The rooms were very comfortable and there was a great view. Everything we needed was available. Staff were very helpful and efficient. Good location for public transport and walking to Patterdale and Glenridding.

Only food available in the evening was £30 three course dinner. Bar snacks only available to 5 pm. Don't always want a big meal so had to go elsewhere for smaller. Staff were sometimes too efficient in taking plates away! Felt a little old-fashioned at times, which has both pros and cons.

The location is next level if you enjoy walking/running/cycling/photography. I don't think anybody could be disappointed with the dramatic surroundings. The staff were so helpful and friendly. Honestly, the nicest I've come across in a long time. Check-in was chatty and accommodating. They even surrendered their personal fan for my pregnant partner. Another member of staff took 10 mins to show me where I might see deer in the morning. Everything was clean and in good order. This is a popular spot, so parking was almost a struggle but the hotel said we could use a spare space at the back. The breakfast was on the basic side but perfectly ample. It was run efficiently by keen staff who made sure we had everything we needed. We would stay here again for sure.

We only had one key, which led to a bit of fuss leaving it at reception when we went out separately but easy to work around. The shower was hot and powerful until it had to compete with the neighbours at rush hour. The hotel is a series of old individual buildings brought together. It has character but does result in doors and steps in the corridor (top floor at least), which was a bit of a test for a person carrying two people's luggage and accessories. That said there is a lift and we don't pack light :)

The location was ideal with walking routes all around. The hotel has a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere. The outdoor area was just perfect to sit in and enjoy the views after a day of walking. The breakfast was great with a good choice. We enjoyed a fantastic evening meal on one of our night’s there. The bed was very comfortable. I would have no hesitation in making a return stay here. The staff were all lovely.

The shower pressure wasn’t the best, a small bearable negative amongst many positives.

Booked for Hellvelyn Hike, so location was pgreat for that. The staff was friendly. Room was clean and homely. Can order for breakfast pack, though not available time 8am, which didnt work out for my hiking departure. Dinner option is welcomed as no restaurance except a small pub nearby. Nice Ullser water just at the door.

Depending on what you do, location could be remote, with only bus that runs once an hr or two. Dinner time cut off at 8pm - was surprised as we arrived late and there was no food option around this area and the hotel kitchen was closed already when we arrived at 830.

Very warm welcome by all three receptionists, in particular by Lydia. She told us about the hotel, its facilities and was knowledgeable of the area. Our room was cosy and warm. Breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of food to choose from. Helpful bar and breakfast staff too.

We were there for a charity walk around Ullswater Lake and new we were going to miss breakfast on our first morning's stay. We requested some fruit/croissant which was agreed, however it had been forgotten to do. The pillows were very thick (for my husband) and the mattress was too soft which caused us both to roll and sink into the middle of the mattress.

Location of the hotel was fabulous Patterdale us absolutely beautiful, plenty of walks from the hotel you don't have to take the car, Glenridding is only 20 minutes away where you can access Helvellyn/striding edge. We got bed breakfast and evening meal which we couldn't fault and the breakfast were very good with lots of choices, the staff were so attentive friendly and helpful. The hotel is in need of refurbishment but the beds are clean and comfy, there is parking for guests and a lovely garden to the front with plenty of tables and benches with gorgeous views. I would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to be back soon.

Our first night we only had a double bed which was far too small for us. We asked to change for a twin where we were given a room with a double and a single which was far more comfortable with amazing views too. The staff will do anything to accommodate you and always with a cheery smile.

5 stars for being a 2 star bed and breakfast. I stayed here for 2 nights. The location is brilliant for Place Fell and Helvellyn. The rooms were great. Secure doors. Fast on demand temperature changes in the shower. Comfortable bedding. The food for lunch was great the BLT sandwich is nice. Breakfast was great served from 7am onwards. Great timing for going on a hike/walk/mountain climb in the morning. Full English breakfast with toast eggs beans bacon sausages cooked tomatoes and more. Clean toilets close to the entrance door saving you the time from going all the way to your room. The bar was nice. Served drinks until 11pm. The evening entertainment was nice. There was a dude singing some classic songs inside at the bar. The other guests were lovely to talk to and connected really well to everyone because they all had the adventurous motivation to be there. I had a great 45 minutes conversation with this guy about our similar travel experiences and where is great to explore next. Overall I had a fantastic experience/weekend there and would definitely be rebooking if I get the chance to. Thank you

If it rains there are only 3 parasol for about 10 outside seating tables and 4 benches so everyone has to move inside. They should get more.

Loved the calm and quiet surroundings… Is ideal for a getaway/staycation. Awesome homely breakfast and a good set 3-course menu for dinner. The entire staff was very warm and welcoming. Loved the choice of music playing softly. Was perfect for the Aira Force & Gowbarrow Trail and also for cruise on the Ullswater Lake to neighbouring Howyown and Pooley Bridge. I wish the buses to Penrith were more frequent though.

The only problem we faced was that the buses to and from Penrith was too sparse. Wish there were more eateries around or perhaps some a la carte options for dinner would be a good idea. My son and I were not up a 3 course meal every night as we are both small eaters and almost always skip dessert

The Staff was amazing in helping for parking guidance, helped us with room selection for check-in. They had amazing breakfast - I dont eat breakfast, but my Dad liked it - the dining room has amazing views and we love this location.

Nothing Much - The single beds in Twin room was a bit small for me, I'm 6Ft on the width - But the bed was very comfy and also the pillows. The staff was great in every interaction and loved their attitude to serve us and all the way until late. Thanks everyone, bar staff, Checkin Desk, parking and also the breakfast servers - thanks for your hospitality
