Hotel Alcazar Irun

One of the best hotel experiences we have had so far! The place is very cozy and unique, you get a jungle feeling when you get there (lots of greens around!). Excellent location with a great restaurant across the street. They gave us a very warm welcome together with our dog, who received some treats at the arrival. The biggest asset of this place - people, the staff- the receptionist lady was exceptional, took a great care of us in a very frustrating situation (our car broke down on o trip of 3000km). We really felt the hospitality was beyond expectations, we felt like home. A big thank you 🙏🏻

An old style hotel which has retained much of the character. W ooden floors, oak panelling, spacious rooms, huge bed, quiet location yet just a couple of minutes walk from town centre. Good buffet breakfast with plenty of choices. Free parking in the grounds.

The bathroom was a bit 1980's although very clean, but could do with updating. When booking I was unaware that it was " dog friendly " which we normally avoid like the plague because they always stink of dog. However they must work very hard here to eliminate that, because we couldn't tell.

The hotel emailed us to say that any new bookings would not include breakfast, now €9 each. Also dogs, which were free will now be an additional €15 per night. Shame!!!

The hotel is located a few meters away from the city center and is very easy to reach. A few meters away there are many shops of all kinds. The hotel parking is free and the breakfast is well served and varied. The staff is very helpful and the receptionist speaks English fluently. In addition the hotel is surrounded by green trees and the free WIFI is accessible in the rooms.

All was good, just disappointed that dogs are not allowed in the dinning room, which again staff was great and we were able to have breakfast in another area where dog was allowed. At check in I recommend to let owners now that dogs are not allowed at dinning area

Our room was surprisingly spacious, with windows looking onto dense greenery, which was pleasantly surprising in a centrally located hotel.

The breakfast was included in the room rate and quite adequate. However, one is now used to coffee machines, giving a choice of ones preferred brew. The coffee in the Alcazar is served in a sizeable container and had been standing around a bit.

The reception staff shared their knowledge of the area and how to navigate to find what was of interest and in the morning, the breakfast area is quite spacious and welcoming with views of the verdant grounds and speaking of grounds, the coffee was rich. The breakfast offered an area of meats and cheeses and altogether offered a pleasant beginning to the day.

Tre taxi from the airport was 40 Euros for a less than 5 KM ride. The hotel might consider making an arrangement with a local company to provide transportation at a more sensible price.

If you're expecting a really modern hotel, you have the wrong impression. This place is amazingly quaint and old fashioned and has some beautiful characteristics you'd never find in a 'copy and paste' modern design hotel. We were lucky enough to have the top floor suite and it was fabulous. Our doggy traveller was also treat well, with treats and a blanket.

Good location, close to bars and shops. The reception was friendly with good spoken English. The room was a good size with comfy bed, it was blankets. Extra pillows were in the room. Breakfast was fresh and the coffee was good. Would recommend as a stop over. Thankyou.

The invoice was not the amount as agreed on booking.com but that was accepted. I paid the amount shown on my booking.

we have stayed here numerous times over the last ten years, it is always a home from home.

we where in room 124, it was a newly renovated room and very nicely done, however the bath/shower was terrible to use. it is not possible to reach the taps without getting into the bath. as a shower it is dangerous for older people, I am an active 60 years, I ski and ride horses but this bath shower was dangerous, slippy as a shower and awful as a bath. the new mattress was cheap, the sheets poor quality and the pillows terrible. the two tiny towels barely covered my bottom and I am a size 10! the bath bubbles where a waste of time.
