Where do we start?! I dont think ive ever stayed anywhere so welcoming. The greeting was second to none, Alison came out with a map of ilfracombe and suggested all the best spots and dog friendly areas/restaurants. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was immaculate and we had a balcony overlooking the town and partial sea view (room 6). Breakfast was incredible all fresh and locally sourced. The lady whom serves the breakfast was so lovely, they even provided a bowl of sausages for the dogs breakfast! The location is perfect, directly onto the coastal path across the cliffs. Easy walk into town and the views are stunning. We highly recommend and will be returning next year.

Breakfast was exceptional! Fresh fruit cups and a generous, perfectly cooked full English breakfast. Alison is a wonderful, warm and welcoming host. Rooms are spotless and the balcony rooms have great views over the town. Easy walking distance to the town and the seafront. Second time we have stayed here and we wouldn’t consider booking anywhere else on our trips to Ilfracombe!

It’s a lovely place very close to the coastal footpath so lots of great walks and stunning scenery. Super welcoming owner and as I was making a first visit to Ilfracombe she went out of her way to provide information . Really nice touches that few places manage like really high quality bedding (better than home!) extra clean and very full breakfast. Parking is easy. (That’s really unusual in small coastal locations) The seaside town of Ilfracombe is really sweet great local shops and cafes. What more could you want!!

Warm welcome from Alison, all staff were very helpful, superb breakfast, hot, quality full English, other options available too. Stayed with my dog, Heather made a great fuss of him, they even treated him to breakfast! The location was nice & quiet, no through road, moments away from coastal walk & lovely view over Ilfracombe, we had room with balcony which was delightful. The honesty bar was a lovely addition, like a little snug, outside seating in quaint garden, parking as well...faultless. Alison runs a very professional B&B, all you need in your room is there & spotlessly clean. Our much needed rest was fulfilled perfectly, 100% recommend.

The location was fab, a short walk from the main town and local amenities. Lidl was just down the road too. There is also a lovely walk in the other direction. Breakfast was fab, couldn't fault it. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Very knowledgeable. Parking was good Room was fab too!

The only thing for me was I don't think the bed sheets were changed whilst we were there. This wasn't an issue for us but some may think differently. Also towels were not changed.

Our welcome on arrival was outstanding, a detailed map of the area well explained,along with all the dog friendly locations in the area,the room and the Avon Court lodge was outstandingly clean , great breakfast with lots of choices, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional ,nice coastal walks right behind the lodge , definitely the best place in Ilfracombe to stay if you're taking your dog, thank you Alison & all the staff for a great stay , Gary Shirley & Coco 👍👌

We were greeted by a very friendly lady and made us feel right at home instantly. Nothing was too much trouble for the two ladies. Breakfast was excellent. We would go back in a heartbeat. The location was perfect and shops and pubs are within easy walking distance. Free parking is always a bonus. It is a very quiet location. The sea is just a stones throw away.

Honestly there was nothing to dislike except for noisy seagulls which one gets used to very quickly.

I stayed at Avoncourt Lodge for 9 days for leisure. The room was clean and comfortable with a good ensuite bathroom. The towels were changed every day and they placed more refreshments in the room such as tea and coffee which was pretty good. The staff were friendly, and the cooked breakfast was very good. Overall, I would recommend this guesthouse greatly to other travellers.

Some may find it a disadvantage that the guesthouse is located on a hill where you have to go up a steep gradient to get to it from the main road. This wasn't an inconvenience for me but would be for people with mobility issues.

I was made very welcome after a long journey. My room had a balcony with outside seating and a spectacular view over the town. There were good facilities with a lounge and an honesty bar and the breakfasts were really good. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. I was shown the way to walk down to the town and harbour, which wasn't far. Alison was an excellent hostess.

Although the bathroom was spotless and well stocked, it was small and the access to the shower could have been difficult for a bigger person.

Breakfast was Epic. Cooked breakfast was cooked to perfection, the honey was divine and local, the fruit was so fresh and delicious. And bonus: a sausage for the dog too! Very comfortable bed- we both slept really well. Glad it was ensuite, loved the little balcony for some morning tea. Very friendly staff, and knowledgeable of the local area. Wonderful area with superb walks too!

I wish we could have stayed longer- our work schedules made this impossible.
