Abba Santander

The hotel was very easy to find by car. Right next to the bus station, also the parking at the front made it very easy although not very secure. Reception staff very helpful and friendly providing information on the local shopping and places to eat... The location was superb....within 200 metres of lots of restaurants, cafe, tapas bars. As an overnight fit the Brittany ferry terminal it is perfect.... About 10 minutes level walk, and about 3 minutes...by car... traffic dependent... Generally the room was a little tired. It was twin bedded so slightly small as the beds were very wide, however the beds were medium to firm and very comfortable. The WiFi was fairly good and free. Decor especially the curtains and cabinets were a little tired although not too bad. Surprising amount of wardrobe space which also had a safe. Bathroom with bath with shower, bidet, toilet and washbasin all good quality in their time, although all a little dated and of need of an update.. Considering how central this hotel is and the proximity to the bus station its not overly noisy, with the very well insulated double glazed windows firmly closed. We stayed in November so it was OK to keep the windows closed not sure what the nose level would be from the bus station in summer.

Just the general decor which needs updating. Also more secure parking although the parking was inexpensive and 29 metres from the hotel front door..

We received a very warm welcome, it was our 3rd visit . The location is ideal, our room was quiet, comfortable and breakfast is really good, great selection, fresh and plentiful. The bathroom towels are luxurious and instand hot water. Also we came by bicycle and they always have a secure area for us to store them. The locatiation is perfect, central, near to the Ferry , parks, right on the sea front, restaurants, shopping and culture. 5 star service all round. Thank you so much.

The hotel is very well positioned. It is opposite the bus station ,surrounded by shops,restaurents and supermarkets and central to many places of historical interest. The receptionist,Nacho, was very polite and informative and went out of his way to provide an adapter so that I could charge my phone and I was also able to book in an hour earlier as the room was ready. It was a great advantage that he could also speak English. The room was clean and the bed very comfortable., A fridge and tea and coffee making facilities were provided in the room which not all Spanish hotels provide. All in all a very friendly service and I would definately stay there again.

There is nothing I didn't like about this hotel.

Would certainly recommend. We were concerned about parking, so messaged ahead of arrival. The staff were kind enough as to reserve us one of the very limited spaces outside the hotel, which we greatly appreciated (there is a small charge). The staff were helpful generally. The hotel is modern and clean. Our room was spacious with a shower and bath (a little uncommon in Spain and quite welcome. It was quite and the bed was comfy. It is pet friendly which was essential for us.

Cannot think of any negatives.

The breakfast was exceptional. It was the first time I tried "quesada" and I had to buy 4 packages to take home. Fresh juice and nice variety of yogurt -- peach and passion fruit combo especially -- complimented the bountiful buffet. The staff was quite friendly and helpful. The hotel was exceptionally clean -- I did not see 1 bug during my entire visit. The sheets were spotless and high thread count. A pleasant sleeping experience.

The rim of the bathtub was quite high and it was a bit difficult to enter and leave the bathing area without a wall handle. For young and agile folks this will be no problem but for some this could pose an issue.

If you travel with bus or train, if you need to stay over night to catch an early flight from Santander airport, I suggest to stay at this hotel. It is just in front of the bus station but also very near to all attractions and interesting spots in the city. Nice and big bathrooms. Very good breakfast :)

It would be nice to have some more space to open the laguage, but since we stayed just for one night this was not a big deal.

The breakfast was fantastic. They supplied freshly homemade yogurt, which was excellent. The scrambled eggs were delicious. Very clean eating/food area. The location was great, unbelievable. So close to the bus station, and train station.

The chuck away paper cups in the room were too flimsy for a cuppa. However it didn’t bother me because everything else was fantastic.

The hotel is just next to the bus terminal which can be very convenient. But it can get noisy at night with the bus noise (we had windows facing the bus terminal). Otherwise the rooms are spacious and clean. The bed is comfortable. The wifi is free and is good.

There was a gutter smell coming from the bathroom. And the bathroom had a very bad ventilation so it was very hot there all the time, which can be an inconvenience.

Very friendly receptionists. Comfortable beds. Excellent location for getting the ferry, and for a walk by the sea. Great that the hotel is pet friendly. Room and bathroom very clean.

The hotel information was only accessible via QR code, which we didn't realise until too late. So we felt we didn't have enough infomatio about parking, meal times, checking out times, pizza delivery.

The staff were very helpful and had a positive approach to questions. They were friendly but also professional.

The rooms were not thoroughly cleaned. Carpets need replacing and there was a musty smell. we went to the grocery and bought air fresheners. The staff said plans were in progress to renovate and update the rooms.
