Hospitality ,cleanliness was very good.The staff are very responsive.Housekeeping services are excellent.the property is beautiful for a relaxed holiday.Food was very good.Will love to visit again

The hidden taxes of more than 200 dollars for 3 nights in off season period .this amount was not clearly mentioned on Booking.com..Had to pay about 30 percent more than the rates on booking.com eventually due to these taxes.The exact amount including taxes etc needs to be shown during booking.Transparency in this regard would be great.

Very friendly and always ready to help staff. Very tasty breakfasts. Good cleaning in the room. Good air conditioning, comfortable bed, there was enough space in the room to put the child on the mattress. Good beaches, you can walk along the shore. To the right of the exit to the sea there is an excellent beach for children, the bottom relief cuts the waves very strongly, and there is shallow (up to the middle of the shin of an adult), children can swim comfortably even in strong waves.

The sea was constantly stormy, there was less time to swim than expected. Probably the end of October is not the best time to visit this hotel.

The setting is sublime with a lovely clean beach. The staff were just lovely (as, in truth, they are everywhere in Sri Lanka) The pool is great. The bed was comfortable

We booked a sea view room and yes, it had a sea view but really only partial as we were on the third floor and there are quite a lot of shrubs blocking the view. Not a big deal though. The room was fine but the bathroom was very dated and had an over bath shower which is not good really. Also, the bathroom was divided from the bedroom with a transparent glass panel which had a blind to lower for privacy. The bath/shower was adjacent to this so the blind was getting rather black in places. Having said that the room cleaner was excellent.

Staff were excellent, especially Sam and Terrance! But every member of staff was very attuned to your needs and never came off as overbearing which is a very skilful balance to pull off! We liked that you could shut the blinds for full privacy in the ensuite, some hotels don't allow complete privacy so it was appreciated that we had the option.

The layout of the hotel was a bit dated and could be difficult to find your way around sometimes. Clearer guidance on where things like the oriental pavilion and spa etc. are located would help. However, this is a small suggestion and doesn't detract from the experience as we had a great time exploring the hotel.

Very pleasant place to stay, amazing views from the room (ocean & swimming pool), swimming pool facilities, breakfast, overall service level. All the cons were small and insignificant, we would definitely stay again.

Bathroom needs a bit of renovation for a hotel of this level. What should be definitely changed are bathtub mats which have fungus on them. We also ordered a fruit plate for the check-in, it was served with a very small plate and a blunt knife - I am sure there is a better way to either pre-cut the fruits, or serve them with appropriate cutlery and plates.

It's an excellent hotel for families. The pool itself is good and big. The pool area is at an elevation from where stunning sunsets can be seen. The service of all staff members was excellent and consistent which you would expect from a Taj. Special thanks to Janitha from F&B services, who made sure that we were well taken care of, especially on those weekends when there was maximum capacity at the breakfast and restaurant area. All the staff seemed well trained and aware, even the trainees who displayed excellent service. Of course, the renowned SriLankan hospitality also plays a big part in making your overall stay in the country enjoyable. Its location is stunning and frankly exceeded my expectations. Bang on the beautiful Bentota beach, where you can go surfing which we enjoyed a lot. It's a big property with lots of space to walk around and is designed to give you the best that Bentota Beach can offer. We will visit this beautiful hotel again.

Breakfast - the spread was excellent and wide. Had a good spread of continental, Indian and South Indian Dishes . Prefer Taj specifically for this. The resort offered excellent amenities, including a relaxing pool, delicious dining options, and attentive staff. Nice beach facing property. We got a very good suite room with a large balcony. View of the sea was amazing . Fantastic place to spend a quiet and relaxing holiday. We availed SPA facility. It was great.

After Check out we had problems taking a Uber taxi out of the property , due to local taxi association blocking the entrance to the resort . The Resort Management was helpless in this count and we had to drag our baggage all the way to the end of the road to board our taxi. Resort management should take it up with the Taxi association and not succumb to such ransom.

What separates a 5 star from others is the service. Taj Bentota staff especially the kitchen staff are outstanding. A big shout to Chef Piyush and his team(special mention of Chef Dalip) who are excellent. Apart from this location, amenities and care they take is outstanding. We will definitely return

Maybe the buffet can be priced a bit more economically (dinner ). Also some of the staff were not fluent in English. They should also think about a kids club

The room view is garden and then beach. Beach access is private to guests, with all facilities (towel,shower etc). Food is very good, amazing Indian, continental, English vegetarian fresh options. Pool was clean, spa is a whole ambience in itself. Game zone was also fun and well maintained. Staff is very helpful and friendly.

The bathroom was a bit small and room was not as clean as taj's standard, i could see hair stuck in the wheel of extra bed, and some dust here and there near the bed and tables.

The staff were amazing, really friendly and so welcoming. The staff at breakfast also were so lovely (shoutout to Janitha) We loved the pool and beach, the view is beautiful from the pool and our room.. we loved the facilities there also. Also we really appreciated the early check in thank you for this after our night flight.. we really appreciated the room upgrade also 🫶🏻 thank you so much for a wonderful stay. We definitely would come to stay with you again!

It’s slightly dated, however this would not stop us from staying here again.
