This is a historic property that seemed to be run by a local family. The host (owner?) Emilio spoke good English in addition to his Native Spanish. I love the rustic wood all over the property and the outside spaces with stone patios was really nicely done. A good blend of old stone house with modern bathrooms and windows that open to let in the cool mountain air. Breakfast was great and served at tables, also there's an area in the dining room with fruit and yogurt that you could easily grab and go with.

Some might be challenged by the stairs with a great deal of luggage, but the Staff/Owner was very willing to help with luggage and only went up one floor. Its a relatively small property and the Staff seem to know each guest.

A charming family-run hotel is conveniently located between Cangas de Onís and Covadonga, making it perfect to reach both places within a 10-minute drive. Very clean with a lot of attention to the small details that make this hotel comfortable The owner speaks fluent English and is exceptionally friendly: recommended a restaurant for us. We like breakfast, that is served in a beautifully designed room and includes fresh juice, eggs, ham, salami, bread, pate, jam, and a homemade family cake.

Nice quiet hotel 5 min by car to the small lovely town of Cangas de Onis, and on the road to Covadonga sanctuary and lakes. This area of Asturias is really beautiful, so much greenery around! Breakfast was delicious and plenty of choice. The owner also makes homemade cakes, and I was able to try one of his pastels de calabacin, it was absolutely delicious! Thank you for being so welcoming 😀

Excellent location, easy to access with car and near to the main points of interest. It was also easy to park nearby in a public and safe parking lot - free of charge. Emílio really made the difference welcoming us and suggesting us what to do and what to visit in the area. Delicious breakfast - we loved the homemade cake and the freshly scrambled eggs.

A cozy hotel in the perfect spot to explore picos de Europa. It was not only very comfortable, clean but also it had a great ambience. In addition breakfast was very good and the stuff very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend it!

Beautiful hotel close to Covadonga Lakes. Our room was lovely, and the breakfast has a great selection in the mornings. Location is easy to access the national park via bus or car, and a short drive to Canga de Onis.

Hotel La Balsa is very close to Congas de Onis, however, far away from the crowds. Perfect location to stay for a visit to Covadonga. It was a fabulous retreat with very friendly staff, nice terrace, super clean and comfortable rooms, and a great homemade breakfast! Our 2 wishes is to return and bring more family with us!

Amazing breakfast (for Spanish standards) with scrambled eggs and a big buffet! Room was super clean and owner speaks English - what else to wish for? :) It is close enough to ride for a sunrise to Lagos de Covadongas, do the circuit around both lakes and get back to the hotel for late hours of breakfast (been here in July & definitely recommend) - that was a perfect start of a day! :)

Nothing really - tiny little thing that bed could be more comfortable, but nothing too serious, only add a picky me :)

What a treasure to find. The place was amazing. The breakfast was the best I have had in my travels so far in Spain! It is a family owned establishment where great care is taken with everything. You cannot go wrong booking here!! I will be back.

The breakfast was fantastic and the staff are really helpful. We really enjoyed our time there. If you are planning a visit to Covadonga the hotel is ideally located.
