Easy and flexible check in and out. Owner was very friendly and helpful. I had been ill over night and he allowed us to stay as long as we needed the next morning, and even gave me a free drink (fruit shoot thing) as I had been unwell. Even though its in a pub, the room was lovely and quiet. It was a lovely spacious room and a travel cot was also provided when requested and There was a fan in the room. I didn't get to have the breakfast but the husband had no complaints. Would stay here again.

The only problem we had (and it's not really a problem) was that the shower shot over the side of the bath while on and although you could move the shower, it wouldn't stay where you moved it to, so while i was enjoying my shower (its a good shower 👌)the bathroom floor was soaking. I informed them and they said they would have a look at it.

We found The Bickford Arms pleasurable and comfortable. The room was bright and airy but still gave a feeling of warmth and cosines. The staff were so very accommodating and went out of their way to please us. It was a pleasure to talk to Keith about any subject.

Being of the older generation we had a problem bringing down our luggage but understandably they do not have a lift.

Mum and I had a lovely stay at The Bickford Arms. All the staff were very welcoming and helpful, the food was delicious and the pub itself was very cosy. Would definitely recommend.

If I had to pick something that wasn't quite so good, I'd say that it would have been nice if the teacups had been changed daily and teabags/coffee etc. refilled. Not too much of a problem, we just rinsed our cups in the bathroom and asked for more teabags etc but it would be a nice touch to come back each day to fresh cups.

What a lovely hidden gem this place is 😁 5* When we pulled up my boy was upset as we always stay at Travelodge or Premier Inn when going away and he had never stayed in a pub before. We were greeted by a lovely lady at the front of house who showed us to our room. We played Pool with some of the locals and had a chat with them and had a great time. We then met the owner of the pub who was such a sweet, down to earth nice guy. Even the housekeeping staff were welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was superb. Me and my son went for a walk and even saw some Emu's nearby! 😁 I'm definitely coming here again. Next time I will be avoiding big Chains and staying local. These guys went above and beyond to make our stay special for a fraction of the bigger brands. If you're staying in Devon (especially for a family getaway) "the Bickford Arms" will make your stay memorable and special 🙂

I Loved this place so much but the only small critique I would have is the limited kids menu. This place is perfect for a family but could do with some more child friendly food options

We stayed one night at the Bickford Arms as we were visiting my son, who is studying nearby. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and checked us in as soon as we arrived. We ate dinner at the pub and the food was very tasty with generous portions. The bed was comfortable and a the shower was powerful. The breakfast staff were as lovely as the staff who had checked us in and the breakfast was very good. All in all we had a lovely stay and we will definitely be booking again next time we visit my son

The welcome from the host and the friendliness of the staff. The room was clean and had the availability of kettle and selection of sachets. The room was quiet and I had 2 good nights sleep on the comfortable bed. The shower was large and had plenty of hot water.

The listing said that breakfast was included but on the day I was charged £5 extra per person for breakfast. I understand totally why this was necessary with increased costs etc but this information should have been shared via Booking.com as it could have made a difference to my choosing where to stay.

Everything! Really lovely staff. Friendly and helpful. It was my husbands birthday and they put balloons and banners in the room and a complimentary bottle of lager and prosecco in the room on our arrival. Our room was so lovely with a balcony spacious and clean. The bed was so comfy. Lovely big tv. Loved Bath with bubble jets. Fantastic stay thankyou. We will be back!

We weren't there long enough! Really wanted to stay longer. One night wasn't enough!

Working, easy to use car charger Good walking country. Friendly towards dogs. Very friendly staff. Room convienient for the dogs.

Lack of street lights for last walk at night, as it is on a very fast junction.

Breakfast was perfectly acceptable and a good selection. Staff are cheerful and friendly which is nice when you travel alone. What was amazing was that by Friday night during this exceptional heatwave, Keith had sourced brilliant fans for the bedrooms. Well done!
