The location was great (perfect for my 3 day activity at the nearby Oldfield Forge), the staff were extremely welcoming, the room was very comfortable and the pub was pleasantly busy in the evenings and the food was really good - the staff even going as far as personally delivering lunch to the forge each day.
The only unfortunate issue was the fact that, due to it being an old building without modern soundproofing, the noise from the bar does come straight through the floor to the bedroom, so on a Friday night there's no chance of an early night (or even before midnight). Best option is to enjoy it by staying down in the bar instead!

The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were excellent. Breakfast was fantastic. Perfect for people coming from afar to visit Oldfield Forge, with whom the Inn has an arrangement for lunches - I recommend the chicken and bacon ciabatta!
There were Rugby matches on in the main bar on Saturday night - while I don't object to this at all (far from it!) the Stars room is directly below the bar, and it was noisy until 11pm. A warning from the staff would have allowed us to plan a more comfortable evening. Not an actual complaint, just a warning to other travelers!

The room was great, very clean, bed was very comfortable. Tea and coffee supplies and a little pint of milk in the fridge for us. Towels were lovely and soft. Food was amazing! Breakfast each morning was so yum and I would definitely booking for dinner there, very good! Owners were great and very accommodating.
It is disclosed in the advert that the The Stars room is above the bar area, which means it is a bit loud in the room in the evenings but quietens down quickly at bar closure at 11pm.

Its at v quiet place typical British countryside and a traditional way of check in by siging in the register and got physical keys.We went to attend friend's wedding so our stay was for only for few hours. In the morning Danny and Shabbu served us a delicious breakfast. They were v welcoming and hospitable.
No vodaphone signals and no wifi (only area is dining where you get wifi but no network) and google maps are lost on the road leading to this B&B. Make sure you have Sat Nav as an alternate. If there is a curtain on the window to prevent light from coming in the bedroom it would be good as we woke up early morning as lot of light was coming in.

Ash and Andreza have done a wonderful job here and our personal experience bore this out. After a long day, we arrived knowing that they don't do food on a Wednesday night. After asking Danny where we could go nearby to eat he offered to make us something simple like burgers or fish and chips. Then followed one of the best fish and chip suppers we've ever had! The pub is welcoming for visitors but with a good local trade too and close to visit Skenfrith Castle. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the customer service excellent. Breakfast was very good too. I'd recommend to anyone and will certainly stay again if in the area.

Pretty much everything else about our stay here was fantastic! The staff were super friendly and went above and beyond to accommodate us. We had an experience day booked at the local forge and they offer a service where they can bring lunch up to you however they ask for three days notice of your food orders. We completely forgot to do this and emailed them the day before on the off chance they might be able to help us out and they did! They also cooked dinner for us on Sunday even though they usually close their kitchen Sunday evening! We weren't expecting this at all and had come to terms with the fact that we'd most likely be taking ourselves off to the most local town and having to get a McDonald's (more fool us for not arranging somewhere beforehand; especially on Mother's Day!). So we were pleasantly surprised when they offered to cook for us. We really can't thank them enough! The rooms were lovely and clean and were stocked with tea, coffee, milk and a handful of bathroom bits for us to use. They were a fairly decent size too - more than enough for two people who were out most of the time We ate dinner there for the 3 nights we stayed and the food was superb! Huge portion sizes, absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. The room also included breakfast every morning and that was lovely as well and decently sized too - they provided us with tea, coffee, cereal, yoghurts, jams, marmalade and butter for toast and they cooked a fry up. It was also great value for money. It cost us less to have a 3 night stay here than it would at any large hotel chain.
We had some issues with our shower - it was a bit temperamental to get the temperature we liked and on one of the days we couldn't get more than a tepid temperature from it (however we do believe they had a leak somewhere during the day so this could have contributed to that as the water seemed better later on in the evening) and we had some issues with the lock on our door. It took a handful of attempts to get it locked properly (this was only on one side of the door - the other side locked immediately)

Excellent food from the inn kitchen Room (Globe room) was big with lovely views over the village Green, lovely big bed, sofa, coffee table, and separate little kitchen, and lovely big bathroom with proper size radox, Baylis and Harding soap and body wash. Staff and locals very friendly Chef was great and comes out of kitchen to check everything is ok Breakfast was lovely, we came downstairs and tables were set with baskets of cereals yoghurt, juice to choose, and immediately were asked if you wanted tea/coffee and cooked breakfast. We felt very looked after!

Warm, friendly welcome when checking in and shown to our room. Even though the kitchen was closed the evening we arrived they asked if we would like a burger or fish and chips, we had the fish and chips which was lovely. Thought that was very kind of them. We ate in on the four evenings we were there and the food was very good, as was the breakfast.
Disappointing first impression, thought it looked untidy on the outside. Television in our room (The Sun) didn't work, we did tell Ash but he wasn't able to fix it.

Very friendly and welcoming bar staff on arrival, which was much appreciated after a long journey. We were shown to our characterful room (the 'Star Room') by the bar staff; the heating had been on, so the room was lovely and warm. Large bathroom, and both bedroom and bathroom were lovely and clean. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order, good choice of options, and delicious food. As in the description for the hotel, the steps to the accommodation are very steep, due to the age and character of the building. Our room didn't have a view, as it looked out over a single storey roof, but we were only staying one night and this did not detract from the enjoyment of our stay.

Breakfast was beautifully cooked and ample choice and portions. We ate there for evening meal too and the food was beautiful. Again, ample portions. The staff were so friendly, welcoming and accommodating as were the locals. The room was lovely and the water was piping hot so i enjoyed a nice warm bubble bath. The room was clean and even had a fridge and some refreshments.
So the only negatives I have is that the pub didn't open until 5pm and if you arrive early there is nothing else to pass time other than a short walk which we enjoyed. There are no shops etc in this village, just houses so you need to bare that in mind. The nearest supermarket or small shop was around 30 mins away. However this location suited us fine as we were completing the Oldfield Forge experience and that was all.
