I have never slept so soundly in my life. The white noise of Rio Umia is hypnotic. You just sink into the bed, and never want to leave. Americans were walking around this place shaking their heads at the value of this luxurious old textile facility. We feel lucky to have stayed here supported by such a caring staff. Our waitress at the restaurant introduced us to our new favorite wine. Make sure to take the trail from the hotel downstream to the Roman bridge and beyond. You will want to live here.

Directions to the hotel were vague. TAKE A CAB. It will cost 5 Euro and you will not walk on the highway like we did.

This small hotel is on some of the most gorgeous landscape, both natural and designed, that I’ve ever seen anywhere! The buildings and ruins and pool and rooms are all beautiful. If you ever have the opportunity, stay here. Preferably for 2 nights!

We loved everything! Just a warning for pilgrims in the Camino. The walk here from Caldas de Reis is not safe. It’s really best to take a cab. Know that cabs are not easily available. It took us 2 hours to get one on a rainy morning.

Two Pelgrims friends arrived to Torre do Rio after a very long walking journey and we found an Oasis of peace and comfort. The Hotel and its gardens are just fabulous. We had drinks by the fire before dinner and had an amazing "secreto Iberico" as a main. the hotel is comfortable and cosy with just 10 or 12 rooms perfect size. Breakfast offers variety and its abundant. You wont regret staying here! Well done team Torre Do Rio

Everything was perfect

Absolutely amazing in every way! The location, the resort, the manicured gardens, the living area and fireplace, beds/linens, large bathroom, and wonderful staff! The list could go on, but after finishing El Camino, it was a haven to rest up. Going to sleep with the sound of the waterfall outside our window was so relaxing. Can't wait to return in the future!

Off the Camino trail for sure but so worth it. A friend who had previously done the Camino recommended this place to us and we are glad we took his advice. The buildings and grounds are beautiful!! Stunning. Such a relaxing and tranquil environment. We only got to spend a little time in the pool and walking around before it unfortunately rained while we were there. Great night's rest. Appreciated that dinner was served on the premises. Really good food choices to pick from!! Definitely see us coming back and staying for a longer period of time :)

Minor, minor things: Dinner was a little on the expensive side. Wish breakfast had started earlier.

Everything about this hotel is awesome. Five star luxury comparable with the top hotels in the world, but at a fraction of the price. Beautiful building and surroundings, amazing rooms. Location - a short taxi ride from town. Not ideal for exploring things on foot

The restaurant is good but not quite to the exceptional standard of the hotel - 8/10. Breakfast is great though

By far the best place I stayed at on the Camino. The greenery and the property are spectacular. Additionally the buffet breakfast they offer was amazing. Will definitely return to this property.

Only downside is the location of the property is not exactly close to the Camino so we had to get a taxi to the property, but we didn’t mind.

this place is absolutely incredible! We got a taxi from in town. We are walking the Camino DeSantiago. The hotel paid for a taxi when we arrived. It is difficult to describe the beauty of this place. The grounds are incredible. The swimming pool is fed by a river. It is not heated, but would be wonderful in the summertime. There is every attention to detail in this place. We ate dinner and had amazing steak. The breakfast is included with your stay, and is a maid to order omelette, Buffay. The rooms are Qwaint and individualized. We will definitely be back!

Amazing unique hotel with a natural pool with the river water running through it. The staff were very professional and clearly wanted to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The rooms are large and well appointed. Being able to have dinner out in the grounds on wrought iron furniture and white linen (with a cardigan on) was a luxury you expect in hotels that are significantly more expensive .

One of (if not the) most special places we’ve stayed! Every part of the hotel is unique, artfully curated, and well taken care of. Not to mention, the staff are all incredibly friendly and the food was amazing (best breakfast ever, amazing homemade bread and pastries every day). Can’t say enough good about the place.
