Generous and helpful staff. Big, very clean room with a comfy bed. Big shower with very good water pressure. Excellent AC. Plenty of horizontal space and enough outlets for device charging. Great breakfast in bento boxes plus other hot/cold foods on the breakfast island. In the afternoon, they put out tea and candy. The breakfast seating area can later be used for surfing or researching your next stop (would be rude to other guests to work there and take/make work phone calls). Great location is 1/2 block from where food stalls begin and 1 block from the pier. Highly recommended!

Not their fault, but Booking.com says they take credit cards but they only accept cash. Just be aware of this when you arrive… and you will have a great stay here!!

Clean and comfortable room with slippers, nice bathroom, and comfortable bed. Breakfast was filling, and staff were very responsive. Our room had no window, but there are great views within 5 minutes of the hotel’s door. A round trip ticket on the shuttle boat gave us passage to the hotel on one day with a return 2 days later, which was very convenient and cost effective. Hotel is within walking distance to ferries at the pier, the Ita Thao night market, and the Sun Moon Lake ropeway.

The walls are thin, admitting lots of noise throughout the night and early morning.

Location was good as the hotel was near Ita Thao shopping area - the main shopping area in Sun Moon Lake. The lady at the hotel reception was very helpful and patiently explained things to us even though our Chinese was not that great. It helps to know some basic Chinese when you visit Taiwan as restuarant menus, and a lot of signage is in Chinese. The boat ride on the lake was great!

Sun Moon Lake itself is a vast lake and the tourist attractions around it are quite a distance from one another. No trains operate around the area and the only transport is by foot, bus or taxi or boat.

The hotel is very well located, Ita Thao and the whole Sun moon lake area is stunningly beautiful. The room is extraordinarily spacious, very clean and well equipped. The bathroom is also big, with a spacious shower. We felt very comfortable. Breakfast is included - you get a bento box plus whatever you choose from the buffet. And the service is excellent. The host was especially lovely, attentive and helpful. If we ever come back to Sun moon lake we will definitely stay at Tai Hu Hotel again.

Did a last minute booking as my kids were car sick and had to change the itinerary at the last minute. But my card somehow was rejected during booking. But I was afraid it might be a scam and hence asked the hotel staff to verify. Hotel staff were flexible in not requiring a credit card booking ultimately. Hotel location is at the heart of the Ita Tao Pier, so good location if you don't mind not being at the main harbour, Shuishe Pier. Liked the breakfast too.

Hotel is abit on the older side, but not run down - is reflective in the pricing.

Staff very friendly, could speak English, location central and convenient access to the lake and mountain, breakfast delicious, all amenities, very clean, comfortable beds, fridge, towels. The TV set is even greeting you with your name. You could watch Taiwan travel information. The wall patterns in the shower were great. WIFI was fast. The free tea and cafe in the room also great.

There was no window. You could stumble on something on the floor near the desk. The chair for the desk was too small and low. The shower glass door did not close by slides open, I guess the installers didn't use a spirit level. The drawer of the desk had a slightly moldy smell when you open it. The fridge was a bit noisy, I needed earplugs to sleep.

The hotel is very well located in Ita Thao, very close to the lake. As for me, from all the accomodations we stayed in Taiwan, this hotel has the best stuff. I've been informed about all eventualities (no window in the room we chose + no possibility to pay with a card) in advance by e-mail, that made things a lot easier. Even when staying in the hotel, the guy from the stuff (a was very helpfull and outgoing.

We were 4 guys staying in 2 rooms for 2 nights, the need to pay cash (we've been informed ahead) meant we had to have put aside a bigger bunch of banknotes. In general, we expected before the trip to be able to pay more stuff with a card, but on the end we needed often cash.

We love the location, the friendly service, and the awesome breakfast bento, The location was right by the Ita Thao shopping district and night market, and minutes walk to the jetty to take the ferry. They provide private parking. The breakfast bento is very fresh and delicious, and breakfast bar with unlimited miso soup, coffee / tea, fresh squeezed juice, bread/toast, butter and jams.

The bed is a little firmer than we would like. Its a personal preference.

While I know that the Shuishe Pier area is where many Sun Moon Lake visitors prefer to stay, I chose to stay at Ita Thao because I wanted to have the local street food for dinner — and I think I made the right decision choosing this hotel. It's conveniently located just a short walk away from Ita Thao pier and the bus station, and the lady at reception was so friendly and helpful. I got good value for money because the hotel, despite its unassuming exterior, was pretty comfortable and clean. Though my room didn't have a window, it wasn't an issue for me. I had a good night's sleep, and the room was spacious enough. Breakfast is also included in the price, and it was filling and delicious. The next day, after checkout, the lady at reception was once again so kind and helpful; she gave me tips regarding the bus and ferry, and wished me well in my travels. I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit Sun Moon Lake.

The only issue I had was with my keycard; I had to have it fixed a few times because it would work one time then stop working the next. But other than that, I didn't have any other issues with this hotel.
