Loved the location, food and staff - so close to Petersfield which has evwry shop you might imagine just a 5/10min car ride away. Staff were excellent, very happy and helpful; suggesting port with cheese and sides of chips and generally being kind.

My only small niggle was the heating in the room - to be honest there was condensation on the window when we got in and I suspect the extractor fan in the shower maybe doesn't work? It was hot at night and being at the front, we didn't want to open the window. Green light in the middle of the main light was very bright too *I realise I'm an odd one here but hate lights of any kind in the dark* All else was amazing - new rooms, nice shower and great beds.

A small pub/inn in Steep, which is a few minutes drive from the centre of Petersfield. The room allocated was clean, quiet and well equipped, having been recently refurbished by the look of things. I had a very comfortable two night stay there. The staff, we’re friendly and helpful (albeit some in need of more training and experience of bar work), with particular mention to to the manager - Hugh, who went out if his way to help us with transportation to downtown Petersfield. The food quality was good but the menu was limited and a tad on the pricy side for a pub/inn style restaurant. The same to be said for drinks, where standard brand spirits (e.g. Gordons) was simply not available. On the whole, I’d recommend this little place without hesitation for a short stay and I think you’ll be very happy with the level of service provided by the very friendly and helpful staff.

Was just as noted on the site. Mike the Manger was very helpful and assisted me in all ways possible. Many times he took me into Town, (1 mile) since the bus route was discontinued. The room, bathroom and shower were as expected and the staff made sure to provide extra towels, etc. Ate supper there in the Pub several nights and the food was good and reasonable in price. The strongest point was the full English Breakfast prepare fresh every morning and set the tone for the day.

Was surprised to see the bus route on the site map had been discontinued. As stated above, Mike the Manager assisted with into town rides in the mornings. There is a local taxi service both to Town and back and reasonable in price.

The host at the Cricketers Inn Simon contacted me to tell me that the pub was closed so no food was available while we were there. Did we still want to stay? Yes we still wanted to stay. It was very quiet as we were the only people staying in the B&B part of the property. Everything was clean and comfortable. Tea & coffee plus water bottle and milk in a flask all available in the room, but no biscuits. Would recommend a stay here when the pub is open.

TV only worked for some strange channels and not what I call normal channels like BBC and ITV etc. This was a shame and especially for my autistic son no TV. A kettle would have been nice although we did have a coffee machine that gave hot water but only small tea cups would have liked a bigger mug. No hot water to wash hands and face but managed. These little issues may have been better if the pub had been open.

Rooms basic , clean. Beds ok Good showers Staff (one young lady seemed to be permanently on duty and was First Class. Nothing too much trouble, friendly and efficient. dinner was ok,

Rear rooms suffer from Pizza smoke and extractor smells and noise Room 5 mattress past its best and for a so called family room.... with the second bed you could not open the wardrobe/cupboard ! Breakfast a bit out of control...the coffee machine could only do one cup at a time (not good after a serious wedding party.

Easy free parking, clean and well presented, decorated nicely. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Sophie who sorted out a fan for the room and milk and seemed happy in her work.

The room upstairs was too hot. One of the rooms looked straight out onto the car park so not so great for privacy. We were advised that the rooms would be together as we were two families, however, we were disappointed to find they were in two separate floors, with no adjoining inside space.

the staff were friendly and accommodating. nothing was too much trouble, breakfast was good. room and bathroom clean and spacious. coffee machine good. lovely fluffy towels, ample parking. can imagine it would be lovely in the winter with the open fires.

wifi not so great. bit noisy due to road, but not a major issue, outweighed by convenience of the location.

Breakfast was nicely cooked, not too much for travelling - but plenty. Mike and the staff were all very nice to deal with and friendly and went out of their way if you needed anything Tea/Coffee and Biscuits were amply supplied and very appreciated after a very long journey and day ! Evening Meal was very good and plenty of it

Your talking to an expert now - I did this for 15yrs + Could have done with either a ceiling fan or small work top one in the really hot weather. Find a way to fix restricters to down stairs windows so you can get a bit of fresh air. Light in bathroom needed shade removing and cleaning also the one above the sink ( dirt was inside) carpet in downstairs room needed hoovering and was slightly smelly in hot weather but some shake and vac or light quick shampoo would help. This is Not a criticism you asked for my honest expert advice ! Apart from that room was absolutely good.

The staff at the Cricketers Inn accommodated us completely. They enabled us to have an early check-in so we could get ready for a wedding at South Downs Manor. We had our 9 month old puppy with us and they even took him out for a toilet break half way through the evening so we didn't have to worry. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. Would highly recommend staying here.

Breakfast was fantastic, staff were excellent - friendly and professional and eager to please. Rooms were very clean and comfortable and felt recently refurbished.

The bathroom shelf over the basin was not secured properly and sloped away from the wall (just a tiny defect, everything else was excellent.
