As the hotel is old, the room is very small.. but valuable for the price.. otherwise every thing is good ..

The hotel employees were friendly and informitive. We received a free room upgrade with out asking. Of course the hotel was not fully booked. The air conditioned room was real nice after spending most of the day in the heat of Ticino. We enjoyed big terrace in the evenings and for sunrise. A great lake view.

Even though the hotel was clean, it does need a facelift. They need to invest in the upgrade for rooms. The furniture and closet we run down with the exception of the wood floor, bed and bathroom. The common areas need new carpets and get rid of the second hand furniture. In any case, the hotel was comfotable.

If you pay extra for a superior room you will have an excellent view of the lake. There is a small piazza between the hotel and the lakefront. The piazza also separates the hotel from the busy street along the lake. If you arrive by rail the train arrives above the town but there is a tram that you can take down to the central plaza. The hotel is a short walk from there along the upscale (Prada, Gucci, etc.) main street. The Ticino Ticket, which they should give you at check-in provides for free local transportation and discounts on various activities through the canton. A 30 minute train ride takes you to Como, Italy (Italy is not covered by the Ticino Ticket.

Our room was adjacent to the outdoor smoking area but there were few smokers so it wasn’t a big deal.

Excellent staff!! The property is older but we LOVED the location and the friendly helpful staff really made this a great place to stay. Be sure to get a room with a balcony. Excellent views. The hotel sits back from the main road, which is nice, and there is a little courtyard in front so nothing obstructs the lake view. The train station is just above the hotel, a half mile walk and pretty, but steep. Bus stop very close to hotel and 10 min ride to the train station if you have luggage or not up for the uphill walk. The continental breakfast at hotel also better than expected. Really good coffee and they have servers (again, really nice staff)

The property had excellent location. We could view the lake right from our bed. The terrace adjoining the room was also spacious. The room was neat and comfortable. It was close to the promenade allowing for morning and evening walks at leisure as well as proximity to the cruise. The staff, Mr. David and his colleague, went out of their way to help us in working on the forms required by our Government to be submitted. Since the Hotel did not have a Kettle for making tea or coffee, Mr. David arranged for one in our room as a special item.

The view from our terrace overlooking the lake was perfect. Well located just an easy walk from the train station and funicular and close to shops, bars and restaurants. Breakfast provided lots of choice and helped us to begin our day feeling refreshed. Helpful, friendly staff throughout.

Great location, and the room had an amazing view of the lake. The beds were new and some furniture as well. The hotel needs some renovation, but it has some style that I appreciated. The staff was terrific! I highly recommend them.

The hotel is clearly dated, but it was comfortable and warm (specially during the cold nights).

Good location next to shopping area, pretty good ratio quality/price (for Switzerland), nice staff. Not a modern deco, but kept clean.

The smell from the bathroom. Luckily there are 2 doors that you can close, but still a bit smelly. TV is small and half of the time didn't really work as channels were scrambled.

Wonderful place to stay in Lugano very central and hotel staff very kind and helpful . The rooms are a bit old fashion but that is the part of charm. We really enjoyed our stay

Breakfast should be revised in terms of diversity but that is fine globally
