The location is perfect! Very close to the beach! And we arrived earlier and they kindly allowed us to do that. Fresh fruit is also available for the guests.

The Toilet didn’t look as expected, but it was fine to use. Just not as in the picture of the booking

Overall we had a great stay thanks to the hospitality of Mohammed. His caring, friendly nature made all the difference and nothing we asked was ever too much. The location is great, only a short walk away from the beach!

The owners usually linger about all day and seemed rather unfriendly so much so that the “hello” on our last day surprised us. Pictures are either very old or very well edited. We were VERY satisfied with our stay but the pictures do paint a better picture. There is building works right opposite which can start at 8am and finish late. Okay if you are out and about all day but unrelaxing during the day or even at breakfast.

All the people in Zanzibar are so good and friendly but the staff in Papaya…they are something different. They are the most friendly and calm people you’ll ever met and you must be sure that your stay here will be 100% better than any other place. You will get delicious fruits for breakfast every single morning and as you wait for the breakfast you can enjoy the music they listen while preparing the food. The beach is just 2 minutes away and you can find many places to have lunch or dinner around. There’s not mosquitoes in the rooms and if there’s, be sure that Mohamed will help you with that. I had a fantastic stay at Papaya Guest House with two friends for a week, and we loved every bit of it. The location is unbeatable — just a stone's throw from the beach and a short stroll to local shops, restaurants, bars, and ATM. Our room, though basic, had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The included breakfast was delicious and provided a hearty start to our days of adventure. We also indulged in some other dishes from the menu, which were equally delightful.The staff at Papaya Guest House were exceptional; they were incredibly helpful and made us feel completely at home throughout our stay. Their hospitality truly added to the overall experience.Considering the quality of stay, Papaya Guest House offers excellent value for money. Without a doubt, we'll be returning here for our next trip. Highly recommended!

We stayed in Nungwi/Zanzibar in a group for 2 weeks. The Papaya Guest House near the breathtaking beach offers a comfortable and inviting stay for guests. The staff is very friendly. They help you with everything. Also the cleaning ladies are great. When you ask them, they will clean your room, every second day. It’s like 3 minutes from the beach. Very beautiful beach! Also ATM and restaurants, bar and clubs right around the corner. The room is very big.

There are some animals in the room, because the door has a gap on the ground, where they can crawl under it.

Staff were very friendly. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Everything we needed for this stay. Very close to the beach, great breakfast. The terrace and outdoor areas were also lovely.

WiFi wasn’t working in the bedrooms. Had mosquito net but unfortunately had holes in which meant mosquitoes could enter. Very easy things to fix and we still had a great time.

Big Ali and Little Ali are the life of the hotel and go out of their way to make your stay amazing. We wanted to go scuba diving and they woke up early to pack us the most delicious breakfast, opening the kitchen an hour early just for us. Then we had to book a ride and ferry to Dar Es Salaam. They arranged transport for us at cheaper rates than outside taxis and Big Ali personally went with us to buy ferry tickets. Never seen such hospitality. This place is amazing value for money and its hosts cannot be beat anywhere. Will come again.

The guest house it's literally 3 minutes walking from Nungwi Beach and close to all bars and shops. The environment is very friendly and it's really like being at home. Food is very good both for breakfast and dinner. Staff is nice and they supported us to book excursions and to rent the motorbike (including obtaining the permit). You can wash clothes and enjoy the company of two dogs and one cat. The place is safe, with security guard all nights at the entrance.

- The windows are sooo small no light and no air comes in. Since there is no AC (which is ok) the fan should be stronger. Without big windows to make the air come in, it is really hot inside the rooms. Bigger windows would be an amazing upgrade to this proprety!! - The light in the room is reallyyy low. don't even think about reading in your bed or working. - There is only 1 socket in the entire room. more would be very useful. - The wifi only work near the reception and in the rooms near to it. if your room is too far. no wifi. even when full signal the speed is very very low
