Everything. Everything was perfect for a week-long stay. If you are looking for a generic five-star luxury hotel that could be anywhere in the world, pay thousands for Pimalai down the road. If you are looking for peace, quiet, a stunning beach, in an authentic, relaxing resort run by the most friendly, attentive staff you could wish for... this is the place. We visited in April and *still* daydream about that walk down through the trees, past the pool, to the beach. Just to address some of the themes among the negative reviews: A) There are minor parts of the resort that could do with a little bit of renovation, but nothing at all that even remotely affected our stay. B) The location is more remote than most resorts, but this simply made the holiday 100 times better. The north end of the island is congested with resorts, quite busy and, in places, a bit tacky. However, the south end of the island where La Laanta is based is beautifully peaceful, the food at the resort is excellent (we ate there daily and loved it) and most activities like scuba diving and boat trips send a free car to shuttle you around the island anyway. The La Laanta staff even dropped up off at the next bay for free one day. La Laanta is authentic, beautiful and we'd not hesitate recommending it to anyone. To the staff, thank you *so* much – you are all amazing. Hopefully we'll be back some day!

We stayed 4 nights and I loved everything about the hotel. The food was amazing. The pool and beach were very nice. The owners arranged transportation for free to and from the La Lanta festival on the other side of the island.

The only negative was that because the hotel is remote, the drive from the ferry pier was expensive upon arrival and the drive to the Krabi airport was expensive upon departure.

Wow! This place was unreal, so laid back and right on the beach. The beach was essentially a private beach to the hotel (not sure if that’s because I stayed in low season). My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights, we wanted to relax and spend our days by the pool and on the front patio of our bungalow. This accomodation was the perfect choice for that. There are hammocks and swings throughout the resort, each one of them being in the shade for atleast some part of the day. This resort is incredibly well built, the front patio of the bungalows is in the shade pretty much all day which is ideal as Thailand is so hot. Each bungalow also feels quite private as they are not attached to each other and each one has its own small garden around it. They also all face the beach which is nice. The aircon in our bungalow worked great and the bungalow itself is spacious, the bathroom was nice also. The pool was nice and also shaded for some of the day. My partner and I decided not to hire a moped and just 100% chill mode it for a few days. I actually highly recommend doing this whilst travelling because it can get tiresome so was very nice to recharge. We ate all our meals at the resort, the food quality was good and not thattt outrageously priced. We actually loved eating at the restaurant at the resort, with our feet in the sand and heaps of hermit crabs walking around. Would definitely stay again.

Everything was great, it is the most south accomodation on the island so if your wanting to be more central to cafes etc this might not be the accomodation for you.

Breakfast was very good and there was a variety of different dishes with an opportunity to order freshly made pancakes, eggs, etc. Prices in the restaurant were fair even though more expensive than in the centre but drinks were a bit expensive. The staff was really nice and helpful. We loved our bungalow, there was enough space for storage, a little fridge, balcony, the bathroom was pretty and had both a shower and a bath, and was cleaned every day. Two pools were great as well, offering a view at the sea. Bamboo beach is beautiful and not crowded- it is very southern so not many tourists get there. We also saw monkeys, burde and other animals. Using a kayak is included in price and there is a nice beach with a bar 20 minutes away. Renting a scooter was a great and cheap option, but you have to be careful cause there are a few hills before you get to the centre. It was also the only option to get out of the resort, go to 7eleven or some other restaurants. There is nothing within the walking distance. Overally, the place is beautiful, with great ambience, delicious breakfast, tasty food in a restaurant and a beautiful, romantic beach.

The only slight minus was the location. On one hand it is good because it's beautiful and not crowded but you also have to rent a scooter to get anywhere.

The location on Bamboo beach was fantastic. Our room overlooked the swimming pools and the beach. The rooms were nicely furnished and maintained daily. All rooms are close to the amenities, bar, breakfast, restaurant and reception. Good strong air conditioning and net over bed. Clean beautiful pools, one an infinity pool where you can overlook the beach. The beach is hard to better, practically empty with a herd of cows who walk a long daily. There are a couple of entertaining monkey troops early in the morning that can play with whatever you leave out on your balcony if you’re not careful! The staff couldn’t do enough , always going that extra mile. They are exceptionally welcoming and friendly and the beach massages are fantastic. You won’t find better. If you are looking for a tranquil, relaxing break I highly recommend La Laanta.

Nothing.

Absolutely beautiful resort right on the beach in the south of the island. Beautiful pool. Tasty food. Lovely staff. Beach on the doorstep. Bungalows are clean and has everything you need. If you’re looking for somewhere peaceful and just to escape and relax, this place is perfect. Just wish we could have stayed longer.

It is secluded which is a part of its beauty. So you are away from shops and other restaurants but you have everything you need at the resort. It’s a small sacrifice to pay for such a perfect getaway

This is a lovely resort at the very end of the island. There is nothing else there, apart from a small hotel at the far end of the beach As a result, it is very quiet. Often, there are only a handful of people on the beach. The resort is a group of bungalows/cabins set in a lovely garden with lots of greenery and a stream. The rooms are spacious with a platform bed, sofa, veranda and a big bathroom. Everything is spotless. Good shower. We thought that the food was really good. There's a good choice. We didn't have a single disappointment. The prices are the same as ordinary, small restaurants. They have not pushed them up because of a captive audience. The only thing I'd suggest is to keep a few glasses in the fridge. Good breakfast too. The staff are lovely - helpful and friendly. Thank you, Tik for writing our names in Thai script! There are two pools. A bit of lounger bagging goes on, which is always a shame. But there are other options such as hammocks. I had two good massages at the tented area by the beach. The staff keep the grounds tidy. Everything looks simple and laid back, but a lot of hard work goes in to keep it looking like that. A great place to kick back and relax.

The mattress was a little hard/thin. Apart from that everything was great.

This was absolutely our favourite place to stay in during our honeymoon in Thailand! They kindly upgraded us into a bungalow with beautiful views and we felt treated specially for the whole stay. The bed was super comfortable, a great bathroom and lots of areas to lounge at (sofa inside bungalow, private front terrace, around the 2 pools or on the beach front). There is such a relaxed yet “luxury” vibe to LaLaanta Hideaway, which sits nestled behind palm trees right on the beautiful bamboo beach that we often had to ourselves. The food served at the restaurant was also delicious. Cute cats, playful monkeys and a chorus of frogs kept us entertained as we enjoyed the area and facilities.

Nothing - not the cheapest place around but we felt it was worth the spend. Perhaps a word of warning for those who want to do activities, since this is the most remote part of the island, any picks up and drop offs take at least 1 hour because you’d be the first and last people dropped off.

Location - almost all the way at bottom of the island, so quiet & peaceful

The only thing I would mention - & not a huge deal to most I suspect - if you have one of the garden villas quite far from the beach/pool, you may not want to be sitting outside as the mosquitos - for me at least - were voracious, despite applying repellent - but as I said, could just be me!

Large & comfortable rooms. Excellent location on a lovely beach (be careful not to step on the hermit crabs at night) and close to the national park. A motorbike was handy for little trips into the local village or the park. Breakfast was lovely. Staff are very friendly. Amazing pool with plenty of shaded areas.

Bikes were BT300 per day compared to BT250 on Long Beach (centre of the island). Not a major negative but parts of the sand near the beach chairs could have been a little tidier to bring the standard to a 10.
