Hotel Playa Sur Tenerife

Just the most perfect hotel! We didn't want to leave. We had a beautiful room on the ground floor facing onto the lovely garden (immaculately kept). Comfortable, clean, with modern stylish furniture, and only steps from the lounge which opens onto the terrace, pool and breakfast restaurant. We looked forward to the breakfasts each day which had absolutely everything you wanted, and the most delicious croissants I've had in a long time. And the location is unbelievable.. on one side you look out onto the wild natural reserve and kitesurfing beach, and on the other it's the main beach, board walk and all the water sports shops and cafes, and you're in the town square in a few minutes. We couldn't fault the hotel even one tiny thing. The perfect place to stay to enjoy El Medano, watersports, or just sit on the loungers for a week and read. We moved to a 5-star hotel in a different part of the island after staying here, and we really regretted it! That's how good Play Sur(f) is!

Pretty good location for trips around the island - assuming you're renting a car. The car parking was not super spacious, but never had trouble finding a parking space. Also, if you're a surfing enthusiast this is apparently one if the best places on the island.

The breakfast was ok-ish, but a bit more diversity would've been nice. Although the building is pretty old - built in 1980 it appears, it is generally in good condition. Changing the balcony doors on the top will help a lot though, as they vibrate strongly during strong winds (not at all uncommon in those parts).

All staff was very nice and helpful. The sun lounge/garden was very nice with comfy sunbeds and always enough space for everyone. Breakfast was fine but after two weeks it got a little tiresome.

The pool was far too cold and was almost never used by anyone. The women´s wc in the garden was ridiculously small, there was no way to close the inner door! We missed whole grain bread and some more diversity at breakfast, it was fine for a few days but after two weeks we were getting tired of the same things. Finally the music by the pool was played far too loud all the time.

All of the staff were wonderful - kind, funny, polite, helpful. Was greeted by Sofia on check in, felt very welcomed. Able to leave bags securely ahead of my room being ready. Right on the beach, but the nice end not the hectic end :) A good handful of shops, restaurants and bars within a ten minute walk down the beach/boardwalk. At the hotel end, a perfect view of the Red Mountain. Endless water-sports options on your doorstep too. Great walking options straight out of the door. Room was a good size, small fridge, toiletries, fan, balcony with a view and a very good shower (pressure and temperature - both never an issue). Pool size was good, but I didn't venture in. Enough sunbeds and seating around the pool. Breakfast was solid - hot, cold, fruits, savoury and sweet options. Coffee machine available too, with water and juice also on tap. Common areas spacious, cool and clean. There were spaces to sit indoors too (away from the sunshine), and store items such as water-sports equipment or bikes. Less than 15 minute drive to the airport - bonus! Strong WiFi. Restaurant connected to the hotel was good and handy for lunch and dinner. Would stay again.

A bottle of water on arrival would have been nice. Deposit needed for TV remote, and pool towels chargeable for a small fee. There was some kind of water-sports meeting over two of the days, which meant less shaded seating around the pool and no calming pool music. Slamming doors - would recommend affixing gadgets to the top of each door so that they close meaningfully. Top of the budget, but nicer than hotels/accommodation nearby.

This is by far one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in Tenerife and one of the best I remember by the beach anywhere. Staff are excellent, keen and kind, speaking many different languages proficiently. Szófia is particularly extraordinary, an example of being pro-active and going the extra mile for the customers. We were in one of the refurbished rooms, very clean and spacious, with fridge and balcony, all great feel and finished with good taste. The breakfast is absolutely wonderful, by the pool and the weather was helpful in making it charming outside. There is a great selection of fresh produce, cooked and continental breakfast, as well as bread and more. literally stepping out of the hotel, you may choose the beach of El Médano, with a very short walk into a lovely town or walking to the protected beautiful area of Montaña Roja, as the name says, red mountain. There is also a lovely bar on site with some music, which we did not see or enjoy as we only stayed one night. I found charming the combination of different ages and purposes, from sports based holidays- plenty of options- to just beach ones. Really lovely place, thank you. El Médano and Hotel Playa Sur is exactly the opposite of the artificial and disgusting areas overbuilt and overexploited in the Playa de las Americas, f.i. It feels the charm of a little tourist sea "village".

Difficult to answer but one must be aware the hotel is apparently refurbishing some areas, so you might not always be in a brand new room.

Location is excellent, just next to the windsurf/kitesurf but also relatively close to the swimming beach by walking. It is very quiet during night-time. Breakfast was quite good and there was always a parking spot available in the private parking lot (this was in August, high season)

The rooms are small, but being one of the cheapest hotels in south Tenerife, it was worth it.

A Lovely Stay at Beachfront Hotel with Great Service and Amenities I recently had a pleasant stay at the Hotel, where I experienced friendly service and enjoyed the beautiful beachfront location. One of the highlights of the Hotel was the well-maintained pool, surrounded by greenery and comfortable loungers. The pool provided a refreshing break from the beach, and the attentive staff ensured that all guests were well taken care of. Additionally, the hotel caters to remote workers, offering reliable high-speed Wi-Fi and quiet spaces for work. Sophia was especially considerate, ensuring that my remote working needs were met and offering suggestions for the best spots to work within the hotel. Sophia's friendly approach and dedication to her guests added a personal touch to my stay. Her commitment to guest satisfaction created a welcoming atmosphere, making me feel at home. In summary, the Hotel offers a comfortable stay with its lovely beachfront location, good amenities, and attentive service. Sophia's hospitality, in particular, made my experience even more delightful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway.

Please provide Coffee the whole day. Low costs-> high customer value. Especaly for remote workers like me:)

I loved everything about this hotel. It's newly refurbished and very stylish. The hotel was very clean and in a great location, literally on the beach, and just a couple of minutes walk from the main town.

The pool was ice cold so I only went in it once (I never saw anyone else in it). I presume it gets warmer later in the year. My balcony was quite small and the view was obscured by a tree. Next time, I would ask for a room with a view of the sea.

The rooms are very clean and the pool area is great and well protected from wind. The breakfast was nice (though more sugary options would have been welcome) We further appreciated the parking and location (you cannot hear the planes despite the airport being super close). You can reach everything (shopping, beach, restaurants) by foot.

The rooms are a little dated and the shower could use a renovation. The lightning in the room could also be improved as well as the addition of more sockets.

The hotel is right on the beach easy to access from the road network & only a short walk along a boardwalk to the town centre. All the water equipment hire services are just outside the hotel. Free car park for guests with card key operated barrier. Storage available for surf gear & bikes etc. Check in was easy & Hotel is kept spotlessly clean all staff are pleasant & helpful. Pool is attractive with plenty of loungers. Rooms have there own balcony with furniture. Breakfast buffet is plentiful with a mix of cooked and cold with plenty of pastries & fruit. On site restaurant serves a nice selection of food & drinks & was always busy which is a good sign. Side door off the pool area gives direct access to the boardwalk then a 5 minute walk to the centre. Nice laid back feel to the Hotel & indeed the town itself. El Medano is windy which is why it is a mecca for board sports but it is also an excellent base for exploring Tenerife. Will definitely be returning to this hotel.
