Very easy to find, and our host was really friendly and helpful. The parking is very secure. The complex is really lovely, inside and out. The room is well provided with two chairs and desk. The little patio is a great bonus. We enjoyed sitting out. The breakfast was full of choices and copious. All in all this is a well thought out B&B with guests comfort being the core priority. Both this accommodation and the pub along the road had a lovely welcoming ethos. We would certainly hope to stay agan when we are travelling from north to south via A1M.

We received a friendly welcome on arrival. The room was really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The breakfast buffet had a good variety with cereal, bread, pastries and fruit - the coffee and hot chocolate were both excellent. We really liked the access to shared kitchen facilities - although we weren't there long enough to need the oven or hob, it was good to be able to get plates to eat our takeaway! While Pollington certainly doesn't feel like a hotbed of car crime, it was nice to be able to park securely behind a locked gate. And finally... really good value! Half the price of staying in (much less good) accommodation a few miles away in York.

Fir tree barn is lovely, really nice room, very modern and tasteful, a great location, nice and quiet, but not too far to travel into York and other places. Kitchen facilities were great, breakfast was lovely and lots of choice. Felt very secure behind the automated gates and appreciated the hosts are happy to let guests come and go as they please. Would recommend to anyone looking to stay in this area and would also visit again ourselves.

I wouldn't say there was anything we didn't like. We do normally opt for places with a full English included, but to be honest this made a nice change, so of you're thinking the same, don't worry, the continental breakfast is just as satisfying as a cooked one. Of course there's the option to cook yourself if you really wanted to anyway, so best of both worlds! Also, if you're looking to get anywhere via taxi, book well in advance! Shout out to Wans taxi though, top bloke who helped us out!

Lots of variety at breakfast from Cereals, toast, crumpets, fresh fruit, yoghurts, muffins, eggs etc. It was also lovely to have use of the kitchen in the evening to prepare a meal, or alternatively, get a takeaway and reheat if necessary. There is also a guest fridge and freezer to use which is great. Our room was lovely and spacious with a very large bed which was super comfy.

In my opinion, there is nothing to dislike. This is our second time staying here. Each time we were greated by Iain who is friendly and welcoming. The first time we stayed was to attend a funeral. Whereas this time it was for pleasure.

The standard of the room and facilities far exceeded my expectations. The room was of a high standard, large, very clean and comfortable. The kitchen facilities were great and the 'help yourself' breakfast very good. We liked that the kitchen was available to make tea, coffee or to eat a takeaway if required. The owner was friendly and helpful. We particularly liked the gated parking, so felt our car was very secure. Modern bathroom and super hot shower. Lovely quiet room and exceptional value for such a superb B&B

Nothing. We could not fault this accomodation. We'd had difficulty finding somewhere to stay and had not expected Fir Tree Barn to be as good as it is.

What a fab Hidden Gem! Located in a quiet little village away from the beaten track. Doesn’t look much from the front but inside it’s bright clean spacious and Iain is an organised, friendly, approachable host. Honestly really surprised me and such a fab place to stay, definitely have this one on my go back too list!

We were there on one of the hottest days of the year and an outside space for sitting & relaxing would have been nice but certainly didn’t detract from the place as there is a public park 50 odd meters away, the village is lovely & there’s a nice little pub 10/15 minutes walk away too!

Lovely guest house in quiet village with canal path walks. Room was as advertised, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful and also used kitchen facilities for evening meal.

I suspect the windows didn't open very much for safety reasons but as it was very hot would have been nice to have a bit more fresh air in the room. The fans were very welcome though.

Lovely facilities. Very peaceful location. Whole set up was great and so much extra to cater for guests especially in the communal kitchen area including a guest fridge and freezer and ability to prep own meals. Lovely extensive spread at breakfast. We loved our little balcony and wish we could have stayed longer. So convenient to get to York Park and Ride.

Nothing not to like!

A cosy place, spotlessly clean and generously managed. A gentle view outside from the back porch, and Wayne recommended a nice walk along the canal. The self-serve breakfast is generous and there are gluten free options available if you ask for them. Easy check-in and check-out. We had a relaxing stay and slept well.

It's a good address, we would return.

Iain was very welcoming and helpful. Accommodation is in a motel style annexe with a communal kitchen - room 3 overlooks farm fields. Very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is 'help yourself' with a good variety and suits all tastes. Secure parking with gate access. Local pub (The Kings Head) is a six minute walk - food seems a little variable but not expensive. I would definitely return to Fir Tree Barn.

Nothing - if I was being really critical the room walls seem thin, some noise from neighbours but not obtrusive.
