Fantastic, friendly Landlady, bar and cleaning staff. Best customer service out of everywhere I've stayed. It's in the centre of Monmouth so perfect for tourists, and my room (no.3) has a great view of the town square (pictured) The pub downstairs is not raucous and is very comfortable. There's a bus stop right next to it, so it's a great launchpad for exploring the rest of the area.
My only complaint was noise from outside, but this is entirely to be expected from a town centre location.

It starts off at the door lovely friendly reception , the staff are excellent, the rooms are clean modern & comfy. The hotel is in the middle of town. We had an evening meal which was very good (they even split a meal as my wife wasn't that hungry). A great bonus for us was the live band in the evening which was very good (the place was bussing ) The band though didn't go on too late so was rapped up around 11pm. They don't do breakfast however Weatherspoons is right opposite ! I'd recommend this hotel without hesitation !
Nothing everything was spot on

We have stayed in Monmouth a few times, and honestly all the hotels have been really lovely, but this one was the best! In terms of value for money, the room as a fantastic size, friendly staff, fantastic, location, and really comfortable bed. I have read in some of the other reviews about noise pollution, and perhaps we got lucky and being cityfolk, a bit of noise doesn’t bother us, but honestly, the only noise we heard was the occasional person leaving the pub, and a bit of noise from the old pipes. but we absolutely loved I’ll stay and we will be back.

The location was great close to the town square and the building was in very good decorative order having been recently refurbished. The bedroom was large, well appointed and airy with a lovely four poster bed. Although over a pub (which was also very good), it didn't stay open too late so a good night sleep was had. The two lady managers were extremely warm, friendly and helpful and simply exceptional as hosts. We will be visiting again and would have no qualms in recommending it to others.
It would have been nice to have breakfast at the hotel as it was really nice but understand that this will be introduced in due course. This is not a problem as there are a number of nice cafes, restaurants located close by. So not something that we didn't like as such - but more something that we would have like to have experienced.

I liked everything! But especially the staff, they were super friendly, asking me about my plans or what I had been up to, and very helpful. Clean room, comfortable, sufficient room to pack away my things. Great location to explore Monmouth and the surrounding Wye valley by foot, car or public transport.
Well, maybe not everything... I still stand by my "10. Exceptional" rating, but you should be aware that the bedrooms are above the pub in a fairly busy area. So on Friday and Saturday nights you are likely to experience outside noise in the evenings. I slept right through it, so I couldn't tell you till what time, and obviously it didn't bother me too much...

The landlady (Vic) was super-welcoming and friendly. We were travelling on motorbikes, and as there was no secure parking, we were invited to store our bikes overnight in the seating area at the front of the pub, which was helpful. The pub don't usually provide breakfast, but on this occasion, the landlady very kindly made us some bacon, sausage & egg sandwiches which were fantastic! I can't recommend this place highly enough!!
This is a central Monmouth location, which means it is worth being aware of the possibility of noise at night, if you're bothered by this (which we weren't).

great central location and characterful. friendly staff.
Due in part to the central location it was rather noisy. The in-room drinks facilities were very limited - just tea and biscuits and no coffee or hot choc. There was a Halloween party in the pub downstairs which did get quite noisy and being an old building, noise travelled straight through the walls and floors so we were unable to sleep until the Inn closed.

The location was excellent and the staff were friendly and very attentive. The bar and restaurant areas were very sociable, comfortable and bright and airy.
The room I had was a small double - it was fine for one person for a couple of nights but may have been a little claustrophobic for 2 people for a longer stay. The other half of my party had a much larger room but I paid the same price.

It all went well and the little dog was received in a most friendly manner, even offering us a dog bed if we didn't have our own.
The Punch House is right in the middle of a vibrant and working town and some noise must be expected in these circumstances but I wasn't prepared for a supermarket lorry to unload it's cargo at 4.30am; next time I'll request a room on the other side of the building.

Lovely venue and beautiful spaces - will hope we can sit in the open area in the morning if ever we stay again. Wonderful manager and staff are very polite.
Breakfast was not available like booking.com specified at the time??? Disappointed is an understatement as we had an incredibly poor breakfast elsewhere before we needed to be back and vacate our room. Manager agrees this should have been clear to us before booking ahead of our stay.
