Hostal Santa Cruz

Great hostel with a very convenient location, close to the Plaza del Sol. Communicative place with convenient transport links and close to all attractions. The staff is very friendly. Clean rooms, the bathroom is equipped with the necessary consumables. Daily change of towels and cleaning. Our stay was wonderful and I hope to sit here again. I recommend!

I have no remarks

The location is exceptional with varied and interesting cafes, bakeries and bars. Its a bit loud, but in a happening kind of way. You can walk from Atocha train station with a roller bag, if you're hardy, but metro is also near. It feels a little like the village in NYC and the pricing is excellent. I travelled alone and felt safe. I recommend.

The common area was awkward, and the hesitation on the lighting was also strange.

The location could not be better. Close to everything. Good cafe right downstairs for cappuccino & croissant or pretty much anything else you could want. Lots of restaurants and tapas places nearby. Only 5 minute walk to the Plaza Mayor and a few minutes to Plaza Sol and Metro. So perfect location. The room was small but had everything you need and was kept immaculately clean. I would stay there again if I ever return to Madrid.

Not always someone at front desk . But that’s very minor as everything is so close.

One of the beds wasn't very comfortable and we couldn't control the heating..it would switch on in the middle of the night and get the room quite warm, but other than that it was perfect.

The hostel is perfectly located and perfect value for money. It really exceeded my expectations as it was very cheap for the great central location so I didn't expect much for this price. However, the room was great and had all facilities necessary with private bathroom, separate toilet and we even had an amazing view facing a nice square with a clocktower. The staff was also very friendly and accommodated our very late check in at 1am in the morning. I definitely recommend this place if you want to be located in the centre and the price value is unbeatable. We will definitely come back!

for this price I think everything was really good.

location was incredible, and in fact, this was the second time we've stayed at this hotel. The room was just fine. It was also very clean. We were very pleased with the staff because we were delayed due to an airline glitch, and she stayed very late for us (1:00 a.m.!)

The location, minutes from both the Plaza Major and Puerto Del Sol, was very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

The bedroom size was acceptable with comfortable beds however the layout of the room, particularly the en-suite could be better.

The only thing I didn't like was that my room wasn't a sun-drenched place, it was facing the building void, maybe it would be better to request a room with a view before booking.

It's close to everything. You can literally walk to all the places. There's everything nearby (restaurants, cafes, supermarkets). Plaza Mayor is on the corner. You can take a train at the airport and be at the hostal in less than 30 minutes for €3. Atocha station is one stop away, you can go anywhere from there.

I liked everything, but if I have to make a suggestion... A coffee maker would be a plus.

The location of this place is second to none for the price, you're right in the heart of Madrid and with a balcony overlooking one of the squares. The staff are nice and helpful and the room was spacious and clean.

The big thing that let this place down was the pillows, they were rock hard and you only got one. I ended up using one of the blankets rolled up instead! I really didn't get a good sleep whilst here because of the pillows. Just one small change would make this place a 10 for the money!
