it. The mirror above the sink was still broken, as said in previous reviews. A little attention to some of the fixtures and fittings wouldn't go amiss. Thankfully there is now air conditioning in the room because as it is in the roof space just under a thatched roof it can become very warm. Despite all this it was very good value.

Great lawns, great restaurant with great breakfast options. Staff had an event and were a bit impatient when taking our orders but the service was not bad. The room was really beutiful (vintage look and feel) but clean. The shower pressure can be improved. The room had every comfort you could need including a bottle of wine you could purchase. Taking walks on the grounds in the summer is a great experience
Nothing. They should warn guests that walking over the bridge that is next to the restaurant will trigger an alarm though should they decide to explore.

What an amazing stay we had! Firstly, Melissa and Sydwell were super nice! Melissa, the manager on duty was kind, with a good eye and ear for detail that she was so attentive that she picked up that it's my birthday and offered me a pleasant gift as a surprise, which made our stay memorable. Really went beyond her call of duty and we appreciate it. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, that they even catered for us despite the fact that's they were closing the restaurant when we arrived. Sydwell was friendly and stayed behind to serve us when his colleagues had ended their shift. He served us with a smile without complaining, which we appreciated. The establishment is versatile, can be used for events, host events such as parties, weddings and braais as there are those different sections. It also has cute chickens and peacocks which gives the place a nice countryside feel.
The restaurant on site closes early, (6pm) sadly so you'd have to go out for dinner. If you are planning to stay in for the evening, you'd have to bring food in, but note that there is no microwave to warm food and no bar fridges to keep leftovers or drinks.

The atmosphere around the estate is quite warm. The staff is also friendly. It was also safe.I arrived late on Friday & left early on Sunday, but it was quiet.
There was no milk ( one in the small cartons) for coffee in the room.I had to buy a cuppachino with powdered milk.I guess the cleaning ladies did see one empty packet I left there. The bathroom sink was leaking,I had to dry it with toilet paper. I informed the cleaning ladies.
