This is a real gem of a place - when booking such a good rate so close to central I wasn't sure if what I was getting into would be exactly as told on here and, it is. This place is a real gem and Camberwell has a plethora of amazing places to eat - I recommend the falafel place literally next door, and Moloko across the road. Church Street is lovely, quirky, clean, breakfast is great and the DVD selection is top-notch. I was sending pictures to my friends and family and will definitely be coming back :).

Not really a complaint because it *is* mentioned on the checkout but just a reminder, you do need a £50 book in fee on the day that is completely refunded when you check out (unless you use the honesty bar)- just a damage deposit. Also, I have physical disabilities and the stairs are quite steep but there's banisters the whole way and the staff were very helpful in helping me get to my room :).

A fabulous little hotel; really fun decor with nice quirky touches like leaving Tunnock's Tea Cakes in the rooms and a DVD library in the restaurant (the rooms also have DVD players if you find something you'd like to watch). Breakfast is good and there is an Honesty Bar where you can get drinks and snacks 24 hours a day. Location also really good; Camberwell is a trendy part of London with great places to eat right on the doorstep of the hotel.

Not a major issue with the hotel itself but just be aware the hotel isn't particularly near any Underground stations so you need to catch buses to get into the city. Buses go frequently and run through the night but leave plenty of time to get anywhere if travelling at peak times as London traffic can be heavy.

the decoration in the room was rather quirky and interesting - Mexican-style decor and the walls had illuminated cubby holes filled with ornaments. The bed was OK in itself - it wasn't a memory foam-style mattress, but comfortable nonetheless. The room I had was facing the main road, and initially I found it rather noisy, but after closing the internal secondary double glazing, it was quiet enough. Good location to stay if you have an early morning hospital appointment, and there are plenty of diverse restaurants within a 5 minutes walk. I would certainly use again if I need to stay in the area.

Car parking is very limited. It is possible to park in the street over the weekend, but a pass is needed if you want to park during the week. However, there is an option to park at a local church (5-10 minutes walk away) for a fee. Plus, there was no coffee available when I had breakfast (there were no coffee beans for the machine!)

A really great find. Lovely quirky decoration Moroccan style, spotlessly clean and immaculately tidy. Friendly and welcoming staff. Great little thoughtful extras, quality coffee available, and lovely communal areas. Decorated and accessorised with real character. I had a single room with a shared bathroom, but it was just a step away from my room and not a problem. Peaceful room at the back of the property, plenty of towels etc. I really liked it. Great choice of restaurants and eateries within 100 metres of property. Perfect location for a trip to Burgess parkrun. Easy walk from Denmark Hill tube station and felt very safe to me. Bedding was high quality. Two comfy pillows.

the actual mattress had seen better days. It was 'ok' and the rest of the room and facilities made up for it, but that wasn't to the same standard as everything else

Loved the decor. Loved the simple late night check in system Loved the cleanliness Quite liked the breakfast room being available for making complimentary hot drinks all day.

The lighting level in the ensuite was poor. Missed not having drinks making facilities in the room in the morning. Didn’t like the noise from the adjacent car park that started between 5 & 6. (It was hot when we stayed so we did have the window open.) Didn’t like that breakfast was included if you booked direct but not if you used booking.com. Also suspected that the best rooms were saved for direct bookings - our second room was 3 floors above the ensuite room even though it was booked at the same time. Didn’t like the worn out sofa in the breakfast room - gave a bad visual and not suitable for sitting on.

Room was very nice designed as we expected. Location is good, bus station is near hotel, shops, eating places. We suggest to put information in Booking about bus stations because here are just information about trains and tube but hotel is very good acceptable by bus.

Breakfast is good for those who love pastries and it is ok, coffee is good but somebody ate all eggs and nobody bringed new. If you have noisy neighbors you will hear their steps above you. Street noises are coming inside. But still it is very good place where to stay.

Very clean, nice room, mexican themed architecturally. Confy bed, clean and well supplied bathroom. Great common area for cifee/ breakfast. Honesty system at work. The staff is polire and helpful. I was surprised to see the Booking rating as the quality is much higher than that rating. Hope it gets straightened out in the future. Great value for money.

At the entrance, the doorbell was broken and had to call the number on the door to get it open. The initial impression from the reception area is that it's an old house, but going up to the room contradicts that impression. It's nice and clean, smells good. If you keep windows open, you can be bothered by loud traffic.

The hotel is small but offers something a bit out of the ordinary, with furniture, tiled bathrooms and pictures that suggest a Portuguese or Mexican influence. My single room was small and quiet, and the bed comfortable. The room had its own wash basin. The shared bathroom was small, colourful and clean. The common room and breakfast room has a self-service bar and the means to make complimentary teas and coffee. If you are into good, speciality coffee, this is the place; you can grind and filter brew the Monmouth coffee that they provide. The continental breakfast was outstanding, good enough to make me want to return when next in London. Camberwell Green is not the easiest place to get to by public transport and very busy but it's a great place to find Middle Eastern food.

The shared bathroom can get a bit busy in the morning.but that is a minor inconvenience.

I have lived in Camberwell before so I know the location well including parking closer to the hospital. I enjoy the walk from the hotel to where I parked my car. The breakfast is so good, I enjoyed every bit of it

I had to move into another room because the door lock was stuck, I couldn’t shut my door. I was then giving another room in the morning but the room was cold, the heater wasn’t working. It was just warm and not heating the whole room and as such I was very cold. The bed was squeaky, every time I sit on the bed. When intend to turn to the other side while sleeping, it’s a noisy bed

Interesting location, many restaurants locally at modest prices and good variety. good buses to many parts of London. Friendly and helpful reception. Clean rooms, a little short of space but with excellent en suite shower etc. Warm and comfortable bed. Would happily stay there again. Continental Breakfast to suit most tastes. Not luxury but good value for modest accommodation. Remarkably quiet in the rooms, considering how lively and bustling street life is outside. I felt very safe. Recommended.
