Breakfast is wonderful! My gluten allergy was considered and taken care of. The hotel is very near the entrance to Holyrood park! Don't miss it! It is about a 15-20 minute walk to "old Edinburgh". Make sure to take a different route each time so you can see other streets.

We booked a 3 day stay prior to coming to the hotel and paid a very reasonable daily price. We then went from Edinburgh to the Highlands for two weeks and thought it best to just book our last night prior to our flight home back at the Scott. The price for the one night was L150 more even booking it 2 weeks in advance in person.

Super comfy bed, spacious room, great floor-heated bathroom. The breakfast is also great, and there is a buffet to complete a delicious menu. During the day, two gorgeous rooms are available for free tea or coffee. A restaurant is at the nearby hotel "The Scholar" (1 min walk). You will be in the city by bus (nr 2, 14, 30, or 33) in 10min. The personnel is very nice and always helpful.

The room was a bit cold. No lift, and carrying our big luggage to the 2nd floor was not easy. But it was expected because we are in a beautiful old building. Ask for a room at the ground floor ;)

Stunning hotel old-time charm with all modern amenities . Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and the breakfast room was akin to a mini Versailles .The honesty bar was well stocked with snacks and variety of drinks. Only negative was lack of adequate parking at the hotel.

Parking could have been better more preference to ev cars and stations so others had to scout parking which was not always available. A bit noisy at time"s but we were aware the tattoo Bands were staying at the adjoining Hotel.

Accomodation decor through out was stunningly impressive, a great mix 18th century wood work, beautiful period cornices and painted ceilings, combined with the re upholstering of period furniture in modern fabrics with modern contemporary art on the walls. An unexpected joy and a fantastically luxurious place to relax. The well tended gardens and very quiet location, despite being within a student campus, again added to the relaxation.

My only issue was the lack of air conditioning, as a Scotsman myself I can't believe I'm saying that about accomodation in my country, but it was very warm at night.

Lovely room, bed was very comfortable plus we had black out curtains so we slept wonderfully. I’d even say it was the best night sleep I’ve had at a hotel! Staff were pleasant and helpful. No lift at this hotel so when we found out our room was a few floors up the staff happily switched us to a ground floor room when I mentioned my back issues. Breakfast was delicious and good value. Shower was great, water pressure good and water temperature could be adjusted to very hot if desired. Hand soap smelled very nice. Free chocolates and tea/coffee facilities in lounge area.

Unsure if knife on buffet table had been used for the meat and cheese at breakfast time - I’m vegetarian so this was a concern for me. No toilet brush in bathroom and extractor fan did not work but we didn’t mention these to the hotel as it wasn’t a big problem for us. Sure they would have fixed these issues had we brought them to their attention.

It had a real castle appeal and rooms looked slightly modern but well presented. In a gorgeous setting. Breakfast was amazing in that beautiful dining room. Very quiet.

Rooms were quite small and looked a bit different to photos. There was no bar and restaurant you had to go next door to the Scholar hotel. Scott had an honesty bar but it was closed when we were there. A bit out of the way, not much around except Arthur’s seat and Holyrood Park. Scholar restaurant was not a great meal. Very small portions and I didn’t have the 2 course menu. Fish was so tiny it was like an starter course size.

The bed was comfortable, the bathroom very clean. The breakfast was exceptional and all of the staff really lovely. Check-in and checkout were both really quick and easy, again, the staff made us feel right at home.

The room was on the highest floor which meant a walkup of three flights of stairs. No elevator of course. This also meant the ceiling was quite low which made the room feel even smaller. The radiator in the bathroom couldn't be turned off at all which made the room feel quite stuffy at night. Sleeping with the windows open meant we had quite a bit of street noise.

The room was a little smaller than expected but very elegant and cozy. The bathroom was bright and airy. The staff were incredible and very helpful and went above and beyond to be of assistance as we had an unexpected hiccup with our car rental. THANK YOU!!! They even made a congratulations platter and gave us prosecco and chocolate with a lovely handwritten postcard for my friend's graduation from the UOE!!! The warm welcome and recommendations for local eateries and activities was absolutely incredible! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I'll absolutely stay at the Scott again during a future visit to Scotland!

The location was good, as long as you could walk reasonable distances into the 'tourist' areas of Edinburgh, or get a taxi. Room pleasant, comfortable and clean. Tea and coffee making facility available. Breakfast about average to slightly better. Dinner was available in an adjacent building with modest range of options but priced fairly. We enjoyed what we had there.

Our room was up stairs and along corridors and up and down more stairs, to the furthest reach of the hotel. Not for the unfit. Reception was a bit basic: just a person behind a small table/desk (but very pleasant person) in a large room. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, admittedly 10 minutes before 3.00pm but we waited half an hour before we could access it.

The hotel is located in a gorgeous little castle just beneath Arthur's Seat. It's quiet and peaceful. The rooms have recently been refurbished in quirky and original style with a lot of attention to detail which I really liked. The beds are super comfortable with beautiful quality bedlinen. Breakfast is in a gorgeous dining room with painted ceiling. The staff serving breakfast are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is very well-prepared. We liked being able to help ourselves to complimentary teas and coffees. We enjoyed the grassy garden and the croquet set which we really appreciated. The staff are helpful and went out of their way to ensure we had a good stay.

Our room and bathroom were quite small and with a lot of luggage there was not much space. We would have appreciated more soaps and shampoos etc in the shower. Sometimes breakfast was very crowded and there were not enough tables available. We found our room quite hot and wished there could be air-conditioning, or at least a bladeless fan. There is a complimentary bar but the selection of drinks available is very limited. I think a fully-stocked and staffed bar would be a huge improvement and make a stay at this lovely hotel extra-special.
