I liked the room, roof terrace, location, breakfast, and staff

Had 2 single beds, the mattress on the first night was awful, too soft and bendy each side of you, felt like I was going to roll out of either side, therefore had no sleep. Decided to try the other bed the next night and it was an improvement. Also no English TV to have on when in the room, especially in the evening. Tried all the settings to get it but no luck, couldn't even get English subtitles, so had to go to bed.

Location was fantastic, roof terrace was a bonus with fabulous views. Breakfast was so nice, included at one of the cafes in the square. The cleaning lady was brilliant, always a smile and very helpful. Staff were great for picking up keys. Thank you.

Location fantastic, a fiesta was on at the time I was there, the music was unnecessarily loud in the afternoon and the vibrations throughout the square and buildings were making me feel sick. I spent most of the day in another part of the village to avoid the noise and the shut myself in the room towards the end of the day, until it ended. This of course was no fault of the B&B. People there must have permanent ear damage! Also an English TV channel would have been good to have when spending time in room.

Excellent central location with amazing views. The room and all areas of b&b were spotlessly clean, comfortable beds and pillows. Good shower and bathroom. Communal roof terrace was a bonus! We would stay again however would book a bigger room.

The room was very small for two friends (we understood before booking). The room had a wonderful view overlooking the main square and church so we were awaken by the bells pealing each morning, however that added to the charm!

The room was spotless and check in was all done prior to us getting there ,envelope was left for us with all the details we needed. Location is great ,in the middle of the town ,just a short walk down some steps to restaurants . We had 2 rooms (as we were with parents) both rooms excellent with very well equipped kitchenettes ,everything we needed for our stay . Rooms were made up each day and beverages left in fridge with an honesty pot (lovely touch ) at the top is a wonderful roof terrace with excellent views, wouldn't hesitate coming back here or recommending it to others .

The following may be a negative for some but we loved it here . The church bell that you overlook bongs very frequently throughout the day ,from 8am until 11pm and if you have mobility issues then this may not be the place for you as it has stairs to all the rooms (having said that,the whole of Competa has steep up and down paths and roads ) and because the place overlooks the square you may hear lots of chatting late into the night . These are maybe the only negatives but the place is fantastic and views stunning .

Salamandra Plaza is a lovely little hotel located on one of the main squares in Competa, right across from the church. The location is excellent. The rooms are small, but comfortable. There are several restaurants within steps of the hotel.

It was difficult to find. When we checked in, we were given a map that had directions on it - it would have been very helpful to have had that before we set out to find the place. Otherwise, no complaints

Excellent location next to The Plaza. The breakfast was a voucher scheme whereby you had four cafe/bars to choose from - we thought this worked exceptionally well. Communication with the organisation was excellent. Fresh bottles of water every day was very welcome.

Better sound proofing - only really required due to a loud resident that wanted to share his phone calls at unsociable hours!

Although the room was compact it made up for size by its magnificent position in the center of the town square overlooking the church. The food and drink in the restaurants in the square were good and also a fair price. The included breakfast at any of five restaurants around the square was superb. We both really enjoyed our stay in Competa

Nothing really, we were bombarded with texts/e-mails on how to check in so no reason that you were in the dark. Silly that no mention when picking up the key at the office that the key card activated the electricity. My fault for not twigging it really. Otherwise everything nearly perfect.

Excellent location and value for money. Air-conditioning was a massive plus! The roof terrace was lovely in the evening when the sun was going down.

It had a horrible smell in our apartment, particularly after we had run a bath. It may have been the drains but it was not very pleasant! The mugs weren’t washed during the daily housekeeping and the coffee was only replenished on one occasion.

I had been walking in the mountains for 4 days, it was 21:00 and my car was parked outside Salamandre, I thought that I just had to walk up to the upper floor and access my accommodation, not so I had a 450mt walk carrying my luggage up to the top of Competa, google maps sent me to the wrong hostal so the code did not work but Carlos was on the job and sorted me no problem, I will certainly stay there again.

All ok for me

I have lived in my villa outside the village of Competa for 15 years but needed to be located in the village for a short while. I chose Salamandra because of its location, reputation and value for money. We were not disappointed and it provided all that we could have expected for the days we were there. The room is well designed to fit everything needed into a small but comfortable area. Well appointed bathroom, kitchen space with all you need, TV complete with Netflix etc, free high speed wifi, and super cosy beds. A complete home from home and don't worry about the church bells as they don't ring through the night! Enjoy your breakfast in Miguel's: the locals are regular users so that speaks for itself.

I struggle to think of anything I didn't like, so its a zero in this box!
