When my two friends and I arrived, we were immediately charmed by the outdoor reception (see photo)! The receptionist Shafii and the owner of the hotel are incredibly friendly and helped us organize excursions, get a SIM card, get cheap cabs and much more. The room is exactly as described in the pictures and was cleaned thoroughly every day :) The breakfast is very varied and therefore there was something for each of us! The location is incredible - right on the beach (20 meters) and many bars/restaurants nearby. After a long stay we noticed that the beach section, which belongs to the hotel, is the most beautiful (see photo)!

Very comfortable and clean. Slept like a baby except for Friday because of a nearby party that lasted till 2 am. No mosquitoes, they offered to spray any-mosquitoe daily but I didn't even require on any day. Very cold AC, but the weather was good, I didn't need it much, there is also a fan in the room. Bathroom was ok, warm water was always available. Location is absolutely amazing, located in the most clean and beautiful part of the beach, very near to activities and good restaurants with good variety of food. The hotel restaurant (Zava Resturant) was very beautiful, beach front, delicious meals, wifi connection. Staff were remarkably helpful and nice, they made our 4 nights stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you very much Mr Shafee and Mr. Iman for your good welcoming and for always smiling.

Not much really. I had a very pleasant stay. Only: The room needed more light. Had some trouble with WiFi but the manager helped me to fix it, then it was ok.

Relatively basic rooms in a small relaxed resort. Tasty a la carte breakfast, and the restaurant and sun beds on the beach in front of it made it a lovely place to completely relax and chill.

Nice rooms, our room had a funny smell though. Staff was friendly, food was nice and the hotel bar and area right by the water was amazing. The hotel has free sun beds for their guests. The area is filled with nice restaurants and bars

There are a lot of salesmen in the beach which can be very annoying and disturbing when you are trying to relax. There is a couple of hours or three every day where the tides are quite big, and you can’t cool in the ocean. We were there during full moon so it was a bit more extreme with the tides

Perfect friendly staff, Shafii was doing his best to meet our demands, even the manager Mr Iman was doing far above his duties in an uneasy situation (mobile left behind in the streetmarket and given back!). The restaurant and other staff was perfect as well. Thank you for all, it could hardly be better. It is definitelly not a luxury resort like elsewhere, more like homely cute family smallish resort. You feel safe (day and night guard) and nursed. Lukas+family

It was a bit noise from neighbouring hotel 2 nights but not dramatically much.

Zava Nungwi is a really comfortable spot with a great location, right on the beach. All of the food available at the on site restaurant was standout excellent, and we loved having our toes in the sand for breakfast in the morning. We really appreciated having a water cooler to use to refill our bottles- a small extra touch. The beach in Nungwi is not especially wide, but the spot right by Zava is the best place for swimming in the surrounding area. I was a little concerned that the area would be loud at night due to lots of restaurants and bars nearby, but it was really nice and quiet. We also really appreciated the air conditioning!

Basic, but really clean room with a fridge and plenty hot water in the shower. Great location with the restaurant part of the hotel right on the beach, fantastic views, and good-sized breakfast with fresh juice and fruit included. The food at the restaurant was really tasty and we ate there several nights. All the staff members were lovely and extremely friendly. Free beach beds for guests to use. Highly recommended

The mosquito net didn't cover the bed well enough, and it had holes in it.

the breakfast was located on the beach. Very good fresh fruit, coffee and fruit juice. A choice of simple other dishes like poached eggs, or v good pancakes. Available from 8-10am. The hotel only has 9 rooms, lots of staff, full security at night , rooms cleaned well every day. The rooms are yards from the beach bar and beach itself. The beach and sea are fantastic, crystal-clear water Plus the sunset is breath-taking. Staff couldn't be more helpful free sunbeds on the beach There are plenty of places is eat a short walk away

You shouldn't expect 5 star hotel luxury eg shower is fine but functional. There was a little bit of noise at night but nothing that stopped me sleeping But this is Africa and I'd 100% recommend don't be surprised how far the tide goes out and when the locals come to collect shellfish

Best place for casual stay in Nungwi! Great atmosphere, attention devoted to details but still overall very relaxed vibe. Room was spacious, very well cleaned and maintained (every day fresh towels, cleaned, new coffee/tea bags); management team and stuff super welcoming and friendly, problem-solving oriented if needed. There’s also ZaVa restaurant on the beach, which is a great place to be for a chill breakfast but also for nice dinner with a view. All the food we had was fresh, delicious and decently priced. It’s possible to park a car in front of the entrance on the street.
