Uncomplicated check-in with friendly staff who offered extra information. The room was spacious and clean and light and really cozy. Showers, toilets etc were nearby and clean. We stayed for one night as we were visiting friends and family in Basel and it was perfect. The location is also good - quite central but still very quiet.

The mattress on the bed really needs to be changed. I understand that a hostel won't have hotel-class mattresses and I like a hard mattress but it had a dip in the middle you could feel the wood underneath through it and I was glad I only had one night sleeping on it. Also be aware that this private room was on the 2nd floor of a building with only stairs so if you have luggage or are not so mobile this might be an issue for you.

The hostel is really great. It is in a nice neighborhood. It is well connected by trams and buses to the rest of the city. The rooms and the bathrooms are very clean. The staff are wonderful. The bed is king size and the key for the locker is provided. The kitchen is well-furnished with all kinds of cutleries, utensils, a microwave and burners as well as a huge fridge. The property provides an eight swiss franks buffet breakfast for those who wish it, which is great value when you look at the prices of coffee shops. I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely go back.

I took a private room. The room was unexpectedly spacious, had a lovely retro feel, comfy bed and sofa, hot shower with good pressure, wooden floor. Everything was very clean. Loved the character. The heating works fine. The common areas— kitchen was clean and had all the essentials needed; dining and lounge areas were clean and cosy. And there was free flow of tea each day, and during the reception’s opening hours, it serves hot beverages and doubles as a small café. Nice, casual vibe. Excellent location— two tram stops away from the main train station. It’s a short walk from the tram stop. Short tram ride to the Old City and the riverside. Supermarkets, both Coop and Migros, the two main chains in Switzerland— with walking distance. Staff was very friendly, warm, spontaneous and helpful. Interesting building— the hostel is located within a lovely repurposed, mixed-purpose community-centric block. Adds to the friendly, casual vibe.

No elevator, but the layout of the property would have made installing elevators difficult anyway. It was a little bit noisy— you could hear some footsteps and pipes gurgling from the dorms, and some conversations and footsteps on the stairs. Windows faced the open courtyard in the building or the street just outside, so keeping them open upped the noise and occasionally let in cigarette smoke.

BED!!! There was a free option to get a double bed for one person! Loved it. I liked the room setup too. The location was comfortable and easy to access via various lines of trams available. Definitely met my expectations with its lower prices compared to rest of Switzerland. Free coffee and tea whenever was nice.

There was a kids-group booking which I HATED! They were extremely crowded, noisy and rude! The facility did not help with it really, considering me and my other roommates had noise complaints at various times in the day. Also, the water boilers in the kitchen were both really dirty (burnt really, should be renewed by the facility)

We were in the dorms and it was very nice, The beds were good and everyone had personal lockers next to the beds. The kitchen had what you needed and a good system for storing things in the fridge. The Baselcard being included was very nice for public Transport. The staff was very nice.

The Upper Bunks didn't have anywhere to put stuff next to the bed. The Kitchen was clean enough but could definitely use a deep clean/ reset.

Great location, quite quiet, close to the train station and bus and tram stops. Near catering establishments, dance studios. The bunk double beds in the dorm were particularly surprising. A key is provided for the lockers, so you don't need to bring your own. Note that the rosettes in Switzerland are of a slightly different type. The free public transport card provided to guests is a real lifesaver. Breakfast can be ordered for an additional fee (CHF 8). Common spaces are cozy, clean, well maintained. The staff is helpful and friendly. In the context of Swiss prices, the price of accommodation is not very high (city tax - CHF 4 per night - paid at the reception).

There is no air conditioning, so only open windows save you in the hot summer. It's not the hostel's problem, but it happens in this type of accommodation - noisy guests.

Our room was spacious and in excellent condition. Light blocking curtains made it easy to sleep. Bathroom was very large and clean, showers were hot and comfortable. Queen sized bed was comfortably firm. Located in an incredible solar-punk refurbished factory complex, with greenery and garden all around - pick some fresh herbs to make tea!

Our room was beautiful but the patio was located right above the smoking area, which made it much less pleasant to be sitting outside.

Initially, I was alone in a room with provision for four people but they changed me over to a single room for the remainder of my stay. I liked this! I spent my days as a schoolboy in communal dormitories so it's not my preference to sleep with strangers... The room was fine, very quiet and with comfortable chairs. The hostel is located near bars and restaurants as well as a salsa club which holds dances. I liked that too!

Just a minor quibble but I would have liked a small fridge in the rooms for storing food and drink. It cuts costs and Switzerland is an expensive place!

The staff was very friendly. There is enough space in the rooms for everyone, and each bed comes with a corresponding locker that you can lock with a key. Within the hostel there is a shared kitchen with everything you might need to use. There was always hot water for showering. The hostel is about 15 minutes away from the train station, and there is a bus stop across the road. Upon arrival, you receive a Basel card with which you can travel for free in certain zones.

There are no sockets by the bed. Likewise, the lockers are not next to the bed, so it happens that someone wakes you up in the middle of the night because they are using their locker next to your bed. Wi-fi signal is not good everywhere in the hostel, especially in my room.

Although the hostel is of industrial decor, which can feel cold, there is lovely extras that some other hostels do not offer eg free hot drinks/water, soap & paper towels supplied. It's kindness such as these which marks a hostel out from the rest in my opinion. The kitchen was an added bonus. As arriving after 9pm, I expected to use a pin code to get my key, but a staff member was working late so it was nice to deal with him. Basel public transport is excellent & drop off is very close-I found street view very helpful to know where to go in the dark. The Central train station is approx 15 mins walk away and that's close to the beautiful old city.

Only there one night but in that short time didn't find anything I didn't like.
