We found the Aid Na Said a perfect place to close our Scotland round trip with three days in Edinburgh. The place is very well situated to go explore the city center and the free parking spaces are super convenient for arriving by car but not planning to use it in Edinburgh. You do not want to travel into Edinburgh by car yourself it is just so crowded! The place is in 2 min walking distance from a Lothian Bus station carrying you directly into the city center. We arrived in the morning and were able to take over the rooms immediately. This was much earlier than we expected and we felt relieved since we knew our baggage was already safe. The house keeper was super friendly and showed us around. The place does not offer breakfast but dishes and cutlery are available if you want to prepare breakfast yourself. The addresses for near by "go out places" or "take away places" for breakfast are provided. As well some complimentary snacks are available and an automatic coffe machine is free to use. The rooms are spacious and nicely decorated. Our bathroom was spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable and the windows could be opened for fresh air in summer. A water kettle and tea and coffee are provided in the room. There is not 24h service in the guest house but this is not needed since everything is well prepared and easy to find. An emergency tel no. is available. We would rebook Ard Na Said for a next trip to Edinburgh!

We stayed in the Cochrane room which was not spectacular like the room in the main picture with the four poster bed, but still a nice spacious room. Beautiful shared sitting area in the home with a coffee machine, drinks and snacks plus some extra things put out each morning for breakfast which was a nice touch. Local restaurant The Salisbury Arms was a good spot for dinner within walking distance.

A few parking spots were available on site but we found these really tight to use and street parking is permit only at odd times so could be tricky. A little far out of town but as uber in/out was around 7 GBP or $13. It could have been a little cleaner but otherwise good.

Quiet location; easy & cheap public transport links; characterful and tasteful decor. Very helpful owners; a constant & plentiful supply of coffee, fruit, biscuit and other breakfast basics.

Could be improved by more storage space, daily cleaning, the TV in the room being tuned-in to live TV channels; provision of shower cap and a shelf in the shower for stowage of (the provided & nice) shampoo and toiletries etc,

Excellent host. Very helpful in telling us about the locality and what to see and do in the city. Explained where the local cafes, take way food places, bus routes and attractions were. Even offered to book us in at the local golf club for breakfast. Building is a beautiful well maintained town house and well worth a stay.

A cooked breakfast would be a great addition but we booked knowing that was not an option. The complimentary snacks and drinks were a welcome surprise.

Location was just outsite the centre of the city in a quite a nice environment You could easily go for a 30 minutes walk or catch one of the may buses heading for downtown There were facilities to make your own cappucino or grap some fruit, cake, drinks or mueslibars for small breakfast

The shower was a bit dissapointing. An electric device trying to spit warm water like a watercooker but hardly any pressure or control. It could be a pre-solution for sustainable warm water supply, but not a this stage.

Absolute gem ! Beautiful place to stay. Free parking- major bonus as we came from Wales. Room was lovely, bed was soo comfortable. Free breakfast snacks were great. The lounge space was peaceful and relaxing and a lovely bonus. Host was so helpful. Close enough to walk back from town in the evening. Cheap enough to get a taxi in to get the hop on hop off bus. Brilliant place to stay in Edinburgh. Would def stay there again.

We have stayed here before so speaks volumes. Reasonable price for Edinburgh. Comfy bed. Although a little further out plenty of buses. Host quick to respond to questions and very helpful.

We love a cooked breakfast but we were aware when booking this has stopped BUT so many places to eat in Edinburgh not an issue. They also left complimentary snacks which were very welcome and a nice edition.

Everything was nice!

Rankin: room was great, only minor thing was a “buzzing/vibrating sound” which we assumed was the boiler refilling the warm water. Only one person could take a shower with warm water. Next should wait at least 30mins and take another warm shower. We didn’t know and first night, the whole experience was annoying. Next night, we organized ourselves better, to manage to have a warm shower and sleep on time..

Impressive period building. Large room and bathroom both of which were very clean. Shower could be better as head was too small for the size of cubicle. Lounge downstairs had an impressive array of free items from hot drinks , all day snacks to beer and the obligatory Irn Bru.

Nothing to dislike except area is not the nicest in Edinburgh but ten minute drive to the city centre

Hosts were amazing!! Helped us at 11PM with a problem.. the breakfest was a nice touch, and it was heartwarming to recieve it packeged for us to enjoy on the flight back :) Rooms were huge and supplied with everything you will need.

A bit far from the city center, but a 15ish min bus ride would leave you at the heart of the old city!
