It was all very good, we had breakfast every morning and ate twice in the restaurant/bar. The room - we had a studio, although we'd booked a twin - had more than enough space and was warm, comfortable and very clean, as was the whole hotel. Family run, the staff were very friendly, and happy there was always laughter & chatter which gave the place a really nice feel. They have plenty of information leaflets about the area and what to do, location is good as well. Great place, would recomend it.

Nothing. This is a really nice place to stay.

Cosy room, good location a few minutes walk from restaurants etc. Good wifi, decent shower. Good breakfast, and fantastic staff serving it - we told them we were running a little late for the ferry and they delivered breakfast in record speed! Easy/plentiful parking.

Rooms a little hard to find - the "Coach house" building could use better signage. For some reason the heating was on in July, which we only realised half way through the night while wondering why we were hot! Perhaps a little expensive at £110, but it was high season.

The courtyard room was perfect for us and the two hounds, with living area, sleeping area and larger than average bathroom, with parking right outside for easy unloading. The room was clean and functional. Fresh towels every day if you want them (there was no heated towel rail in our room so this was most welcome) and tea, coffee and biscuits also replenished daily. We were accommodated in the bar for breakfast and dinner and the team were magnificent, they couldn't do more for us and the Hounds were thoroughly spoilt. The food is really good, with special mentions for the curry of the day, the black pudding bonbons, macaroni cheese and the duo of salmon. Breakfast is equally good, freshly cooked to order and the Hounds loved the sausages! Situated in the town so a short walk to town centre shops and the beach. A handy park next to the river was just down the road, perfect for walkies. Handy convenience store over the road.

Just a suggestion.... some coat hooks would be good for damp jackets etc. in the room and in the bathroom for clothes etc.

The room was spacious, with a sleeping area (double and single bed) and a sitting area (sofa, chair, table). The TV was situated so that it could be viewed from both locations. There was plenty of storage space. The bathroom had a shower and a bath, and was clean and functional (a very tall person may find the shower a bit neat but it was fine for us under 6ft folk!), and there were plenty of towels supplied for the 2 of us. There were 3 radiators in the room/bathroom, we only used the one in the bathroom as that generated enough heat for the whole room, and it was possible to turn the others on too. Our room was one of the studio rooms, with it's own little door, and we could park right outside (I believe the hotel to have a variety of rooms, including inside the main building, studio, chalet, and also apartments - best to confirm which you are booking if you have a preference). Breakfast was from a selection of cereals, yoghurt, or something cooked, I opted mainly for cereal/toast but did have a pleasant scrambled egg on toast on the final morning. We ate a main meal in the Hotel Restaurant on our final night, there was a good choice and our food tasted lovely (the hand cut chips are very nice!). Check in and check out was smooth (even though it was a sudden booking made less than an hour before arrival), and the staff were friendly. Although located in central Thurso, our room was quiet and we slept as well as I have ever slept in a hotel room. WiFi was pretty fast too, always a plus!

TV reception was occasionally a little patchy but it mostly returned fairly quickly. The style of the bedroom may be described as a little dated in some ways, however it's perfectly functional and comfortable, and felt clean.

The location is fantastic and in walking distance to restaurants and bars. The staff are super friendly and we really enjoyed the in house lounge and bar. Had a great selection of beers and is super comfortable. Our room was huge and had a great shower.

The rooms are a little dated but this isn't a problem. The breakfast was the worst we've had in Scotland, everything seemed like it had been cooked hours before.

Despite arriving late (11pm), we were given a pleasant welcome and the lady on duty even went out of her way to get fresh lemon for my drink. The lounge was nicely decorated and cosy, with some lovely framed prints. Breakfast was yummy, staff were all friendly, free private parking was convenient, and just round the corner from the fabulous artisan coffee shop and restaurant, Olive - would stay again!

Great hotel with friendly staff. The hotel is full of life with very helpful, friendly staff and a great vibe about it. It’s an older hotel and full of character. It’s central, in a great location but not noisy. There is free on site parking at the back of the hotel. The breakfast was the best I had in Scotland.

Nothing could have been better. It’s the perfect little hotel.

Lovely, friendly staff from the warm welcome when we arrived, from bar staff in the evening and the breakfast staff in the morning. Everything was clean and in good repair. Evening meal in the bar and breakfast next morning were excellent - some good quality ingredients used.

Some of the fixtures are not the best quality, but they were good enough and more importantly, they were clean and worked.

As one might expect from the name, very convenient for Thurso rail station. Staff exceptionally accommodating; I arrived late and left early and the hotel staff were very helpful and understanding. Full Scottish Breakfast outstanding - but I'd have to switch to something lighter if I were staying several days! Especially with Haggis Nachos on the evening menu... (see photograph)

We stayed one night to catch the ferry across to Orkney on a self-driving holiday. For us the location was perfect as we were able to enjoy the breakfast and then a couple of minutes drive over to check in with plenty of time to spare. Breakfast service was nice and quick. Parking was great with easy access in and out of the property. The room facilities were good and the shower was hot.
