The bed was comfortable, the decor pleasant. The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly. The restaurant area is as lovely as it looks in the photos, We enjoyed sitting on the comfy sofas under the trees having a drink after a day out sightseeing. Breakfast was delicious and a good choice of dishes available, and we enjoyed food from the restaurant a couple of times during our stay.

We visited in April and found the room was too warm, as the heating kept coming on and you were unable to turn the heating off as radiators boxed in. Our room also didn’t have air conditioning which was disappointing and the Dyson fan provided was ineffective at cooling the room. Our room was also located above the downstairs bar main door which didn’t have a soft closure so every time someone went in and out of the door it banged! As a popular venue it banged a lot.

An excellent first visit. Very friendly staff, a lovely small room. We booked the small and it was exactly as we had expected and just what we wanted. It was spotlessly clean, easy to get to and the AC was an added bonus on a very hot July evening. Breakfast was really good and didn't take long to come from ordering. The location is really nice. We had a very enjoyable walk around Harleston, there are several shops and other pubs as well as a Co-op. The staff work really hard here, they are always busy doing something and we noticed in the morning, one staff member was even sifting through the gravel outside to remove any small piceces of litter or cigarettes. The attention to detail is very impressive here. I have got a lot of appreciation for the hard working staff as they really make the experience what it is and they deserve some recognition for their hard work and positive atitudes. I would not hesitate in coming back if I am in the area again. Thanks for a really nice time.

Nothing, it was a really enjoyable visit.

The staff are an absolute asset, they were polite , friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone met us with a smile. The room was very clean , beautifully decorated and the added touch of biscuits was most welcome.

We were in room 5, and when the blinds were up, there was no privacy from buildings opposite or the main street. My suggestion would be to simply frost the lower part of the windows.

The staff were all fantastic and couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The rooms were all comfortable and well equipped. We all slept well, and the small amount of noise from the bar didn't bother us. The breakfast choice was good and if we wanted anything extra or more of something it was no problem. The girls were also very attentive and cheerful. There was plenty of choice on the restaurant menu in the evening and the portions were very generous. There was a very relaxing and friendly atmosphere throughout the hotel and we felt at ease there. Checking in and out very efficient and the staff very ameable.. Overall, a great experience and I'm sure we'll come again for a meal when we are back in the area.

We stayed 2 nights and apart from the bedrooms, there wasn't a quiet sitting area downstairs where the family could gather in the afternoon. However, this was only a small inconvience.

We visit friends who live in the town every year, they are within walking distance of the hotel. Parking is limited near the hotel, but there is a public car park well within walking distance, We had breakfast at the hotel for our two night stay, There was a slight variation in content, the first morning being the better of the two. Next time(October) we will try the restaurant. Everywhere in the town is walkable from the hotel. The staff were really helpful, friendly including the morning cleaners!

There is always something, and having stayed in quite a few hotels we have found them! JD's have succeeded in hiding them if they did exist?

Was a lovely clean convenient and a very good restaurant staff and presentation of food very good

I had an nasty incident with the shower door It sealed and was unable to get out without great force hence a very bruised foot which upset the rest of my holiday! Staff said it had happened before ok if there is 2 of you but the possibility of being confined for 16 hours in a small shower alone quite destressing!! Hopefully this has been dealt with as it could have had serios consequences

Nice refurbished rooms Restaurant and food were amazing for evening dinner Check in was easy Staff were really friendly

Parking is poor and that’s not clear from the property description Cleaning in the bedroom could be better…as in dado rail in the bathroom was really dusty as were the skirting boards Kettle was covered in limescale, I would say room 2 needs either a thorough clean or needs replacing. Breakfast was more than slow..even though there was only the 4 of us and 1 other person, after 40 mins of waiting, I had to chase it up ( we had an appt to get to at 9:15 so needed to leave at 9am) The staff said there was only 1 chef, but they were only cooking 4 breakfasts! Flies!! During evening dinner and breakfast and there was quite a few…not keen when you’re eating. That needs sorting out too.

Location is super, such a lovely town with beautiful independent shops and well worth a visit. JDs is a personal favourite, either for a drink or meal if we're in the area, we always pop in. We've also stayed several times, and we're never disappointed. The personnel are helpful and friendly at all times and add to the general buzz of the venue. Parking can be limited, but you can always find a space on the High Street.

Nothing - they always deliver!

Friendly staff, lovely room and a nice ambience in the hotel, exceptional detail of cleaning, especially of high level cleaning which was obvious throughout the hotel.

Not much choice on the menu for vegetarians/vegans, only one vegan choice which was a burger, desert menu had similar issue, we found most restaurants in Norfolk/Suffolk offered the same burger option, if JDYoung looked at their menu to offer more options that could be a USP for them. Food was of a high standard though and good proportion. The only real downside is the road noise, being on a busy road through the village this is unavoidable although ear plugs were supplied in the room.

Friendly and welcoming staff, charming rooms with period features, nice restaurant and bar on ground floor, really excellent breakfast the next morning. Parking was free, but limited outside the hotel, with more free parking about a 2 minute walk away from the hotel. Before I forget, the room also had Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate, biscuits and 2 bottles of spring water, (which was a really nice touch). We would definitely stay there again.

There was an odour that came from the shower drain in the bathroom, (we were only there for 1 night), thus not long enough to fix the problem. There is a church bell that chimes on the hour and that can disturb light sleepers, otherwise very quiet.
