Located close to the harbor and the various sightseeing spots. Staff are courteous Common kitchen had a good dining area and having a fridge was great

We had booked for a private room with twin beds but we were accommodated into a 5-bed room. While room was spacious and no one else was booked into the room, our beds were not beside one another was we had wanted. There was someone's shoe in one of the cupboards and a used water bottle near one of the beds Water in wash basin didn't drain very well

For a youth hostel, despite basic furnishings in the room, this proved an excellent choice for a short stopover. Not stayed in a YHA for many years, but the heritage building was lovely, the facilities good, and the location was second to none. Will definitely be back, and then make use of the excellent shared kitchen. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The room was a little more basic than it needed be. Like having nowhere to put down things in the wetroom shower without them getting wet. Some of the guests were a bit rude to the staff at breakfast, turning up late and then demanding it be put out again, which felt a shame. Get with the team folks.

Very friendly helpful staff, interesting mix of purpose within the renovated old granary. Good to see an old building repurposed instead of flattened. Ground floor cafe/open space well used warm and welcoming, food good and reasonably priced. Only 10 mins walk from the railway station, easy access to coastal path and beaches very pleasant couple of days spent here

The mattress might not be to everyone's like, that's a very personal thing. But all linen clean and comfortable. Nothing else to say.

This is a very modern hostel that has set a high benchmark for hostel accommodation. It has simple rooms but they are clean and comfortable with good heating. A great commercial style kitchen to cook for yourself or a bistro that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner options for pretty cheap prices. The location is excellent - right in the centre of town. We are bike packers and were able to keep our bikes secure in their purpose built bike shed. We were also able to check in early which we appreciated.

We got quite a frosty welcome by the two staff members at reception and were made to feel like we were an inconvenience by showing up at 2pm asking to store our bikes and packs until check in time, even though this is what we’d been advised to do by the establishment. Perhaps they were having a bad day and didn’t feel like being at work - and my advice would be perhaps find a job not in customer service if it’s not your thing!! We found all the other staff members to be lovely.

Location was excellent. Historical building. Excellent facilities - food, bar, café, local information, second hand books to buy, seating for dining and relaxing, outdoor seating.

The shower. It felt like a shower at school from the 1980s. No shower head so flow was in a narrow stream and whilst I appreciate the flooring is practical it didn’t feel nice underfoot and it was wet as shower didn’t drain completely. It was hot though. Also not a fan of the plastic mattresses. Again, I know it’s practical but perhaps washable mattress protectors could improve this.

Comfortable rooms, decent sized bathroom, very clean and quiet space. Downstairs cafe was lovely. Great location as well with plenty of free overnight parking.

I did not love that I had to book the entire 5 person dorm when there were only three of us and the other two beds sat empty. Felt like an unnecessary expense. I’m sure a solo traveler would not have to books whole room so I’m wondering if I should have made three bookings instead of one as a group.

The whole experience of staying in the hostel met all my expectations inasmuch that I required accommodation central to all of the places I wished to visit during my short stay. It was quiet and had a quaint charm suited to my requirements.

A very small observation was the lack of serviettes in the eatery and maybe a wider choice of cereal ie muesli or granola. Apart from that I can’t really think of anything that marred my stay.

Everything! We often stay in youth hostels and love their relaxed simple style and the possibility to self cater. The Berwick YH is brilliantly placed in the centre of the old town with parking nearby and has wonderful facilities. We were very tired after travelling down from the Highlands and delighted to find we could still order a delicious cooked meal. Such friendly and welcoming staff, impeccably clean rooms and facilities, a very efficient lift to the rooms on the third and fourth floors and great views out of them. a perfect stop-over and we so hope to come again!

The building is beautiful! The downstairs communal area is fab! Kitchen was large and plenty of areas to prepare food of choosing to do so. Location is very central and close to some nice bars and restaurants. Had a whole dorm to myself the first night as ot was pretty quiet and the next had a shared dorm with a mate. Very comfortable beds and the hostel is clean. Staff nice and friendly.

N/a: great hostel.
