The staff from start to finish were amazing. The room was perfect and so comfortable and big. They loved having the dog with me and treated the dog as well as myself? Water bowl in room upon arrival, a little welcome box of treats for dog. Views onto the garden area at the front. Perfect areas to walk the dog. Dog was welcomed in the restaurant and bar area. Cocktail bar was lovely and relaxed, with a nice sofa in front of the lovely Christmas tree. Had a pre dinner drink in the bar where I had come complimentary canapes and a drink. They also were aware it was my birthday and gave me a free drink. Dinner was amazing- had two courses. Ribeye steak was A+. Went back to the bar for a couple of more drinks before a end of night dog-walk around the grounds and bed. Breakfast next morning was lovely and they came out with a sausage for the dog so she was not left out!
Absolutely nothing. Was an amazing hotel and stay. Wished I could have stayed longer. Well done hotel and staff! You will see me again.

Recently renovated hotel so very clean and comfortable. The original building is a splendid old Manor House with big windows and good views. Lounges on 2 sides of same elegant bar very clever. Good reading lights next to beds - important to us but a rarity these days! Staff were very friendly indeed and most welcoming. The evening meal was very good. Very inventive food - a more creative menu than many and very well cooked. Intense tastes and a good variety of them.
Breakfast did not quite live up to the evening meal. Fresh fruit available which is good but it was not really tender or tasty enough. Toast was only cooked on one side which was a bit bizarre and one of the pots of coffee was on the cool side. The cooked breakfasts were very good, though. Fresh local produce and nice crushed avocado on sourdough. These are minor points - we really enjoyed our stay and plan to return.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The decor was lovely and the room spacious and comfortable. Shower was powerful and large. Everything was very clean. Parking outside the front door. Breakfast was delicious.
TV in the room did not work properly - kept losing the signal. As we were only staying for one night it wasn't an issue but for a longer stay it would be annoying. A couple of minor things - the bathroom was lovely but needs additional or larger shelving for toiletries. As mentioned we were only staying one night so that wasn't a big deal but for a longer stay it wouldn't be ideal. At breakfast the cooked food was delicious and cooked to order but the buffet part was lacking in yoghurt. Maybe available on request but not laid out. Very small criticisms of what was a lovely and too short stay!

We stayed here for a little “mini moon” and it was the best experience. We booked a pod, which is located next to the Manor House. The pod was absolutely amazing, there is a screen on the wall where you can adjust heating, mood lighting, heat the floors, connect Bluetooth to play music. So luxurious! The hot tub was lovely and hot, even though it was freezing and windy outside, once you got in the hot tub it was lovely! We didn’t book into the Manor House restaurant as we visited a local pub (the cross inn, would 100% recommend), but we had breakfast the next morning which was delicious. There was continental to help yourself to including pastries, fruit, cereal and juice. The waitress offered us tea coffee and toast. Then we picked from the menu a traditional full English which was delicious. We planned to go sight seeing but didn’t end up leaving the pod, it was so relaxing. Everyone was so kind and we have already decided we will visit again on our wedding anniversary!
Absolutely nothing. It’s such a beautiful place

Stayed in the pod and it was nice and quiet. Everything was clean. Most of the staff were friendly.
There was a staff member on the morning shift who’s attitude was disgusting. We arrived and give our room number and someone had marked us off already. I showed her our room key and gave my name and it was like she wasn’t going to let us in. We got shown a table which was half set. She seemed like she really could not be bothered to take our order or even be there. We didn’t get another table setting until another member of staff mentioned it. I’ve worked in hospitality for over 10 years so I understand the stress but they had plenty of staff.

when we arrived we were like the wow factor staff member Leslie was exemplary, I have coeliac disease, so when I was ordering food, rather than tell me it was ok to eat, she made a point of going back and forward to ask the chef if it was OK for me to eat, I really appreciated this, she is a great asset to your team. at breakfast when I asked for gluten free cereal, I was told there was none, the GM went to the shop and nought some, which I appreciated.
I have coeliac disease and was accidentally glutened, on reporting this to the staff it was dealt with immediately by lynne the duty manager and James the General manager

The property was fine and in an excellent location. The food was excellent and the staff lovely
We felt it was overpriced for what it was. Also your Booking. com system booked us in for the same period into 2 separate rooms. I called the hotel to check our reservation and they alerted me to this. I immediately cancelled one of the rooms but was still charged a cancellation fee of £190. I only ever wanted one room for 2 nights. I would be grateful if you would consider reimbursing me for this amount. I am a regular user of Booking. com and now, as a pensioner, do not understand how this double booking was made

The staff are extremely pleasant and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was wonderful, especially the cooked breakfast. We tried a variety of options, none of which would leave even the most vocacious anythitg but full! Kippers were cooked perfectly, the poached eggs were amazing, and the full English was excellent. The location is really convenient, just off the A1 but nicely set away from it so it is not noisy. For us it was ideal and quiet, the communal areas were very comfortable and inviting and the room facilities were ideal.
The lack of air conditioning in our room was a problem on our first night after a fairly warm (but not roasting hot) day. We were grateful for the fan provided but still had quite a sleepless night. On arrival, the signage for the check in parking was easy to miss so we followed signs to the main carpark which was a fair way to carry our bags from. Our mistake, but signs earlier on the drive would be helpful.

Brilliant and varied
Having such a small room with absolutely no where to put any folded items.I don’t like our clothes being kept in the case. There were no decent sized drawers whatsoever other than tiny bedside table drawers. Our room was more suited to an overnight stay rather than for 3 days our booking with Booking .com also quoted a room with a sea view. I accepted the booking on that basis as we were there for a personal celebration on arrival we found it was a room with a garden view. I was very disappointed and was advised that it was an error with Booking .com who should have quoted a room with a view of the garden or a sea view.

Excellent food, we had Tapas both nights superb. Lovely location and friendly staff , nice room overall
Promised a coffee machine, says in brochure or real coffee bought to room ,but asked and said they did not do, but it's on the website and in brochure. Silly things but no shower cap, and shower soap provided on 2nd day. Little things , but mentioned so it's put right for others.
