Good location - next to the train station, supermarkets; shops, and eating places. There are also buses to get one to sightseeing and other places of interest. Located in a quiet area Another extra extra bonus is free lovely dinners and breakfast. Rare to find a hostel that goes an extra mile by not only offering free awesome dinners and breakfast but also allows residents to prepare their own meals. Nice and well equipped kitchen with big eating spaces extending to the garden. Free teas and coffees are offered 24/7. Members of staff are amazing, very friendly, welcoming, and ever so helpful. Well done.

Maybe consider lifts to help residents who have difficult climbing the stairs.

The location is perfect. It is very close to Earl’s Court underground station from which you can go wherever you want in London. Also, the staff are very friendly and helpful. They provide you with free breakfast

The beds are not comfortable. There is no air conditioner in the room so keep it in your mind if you are not okay with stuffy room. What is more, they charge you 10 pounds extra as a deposit during your check-in. This is unnecesary as they say they give you a refund when you check out and they really do it but I still couldn’t get my money back from the bank.

The staff is very responsive. The place is wonderful. Breakfast is quite filling and served well. The kitchen is spacious and comfortable with everything you need. Toilets and showers for public use are clean!

The Internet in the room did not connect, although we told the staff several times. They said they would call a technician. Perhaps this is a temporary problem. The beds squeak a lot. If someone spins at night, others sleep is so noisy. The mattresses in the beds are crumbling because they are old. We should change it if possible.

The location is very good. It's located in the central of London and very near the earl's court station. The hotel provided free breakfast and dinner with your registering. The sfaff are very nice and helpful.

the bathroom for only female is downstairs and not provided with heat system so I felt very cold.

During our stay, breakfast was so delicious. Fernando’s egg omelettes and Ryan’s pancakes were so tasty! Thank you guys! All the people working there were very friendly, helpful and funny. The evenings were especially nice because we played games or table tennis. By the way the outdoor area is just super. All in all a fine place where you can hang up with people from all over the world.

Location was very good for access to in and around London. I visited family in South London, transport links were good. I also visited a local oratory which was great! Staff were friendly and helpful.

Bed linen was dirty, I had to change the linen. Also, there was a £5 charge to use a clean towel.

Beautiful place, and close to all amenities, with wonderful large outside courtyard with exquisite table and many cosy armchairs with facilities for exercise to to just enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Another exquisite table in the dining room, fabulous couches in lounge and huge TV to watch whatever one wanted. Great to have a ladies only set of bathrooms. Free breakfast, and supper (if you book on time), place for personal food storage in both cupboards and fridge in the kitchen.

I would have liked to have curtains around each bed. But it is what it is, and by no way diminshes the overall experience, I just LOVED St. James Backpackers in the centre of everything.

People were really nice, a good team. The decoration was also fun and pleasant. We can use the kitchen to make our own meal etc. In general, it's a good place to meet new people, if you come alone, or to have a good time with friends. While reading some comments, i see that some people may be really harsh and demanding. As an hostel, it has obviously a different goal and not the same commodity, privacy and the calm of an hotel, so i don't think we should be that demanding, especially for that price. Of course there are things to improve, but at the end there will always be problems that are unique to this type of accommodation and not just to that place particularly. If you are conscient of that, and you are not afraid of the extra precautions you may have to take as mostly of the hostels (take care of things of value, take flip-flops and your own savon for the shower, not expect to be in total calm ... etc), for the cost and localization, it's a really good place to be for a short period. Especially for people that wants to meet others, travelers, groups, young people etc.

Just the toilets property sometimes. I am understand that with a shared bathroom with that much people, it can't be always clean. But i think it can be a little better like cleaned more often or making available some wipes or odor control products available to us. I would advise for example giving/adding carpets, to avoid getting the ground so wet for example. Also putting another shower, would be an improvement. Because it seems to me that these go in the direction of the shower door, not helping to keep the floor dry. And is not super comfortable. Here are just a few advices, from my experience that i believe can make the experience of others better :)

Nice dining room table and seating area. Nice outdoor dining area. Breakfast and dinner were provided - that was really worth the money I paid. Central location near the Underground station. Well maintained toilets. Friendly staff and cooks.

Noisy outdoor area, which the room was facing late at night. I suggest enforcing curfew after 11pm. Shower compartments are too tight even for a skinny person like me. The fixed shower head was facing directly the glass door, which inevitably sprayed water on the user and the floor when entering the compartment. Lack of privacy at the bed. Lack of towel rail or clothes hanging area for drying. Missing common hair dryers.
