Exceptional value for money. Good pub grub. Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable and quiet room. Right in the middle of Selby. What more can you ask for?

When I made the booking through booking.com and the confirmation came through it mentioned the need for ear plugs and to be honest, if I had been given this information before I made the booking I probably would have not made it. However we had a perfect nights sleep with no noise at all.

Old rabbit warren of rooms but kept immaculate. I can’t fault the cleanliness of the bedrooms, hallways, stairs the cleaning staff work extremely hard and it shows. Breakfast was lovely, and the staff in the morning were always polite and helpful.

The food on offer (evening food) was lacking. A lot was out of stock or adjustments couldn’t be made to the choice. Some staff could be happier.

The staff was fantastic. Very friendly and went the extra mile to make our stay perfect. The Room was spotless lovely comfortable bed .lovely bedding and beautiful fluffy white towels . Hot water and shower great. The breakfast was very good to. Great choice for every one . And the service was excellent. Would definitely stay their again . Location perfect. As we was visting family and friends. Thank you to all the staff.

The family sized room was perfect and very comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. The pub was cute as a button. The location was very good. It was near the abbey and shops. Good prep point for visiting York the next morning.

The next room was exceptionally noisy, but the hotel apologized. They said that it was out of the norm and not the type of clientele they encouraged. I believe this to be the case as some other staff were apologetic. Parking was difficult to find. Wish we had a heads up on that.

Breakfast was cooked to order served on hot plates and was very good... Our room had a poor view as we were at the back of the hotel but the room was large, comfortable and clean.. The other couple we met up with had a room at the front of the hotel and were looking out onto the Abbey... On getting home we have booked to come back and meet up with our friends again at the George Inn.. All of the staff were brilliant and helpful. Thank you all :)

Very good breakfast in a great location and excellent value for money. This is where prices should be and clearly highlights how the public are being ripped off by the majority of similar establishments, in terms of accommodation AND food served. Good work by The George Inn, I applaud you!

A bit of noise on the streets outside as some local goons played with their internal combustion engines too enthusiastically.

The room with en-suite, tea tray was very clean, bed comfortable and bed linen perfect. The cooked breakfast was excellent. Location was central which was good for my friends to pick me up. It's an old Inn and can imagen how it was years ago. It had a nice atmosphere, al-beit you register in the pub with the bar staff.

My room was quite a way for me to walk, as I use a walking stick. Given that I wasn't offered/given help to carry my overnight bag up the many stairs and long corridors! I could have asked but I didn't realise how far it was to my room.

Very comfortable traditional inn, but with all the modern things you would expect. Great location in town centre. staff were very helpful. Easy free parking behind hotel. Good range of traditional ales at bar, well kept. Excellent breakfast. We had planned to go out for food when we arrived, but there was an excellent pub food menu, very reasonably priced, so we ate at The George instead. The bedroom was large and comfortable. Bed very comfy. Would stay there again.

The premises and accommodation was excellent. Staff friendly and helped me with my luggage up and down the stairs which was a great help due to my Back problem. Parking very convenient. Food good and location perfect.

Just a passing comment for the Chef, and that the breakfast sausage was somewhat overcooked so couldn't be eaten.

Lovely building, rooms were clean and comfortable. Good was good.

My daughter and son in law had a room at the front and were woken early by the noise of the market being set up. Could have done with pre warning. At breakfast there were contractors moving tables around us whilst we were eating. Staff asked them to wait till we had finished breakfast but the elder man still continued!! Very rude!!
