The hotel was lovely and very well thought out rooms. the bathrooms are also lovely clean and new

On arrival we were ignored by the member of staff who was meant to be on reception at the time although he could see we were new to the building and area as we had travelled from Manchester for a wedding and had our bags. He walked past us several times while we wandered around looking to see where we were to check in. Not a great first impression. He has apparently worked there for several years so you would think he would be greeting people with a welcoming smile rather than blatantly ignoring our presence. I spoke to a very nice lady at reception about it as we were checking out. Having worked in hospitality myself I was a little shocked when she told me he had worked there for many years.

The hotel is ideally situated in Boston, it is only a few steps from the town centre. The room was comfortable, clean & secure with ample drinks making facilities, plus a couple of biscuits! Even the beds were made while we were out, that doesn't happen in many places these days. Good view of the river with it's great tidal range to be marvelled at. The breakfasts were great, a good choice & plenty of it to suit every taste. Set us up for the day! A band was playing on the Saturday night I don't get to see that often, a nice surprise especially away from the area I would expect to see them!

There was a little traffic noise mid evening but didn't go on too late, the kind of thing you get almost everywhere these days with the boy racers. There are a lot of stairs, could be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. One of our party is in his nineties & managed very well.

My boyfriend asked for a bucket of water to help him clean his car almost as soon as we had arrived. The staff took this slightly odd request in their stride and immediately provided plenty of water in a large bucket that really helped him sort the car out. All staff were so friendly, and the breakfasts were superb.

We were happy with our very large towels, and would quite happily have kept both for both nights, to save on laundry. One was trying to dry over the bath shower curtain pole, and got confiscated and replaced instead of left as we had intended. If we had wanted them changed, we would have put them in the bath as requested. .

Almost everything

It was very hot weather. The sun shone directly onto the outside wall and the window (Room 108) which only opened a very very small amount. Consequently the room got VERY hot in the day and took all night to cool. There really should be some way of improving the ventilation to this room and probably others nearby. I only discovered the desk fan tucked away in the wardrobe on my last evening -it did help a bit but all it does is to stir up air that is far too hot. I spent 4 years in Singapore in a a flat without Air Con and I never felt as uncomfortable there --it had a ceiling fan and opening windows (with Mosquito screens)

The White Hart Hotel surpassed all expectations. Attention to detail was outstanding, even down to a little hand written welcome message from the cleaning team. Upon entering the room, soft music could be heard playing from a radio and 2 little lights on - a nice welcoming touch. All staff, whether in the restaurants, bar or just in passing, were so friendly.

Obviously out of the Hotel's control, but Friday & Saturday nights were marred by the noise of 2 cars, plus motor bikes racing around the town into the early hours of the next mornings. Thankfully this wasn't the case on Sunday.

The hotel was central to all local amenities. I particularly liked receiving information on our stay before our arrival date. This included an on line fast check in. The rooms were clean and comfy. The hotel was dog friendly.There was a restaurant and bar on site. The food and wine was superb.Beautifully cooked and presented.A good selection of dishes and wines at a reasonable price. At the weekend there was entrainment. All the staff were very friendly and took time to talk to us and make a fuss of our dogs. Nothing was too much trouble for them.We will certainly be going back.

I couldn’t fault the hotel.

Room very comfortable lovely clean en-suite , listed building so no lift but , no big suitcase . Overlooked the river , bridge traffic noise we thought might be troublesome but , it was ok , quietened down at night . Sat nav took us to front of building , no parking , also work being carried out , nightmare it seemed to find the back of premises , thank you so much for one of the workmen !!!! Make sure the postcode is for the car park at the back !! Gilly the receptionist was lovely and helpful , and Leah in the breakfast room worked her socks off in the morning .

No evening light bites i.e sandwich etc .Food choice was great , but main meal was not required .

The room we had was beautifully presented with a super king size bed and lots of space . Staff were lovely and very helpful. The car park was close by and large. We never moved it until we left.

Small size of the shower in the large bathroom. The opening to the shower was by sliding back the doors on 2 sides of one corner of the shower tray cubicle- by the shower’plug’ hibingvlimited access meaning you had to go in sideways. There were no hand holds to help so use of the bath mat was essential for me. Only on window was openable in the bedroom which was ok for ventilation but meant the noise from the essential early morning cleaning of the courtyard furniture and surfaces below was clearly heard . The weather at the time of arrival was warm and the 10.5 tog rated duvet was far too warm. I should have raised this with staff but didn’t.

Staff were lovely, restaurant was nice, food was excellent (great choice on both main menu and breakfast menu) easy to get a parking space right next to the hotel in their car park. Lovely touch by the housekeeping team leaving a handwritten welcome note in the room. There was a function on in the function room in the same floor as us and we were a bit concerned we would be disturbed by the noise from it but didn’t need to be as we didn’t hear a thing.

Our room was at the back of the hotel so had to listen to the extractor fans from outside until they switched them off shortly after midnight. Could also hear the doors/gates being locked at the same time. The noise was quite loud & made it difficult to sleep until it stopped.

I stayed in the Pilgrim suite which was a lovely surprise, and added a touch of luxury to my stay. I was late for breakfast, but was still welcomed and offered a cooked breakfast. The information supplied via email about car parking was very useful-thank you! All the staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful, one helped me get a taxi to the wedding venue

I didn't like having to look for the reception staff, and when I arrived back at the hotel after the wedding I was outside for a while before anyone heard my knocks and let me in! But everyone was friendly and helpful.
