The staff and location .can't praise the Chef enough...excellent food all around. The manager was very accomodating and he runs a good ship with excellent staff

We had booked via Booking.com.com for two rooms with sea view and premier rooms. Got neither when we got there to check in. The error was obvious and it was apparent that our rooms were given to others. As consolidation we were offered a free night in a Premier room and dinner..but by then the damage was done. The manager and staff did their utmost to make our stay a memorable one..thanks. Wish the reservation team were better.

Great location, awesome beach with large strip of sand, not crowded. The premium room is really big, great and huge bathroom, perfect terrace with comfy seating overlooking the pool. The pool and the grounds are brilliant. The staff tries really hard to meet the needs of their guest. Great find for the price range

As in most places in Sri Lanka rather slow and inattentive staff at restaurant, no coffee machine in the room, bad juices from a canned powder

We were welcomed with popsicles when we arrived. Our room was massive, clean and had all the updated appliances. There was a private patio with a sun bed as well. The staff were incredible welcoming, friendly and helpful. They made the bed everyday, sometimes even twice a day, and they had all the mosquito repellents in the room and even replaced the mosquito lamps, incense and more (although we had no issues in the room probably because of that!). Breakfast selection was amazing and delicious. It was also really fun to watch the train go by in the morning during breakfast. Pool was clean and was really nice to dip in to escape the heat. Super convenient location, just walk across the railway tracks and you’re at the beach. There’s 24 hour security to open the gates for you no matter what time you come back. We started our trip here and it has been so hard to live up to those expectations. It is probably the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in.

Absolutely Stunning property, beautiful decorated. Amazing breakfasts ( delicious fluffy pancakes made to order with local treacle, fantastic eggs Benedict & enjoyed the waffles with spicy dressing & eggs! very stunning bedroom with the best bed & private sitting out area. Enjoyed watching the trains go by as the train track literally runs along the end of the garden, before the beach! We had 2 lunches during our stay - delicious prawn curry, Lanka & seared tuna dishes. The service from all the hotel staff was incredible, would thoroughly recommend The Long House if you’re looking for a quite relaxing luxury stay

Lovely bar - shame it only serves wine & beer & no cocktails unlike the fabulous boutique hotels we visited in Galle - think they are missing a trick here - maybe consider happy hour? As it’s a small boutique hotel with only 10 rooms we preferred to eat out in the evening in local restaurants as we’d probably have been the only diners as hotel wasn’t fully occupied so would lack the atmosphere of a restaurant. Also food & drink priced in USD’s so not surprisingly significantly more expensive than local restaurants where we enjoyed local prawn curries & fish dishes

Stunning design. Beautiful location. Huge comfortable room. Delicious breakfast, Sri Lankan or European available. Lots of smiley attentive staff. Huge empty beach at the end of the garden.

No menu for meals. Told that dinner was a fixed USD50 and you could order any food you liked. Ended up with other guests at a decent cheap restaurant across the road. A shame, as judging by the breakfast and some free cakes we were given by the pool, the kitchen was high class. No alcoholic drinks available. Anti-covid notices and messages about compulsory shoe sanitisation and other nonsense, none of which were (thankfully) enforced and hopefully have now been removed. Slightly odd to have a shower open to a small garden so that the staff had to light mosquito coils in the bathroom every evening. Having said that we didn't see any mosquitoes and the shower was lovely.

We felt very well looked after in this very luxurious and beautiful property. The position of the hotel, style, decor and facilities are all fantastic. Food was absolutely delicious. Staff were very kind and friendly. On our last night we were the only guests, as the hotel was being taken over for a big party the following day. We knew we were hindering them getting the place event ready, but not one member of staff ever made us feel in the way or unwelcome.

It feels like not a hotel, but your billionaire friend gave you the keys to his luxurious oceanside mansion for the holidays and asked his staff to treat you like a Royal family member. Everything is Immaculate. From homemade sorbet on arrival to the stunning restaurant where the chef will cook for you personally, from a manicured garden to private sun lounges set on request just for you on the beach. Amazing experience! Thank you for having us in The Long House! We will definitely return!

We loved the fact it only had 9 bedrooms so it felt small and personal.

Although our bedroom was very spacious we found the bed mattress very lumpy and uncomfortable- they really need to upgrade it! We stayed for a week and found the food delicious but was rather repetitive and we would have enjoyed more Sri Lankan dishes.

We absolutely loved this hotel. Out of all the hotels we stayed in for a month in Sri Lanka we liked this one and one other hotel the best. We got the room at a reduced rate online and the value for money was exceptional. The property has small number of rooms yet has so much space and so many sitting areas. The gardens and decor are really nice. The pool was really nice and clean. The beach area is really nice to walk and clean, really great beach for walking and just ten minutes walk on beach to main area. The rooms are really nice, very large, very clean, great bed and linen and areas to sit and big balcony with very comfortable seating. The bathroom is large and good. The bathroom is a bit open but they put mosquito prevention items etc and there weren’t any mosquitoes as they fumigate but would be easier if they just put flyscreen in bathroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was good. The property feels very luxurious and intimate. The dinner menu was limited with western food only that was very formal and no snacks etc. It is understandable to have limited menu because at the time we stayed there were only three groups of guests. However there are many eating options in Bentota so there was no problem at all, the place across the road was cheap and cheerful and Nova Seafood was really, really good.

Would be good to have menu in room as well as drinks list etc. Transport provided by hotel was very expensive for Sri Lanka hence we used alternative local company.

We stayed for four nights and loved everything about this place, especially excellent service but also beautiful design and hotel setting with an easy access to the beach and great care of every single staff member. The food was the best we have eaten in whole Sri Lanka, cleaning crew was doing a great job, restaurant staff was very attentive and caring... Hotel manager, his assistant and everyone in the hotel are all doing a great job. Every employee was smiling all the time, was very friendly and yet professional. We stayed over New Year's Eve and loved everything about it. Definitely highly recommend the place.

The playroom wasn't done very creatively, there were just a few children books and toys there, there wasn't anything for our one year old son to do there.
