Tranquile location at far end of the beach. Fantastic coral reef 100 m outside hotel beach - not damaged or over-exploited. Best snorkelling on island. We stayed 4 nights due to this. Nice restaurant with stunning view, good breakfast. Reading comments on all hotels at Koh Ngai stating ”overpriced hotel” and that is in one way true - the bungalows are simple, a bit worn, and many hotels lack pool. But remember - you pay for the location on this beautiful island, not for a luxury hotel. Personnel nice and helpful.

No beach strip at all at high tide, and very shallow sea at low tide, but plenty of sunbeds overlooking the sea. However missed the super soft sand found in other locations on the island. A pool would have compensated somewhat. Extremely hard beds - as often in older hotels. However tasty and beautiful restaurant at daytime - not the cosiest restaurant at night. Coco Hotel next door was a better option with cool design and great food.

there were no mosquito net in the family room, I could have turn off the AC to save some electricity, but we had to leave the AC on entire night so prevent from mosquito bite. There were no small size fin available.

We had an amazing stay at Thapwarin Resort. The location is outstanding - right on the beach with palm trees swaying over the crystal-clear water and views of the nearby islets. The deck at Thapwarin is superb, a place where you can enjoy some food & drinks and admire the setting. The rooms were great (surrounded by lush trees and chirping birds), the staff were friendly and the food was nice. We even had the good fortune of meeting the owners of the resort who offered us a ride to Trang City when we couldn't find a taxi at Pak Meng Pier. They were so lovely and we hope to meet them again on our next visit to Ko Ngai. I can't recommend this place enough! Ko Ngai was probably the most beautiful island we have visited in Thailand.

really calm, tropical island with pure nature. there was no rubbish. the hotel has an Italian chef so besides Italian and Thai cuisine you can expect nice fusion of tastes. the waterfront house was made with a taste.

The room was really nice ! Large bathroom and cozy. The bed had a mosquito net which is really enjoyable. In front of the beach , we could enjoy an amazing view with some trees. You have to swim a bit far for the snorkeling for a fee if you wanna equipment provided by the hotel. The restaurant was good and affordable considering the prices that you may see in other areas around or Phuket. The restaurant's staff was really nice ! The hotel is located on a beach were other restaurants are reachable by walk, so this is a great positive point if you wanna eat somewhere else. The place is charming and quiet in the evening. In overall, in an island like Koh Ngai, i may come back to such hotel.

Long swim for snorkeling. The beach around has some jellyfish purple, but i don't thing they are harmful.

Our visit to Ko Ngai and Thapwarin was part of a much-delayed honeymoon, so our hopes were high. We were looking for somewhere peaceful and welcoming, to fall asleep to the sound of the waves and to wake to a view of the beach and the open sea. We got what we needed! Ko Ngai is mercifully still not too developed and just has a few resorts along the long main beach, with very few large permanent buildings, so as you approach on a longboat you can really take in the beautiful beach and the jungle behind without concrete resorts getting in the way. The sea here is not crowded with boats or people, and there is a long sandy shelf extending several hundred metres which makes the water fairly shallow and colours it a beautiful, soft cyan (which is very photogenic). Thapwarin is towards the northern end of the beach. Staying in a beach front bungalow we were just a few seconds' walk from the water and from the sunbeds, deck chairs and hanging beds laid out a few metres from the waterline. The room was very comfortable, air conditioned, with a lovely open air bathroom. A couple of reviews have said the beds are a bit firm but acknowledged this might be down to personal preference - so, just to balance this out, I can say that we both have back problems and slept better here than anywhere else we had stayed so far. Possibly because we were so relaxed but the bed didn't get in the way! Side note, the WiFi is surprisingly good for somewhere so remote and on the few occasions where it wasn't so great there was also a pretty good 4G (and sometimes even 5G) mobile signal. But sometimes I wished it would cut out so I would have no excuse to do anything but read a book and go swimming... The food at the restaurant was great. After three weeks in Cambodia and Thailand, I didn't feel guilty ordering western food from time to time and the truffle carbonara was very tasty. Equally though, the Massaman, the green curry and everything else we had was excellent as well.

We enjoyed the semi jungle setting of the bungalows and the environmentally friendly theme. The resort has got a very relaxed feel. We enjoyed the breakfast selection with lots of fresh fruit, Thai food and options for cooked eggs. All supplies arrive by boat and we were amazed by the selection of foods for lunch and dinner.

Our room had a slight damp smell which the air conditioner made bearable

If you want to spend your time sitting in the sun or shade and gazing out at a beautiful sea, reading a book on your patio, or in your air-conditioned bungalow, eating whenever you feel like it, or snorkeling the reef just off your beach, then you simply must stay here. Our bungalow had a sea view, and it was so lovely and comfortable that I was grinning just walking into it. The resort itself is small and very well looked after. The staff (especially Toy in the restaurant!) are so friendly and welcoming that you will be immediately at your ease. We felt so welcomed and well-looked after here - and we were! I read a number of reviews before booking, and many of them had issues with the food - especially the breakfast. I honestly don't understand the issues. The breakfast, while the same for the 3 days we were there, was fresh and abundant. Eggs made to order, fruit, Thai favs - it was all there. AND there is filtered coffee - the first I've had included in a stay here in Thailand. The menu for lunch and dinner is not fancy, but there's something for everyone and it's delivered quickly. In short, we were very, very happy with this resort and the value it offered, and we recommend it to anyone looking to relax, unwind and enjoy a slice of paradise. Bonus: We were treated to a visit from a Great Hornbill - amazing!!!

A minor quibble: more beach chairs would be helpful, as many folks claim what's available for the full day, leaving you searching for a spot to sit and enjoy the view.

Thapwarin is one of the most amazing resorts I've ever been in. It exceeded our expectations by miles. If you are looking for a quit place with beautiful nature, you're at the right spot. JJ, the manager and all the other staff were absolutely amazing and helpful. The beach is beautiful and you're right on the reef if you go snorkeling. The garden of Thapwarin is one of my personal favourites. With a kinono dragon greeding you alongside the bridge, birds end beautiful palmtrees.

The beds are a bit harsh for our personal taste. But that's alsmost everywhere in Thailand. For the rest I can't think of anything.
