I only needed a starting point before embarking on the John O’ Groats trail the next day. As such, it’s very well located and was among the cheaper accommodation available in the area. My single room was plenty big enough and the host offers plenty of refreshments and a generous selection of cookies. I asked for breakfast at 0730h and my cooked breakfast was served at precisely 0730h. Perfect when you need to get away on time to get the fabled bus from Wick to JoG!

I’d selected a room with a separate bathroom (which was reserved for my use only) across the landing. This was a minor inconvenience. However the bathroom was large and the shower was excellent with piping hot water and good pressure.

The breakfast was excellent, very filling and served to our room (facility doesn't have a large space for serving breakfast) - this was quite nice and intimate and the personal service appreciated. Staff very friendly, informative, helpful and accommodating. Building has lots of character.

Rooms are all on an upper floor necessitating a climb up a couple of flights of stairs. However, we were forewarned of this but forgot the information so this is a not a complaint. Plus the owner carried our suitcases to our room, which was much appreciated.

The owners were super nice and provided great information. Choosing the breakfast the night before and having it delivered to our room was really good (and good food!). Bed was comfy, room was fine overall and the view lovely.

Breakfast table in our room was small and needed TLC. We had to move the table and chairs so that we could both eat the lovely breakfast. Carpets needed deep cleaning, bathroom didn’t feel clean (toothpaste left on the shelf and the shower stall didn’t look clean). Paint refresh would be good, too.

An interesting stay which exceeded our expectations. We only stayed for one night and arrived later than expected so we cannot really comment on the appropriateness of the location for Wick but we were within walking distance of the restaurant we had booked. Don't be fooled by the outside of the accommodation as once in our room we had all the amenities we required plus a few extra touches plus a nice view of the harbour (we were in room 2). The bed was very comfortable, the room clean and the arrival of our very substantial breakfast delivered by the owner to our room was a quirky treat. The host and his daughter were very friendly and the whole stay represented very good value for money.

There for just one night having delivered a car to the area from London.Arrived tired just needing to eat and sleep. Friendly greeting without being OTT ,shown room and breakfast ordered job done.Room was warm and comfortable if a little tired but everything needed was there and more than expected for the price to be fair. Having had good nights sleep enjoyed great breakfast and owner even delivered me to local airport for journey back to the south.Doesn’t get better than that in my experience.

Comments on here about bein old and dated??… yea it’s no Premier Inn but then again they’re not always spot on .Unlikely same sort of job will come up but would definitely stay again

Brilliant hosts, warm welcome, comfortable bed, very good breakfast, excellent price, good location.

The Harbour House needs a bit of care when it comes to cleaning. The bathroom floor was dirty, the windows in my room needed a clean, the kettle, coffee machine, and breakfast hotplate all really needed a good clean and polish, even the entry porch. If the owners could focus on this aspect, they could quite easily put their prices up as its a good building, with good rooms, in a great little spot.

Stayed in room 4, which was up 4 flights of stairs. A large double bed and a single bed, both comfortable. Tea and Coffee making facilities, including a coffee machine. Biscuits also provided. Table to eat at, as Breakfast is brought to the room. TV with Netflix. Bathroom was a decent size but the shower cubicle was on the small side. Great view from the window of the harbour, but it didn’t open, we was provided with a fan though. The owners were happy to chill our Prosecco for us and provided glasses, which we felt was very thoughtful. Free parking outside the property.

You are limited to only four choices for your cooked breakfast. The room and the accommodation in general needs a lick of paint and a deep clean. There were lots of flys in the front porch, which wasn’t pleasant.

Staff were welcoming, friendly, helpful & professional. The b'fast was excellent. They were flexible & accommodating with the b'fast time, which was really appreciated if you were, as I was, aiming to catch an early bus. There's no b'fast room - it's delivered to your room on a trolley by the chef himself!! The b'fast is a wonderful mix of cooked (full Scottish with vegetarian option & ample slices of toast) & cold (cereals & juice), filling & very tasty. There is coffee/tea making facilities already in the room as well as a good supply of biscuits (which was a lovely welcoming touch). Location is ideal - right by the harbour (in fact, it's an ex-harbour master's house) & a nice 5 min walk around the harbour to the town centre & the different bus stops you might need for Thurso & John O'Groats. The rooms are on the second floor (in the roof) & have views overlooking the harbour & out to sea. Bed was comfortable, room was spacious, light & cosy.

Although private, the bathroom for my single room wasn't en-suite but across the landing.

Close to railway station & town centre, ie all within walking distance. Nice view of the harbour Room had menus for places to eat out & B&B offered to provide cutlery etc if I ordered takeaway Room set up to provide cooked breakfast in the room, although I had a breakfast to take away as had early morning train. This was delivered to my room - brilliant service. There was a place to store my bicycle Room & hotel were warm Spacious room & bathroom

One of the window shutters in the room jammed - minor inconvenience & reported to the owner when I checked out.

We were greeted by a very pleasant host who did everything for our comfort. He delivered a home made Scottish breakfast in our room. The room was cosy but comfortable with a large double bed, on suite bathroom, and a wonderful direct view to the harbour.

Nothing really. The hallway and the stairs looked a bit tired but the room inside was clean and the hospitality was great.
