I received a very warm welcome on arrival. They kept me up to date with messages prior to my arrival, which filled me with confidence before I got there. The linen had a beautiful fragrance, clearly fresh. The room was immaculately clean and fresh towels, tea and coffee making facilities were provided. The location was quiet enough for a good nights sleep and the convenience of having the pub on site was great. The cooked to order breakfast was excellent and really couldn't be improved. If i was ever in the area again i would not hesitate to stay there again.

No WIFI in the rooms because the walls of the property are so thick. However, 4G signal is excellent, so no problem if you have DATA. This however is going to be corrected by future travelers as they are installing the Amazon eero device, which will guarantee free WIFI in the rooms

Quite a distance from the centre of town, but I was aware of this beforehand so not a problem for me. There is what appears to be an hourly bus service, and this worked out at £3.60 single. I wasn't able to get a VAT receipt as the business is not VAT registered, but again, I can work something with this for my expenses claim so shouldn't be a problem.

The Nags Head is a typical Welsh Valleys pub/restaurant with rooms above, so don't go with a chain hotel mentality. With a car, you're in easy reach of the main A465 and access to the Usk Valley towns where I was visiting. Fortunately, the Nags Head enabled a pensioner not only to avoid the swanky hostelries with fancy prices, but to enjoy the breath taking scenery 'over the top' as I travelled from Ebbw Vale to Crickhowell (around a twenty minute drive from the hotel) My room was perfectly adequate, spacious with twin beds and tea/coffee making facilities. The electric shower was piping hot, the room was clean and tidy and the formalities extended to a warm, welcoming smile as the young lady gave me my key. The price was a third to a half less than you would expect to pay in Crickhowell and surrounding areas and, with breakfast included, was a bargain. As the former chef and manager of a similar style hostelry in Llangynidr, I did warm to the young man who provided my cooked breakfast. What he lacked thus far in cooking skills, he made up for in his solicitous attention to my needs. It's the first time I've ever been asked if I minded if the yolk of my egg was broken or should he cook another! I said I didn't mind, but he cooked two new ones all the same. Don't expect luxury, just the basics and value for money with a smile.

I couldn't get the TV to function, but who wants to watch the news these days!

We loved our stay at The Nags Head! We felt very welcome from the moment we arrived - the team were incredibly friendly, as were the other patrons at the pub. We had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant and both were delicious. The room was really comfortable and the area was quiet. Highly recommended.

All the staff were friendly and nothing was ever too much trouble for them. The evening meal was excellent and the breakfast was more than enough to keep you going through the day.

A slight issue with parking, but this was due to building work that was taking place. But they did accommodate for my car, which was a nice touch on their part.

Extremely helpful staff. Locals were very friendly and willing to chat ; especially about rugby. Dinner was great and breakfast was exceptional. Would stay again. P.S. parking is simple , lots of space.

Big bath towel but no hand towel. Add a towel 0 holding ring to the side of the sink and hey presto, perfection.

It was very clean, with a comfortable nicely sized room. The food was delicious and very generous (dinner at the pub, and breakfast the following morning) and all the staff were so friendly and accommodating! Would recommend!!

Fantastic stay! Lovely pub, lovely people, lovely breakfast. Location perfect and parking was ideal. Even arrived for a brilliant quiz night on the Friday evening. Can’t wait to stay again.
