Lovely hotel..whilst we booked a "small double' it was a good sized room with double bed and enough room for 2 armchairs in front of the TV. Nice bar area and delicious food (both dinner and breakfast) in the restaurant. Sadly the weather was awful during our one night stay but when the mizzle cleared in the morning there is a great view down onto Hawes in the valley below and I imagine it would be great to sit out on the front lawn with a cold drink on a sunny day ! We've already rebooked.

Only two small minor gripes : 1. Breakfast finishes early so not much scope for a nice lie-in. Latest available was 9.15am for us and overheard a later conversation at reception where someone was offered 8.45am as latest available slot. 2. No milk/creamer in the room so had to have black coffee on waking up.

Can't remember the last time we had such great 'table service', and got exactly what we asked for, and the food was superb, served with a smile and enough chat to be friendly and not intrusive. The views were amazing and soothing, plenty of sheep, which we are used to, but not used to seeing rabbits under my window being busy in an out of the bushes.

If it were my place, I would ditch the small mat in front of the fire unless a fire was going and definitely have the edges overlocked, but that's my personal preference.

Warm, welcoming staff in a beautifully preserved building with all modern facilities. Very comfortable with lovely views of north Yorkshire. The cooked breakfast was delicious and the lamb we had for dinner was one of the best on the trip. The staff went out of their way to make us our favourite drink and were very friendly. You probably need a car to get around and we found some beautiful walks to access near the falls.

Very much an old English country home feel but with updated modern amenities such as free Wi-Fi, wide screen televisions and a newly updated bathroom. Our room was right next to a pasture and we woke to the sight and sounds of a herd of sheep. Friendly staff that even prepared a personalized list of sites to see in Wensleydale. Would definitely stay here again!

It was an extremely pretty spot and lovely room with big en-suite. birds in the trees with amazing views. loved it. staff were v friendly and chatty.

windows wooden which matched house but didn’t shut properly. Security door did not shut itself and so was left open although did not feel particularly unsafe. room did not have views due to trees as promised on booking althou on stepping out the views were phenomenal. staff missed finer details, such as we were taken throu to eating area and brought bread - lovely but the main courses were brought out before we had finished. silly little things but what we are used to in this type of hotel.

Limited food choice at breakfast and in the evening. Everything is a bit rich and heavy. No simple food choices so we went out for half the stay

Warm welcome and speedy checkin . All staff were very helpful and cheerful . Room very quiet , clean and comfortable with great views . Enjoyable dinner with great service . Wonderful breakfast . we loved being served rather than the help yourself option at other hotels .

Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Second time staying here and it didn’t disappoint. Loved the changes that the new owners have made to the hotel. Staff all welcoming and cheerful. Food consistently good.

Wonderful hotel, brilliant location and first class restaurant . Exceptional cleanliness. The staff were superb, nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely return.

The hotel's location was perfect. The welcome we received was just right. Dinner and breakfast could not be faulted.

Our room was compact though it had all necessary facilities and a very good bathroom. That said, we paid for the least expensive of rooms available so we can't really complain.
