lovely village inn, staff very friendly and helpful. breakfast excellent (happy to oblige with an early breakfast so we could set off early on long days hike. location was lovely village with another pub available for evening meal as they werent doing evening meals. They communicate all about possible place to eat before and advised on booking place to eat as limited eating in the village. Pub inn was quaint and dated in a nice way.

Looked a little dated (which may put some travellers off) we found it looked quaint.

The location was perfect for us. Right in the middle of the village, the Sun Inn is a quaint and lovely place to stay. JOFF greeted us with a smile and even helped with our luggage. We drank in their bar which served a selection of different ales before retiring to our rooms for the night. The twisted structural nature of the Sun Inn adds to its attraction but one must have their wits about them when walking in the darkness of your room. JOFF'S huge generous breakfast was well presented and a real treat for us three hungry gents. Just what we needed for the day ahead. PAT served us breakfast and any requests for more coffee, tea or toast was quickly served.

The shower head was all loose and couldn't be locked off. Had to use the rain head of the shower instead. Not a big deal, but should be addressed.

I stated here with a group of friends whilst we took on the Three peaks challenge. This was a fantastic place for us to stay. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. They even provided us with a packed lunch for the challenge as we were leaving much earlier than breakfast could be prepared. The next day though we got a lovely cooked breakfast and plenty of cereal and toast so top marks for that. Two of our party are Vegi's and they were well looked after. We were split between two rooms which was ideal for us as we each got a bed and shared a bathroom. The rooms were nice and clean. The pub itself seemed very popular and the bar had a good amount of customers each night. We loved that we could pop downstairs for a pint and then head off to bed after the challenge. Dent itself is small but it has around four electric car charging points right next to the pub which was ideal and the George and Dragon which is 30 secs walk away does a lively dinner. This gets super busy so book up if you want a dinner there. We were very happy with Dent and started our walk from ribblehead viaduct which was only 20ish mins drive away. For a group of five lads doing this challenge this was an ideal place to stay. Thank you 👍

Hard to pick any negatives but the only thing i might highlight is that the bar will get busy so keep in mind that if you're a light sleeper you might struggle to fall asleep if you want a super early night. That being said none of use struggled to fall to sleep so it just depends on your preference. Most of the pubs are old buildings and are fairly small so you'll get the same wherever.

Location - magnificent! And the room had the view to die for. Large first-floor room, comfortable firm mattress, lovely linen. Not ensuite (which I knew when booking), but there was a good-sized wash basin in the room, and the other stuff was just across the landing. No problem parking, no problem with stairs. Breakfast very good, and plentiful, staff friendly and helpful.

The shower was a nightmare, with hot and cold water coming unpredictably from the two shower-heads. It was not clear how to adjust either the temperature or flow, or which bit of the shower was on or off. And, as an old bloke, I didn't like the big step down, with no handrail.

A wonderful old-English country Inn. Terrific location. Friendly and helpful staff, great full-English breakfast - other options readily available. Good-sized car park at the rear. Staff very willing to accommodate reasonable requests: a key to the pub in case return to the room was needed when pub is shut. I particularly appreciated the forewarning that there was no evening food available and a reminder that the separate toilet and shower room are shared with other guests.

Like all properties of a similar vintage, the Sun Inn suffers from old-age. The decor is tired, floorboards creak, walls and floors are thin enough to hear the customers in the bar downstairs and muffled conversations within adjoining rooms. But if you wanted to pay a lot more you could always choose another venue. Having said that, overall it was a truly enjoyable and memorable experience

The location was great, the building very old which is to our taste. It was a good all round stay. Breakfast was good and very filling, staff friendly, nice view from room of the church. Our room had minimal noise from the bar downstairs. We had the room with its own shower room.

Nothing that we really disliked, yes it’s a bit tired, could do with updating but then that will make the price go up!

I am biased - this my favourite pub set in the centre of my favourite village. It is a glorious area. Carlisle-Settle railway nearby and there is wild swimming about 1.5 miles away. Easy to find and excellent parking around the back. Very warm welcome. Very traditional old pub on a cobbled street with a wonderful facade. Spacious room with comfortable bed. All very clean. I shall return again and again.

Stayed in September 2023 as part of a Dales Way walk. The rooms are not totally modern but the price reflects this which was reasonable, the choice of beer was good. Excellent breakfast. Good location.

It's sad but no evening meals were offered, we were told about this before our arrival so we were able to eat elsewhere, the premises are struggling to recruit staff. I hope with the current state of the economy this may change in the future and the pub can again offer food.

The Sun Inn is an ancient hostelry in the centre of Dent, which is a stunning location. Great pub, very good guest beers, dog friendly, helpful staff. It's an old pub so only one of the bedrooms (I think) was en suite, but that's what you go for. Huge breakfast prepared to order with numerous variations to the menu in our party catered for. Our bikes were locked away in the garage overnight which was helpful.

Nothing really. Some people found the church bells a bit annoying but I slept through...

Joff the landlord was absolutely brilliant, couldn't do enough for you. The other pub which were to eat after walking all day was unfortunately closed due to unforeseen circumstances. Joff said he would cook us a meal from his freezer which was a lifesaver, although the pub doesn't do food (only breakfast). The morning breakfast was excellent and we will definitely be going back to stay at the Sun again. Thanks.

Nothing all was good.
