Great stop over on my way to Cornwall, although situated on a busy road I had a room at the back so lovely and quiet. I didn’t eat in the pub but looked welcoming with a good menu You can also check in and checkout online a a big plus
I didn’t realise my stay included breakfast would have been nice if I’d been told this when I checked in with information on breakfast times. I had a drink in the bar early on the Sunday evening the very young barman was very chatty and charming to the young girls he was serving before me. But when he served me he could hardly crack a smile I’m aware to him I was ancient but that really shouldn’t matter.

Right from the moment we arrived we were made to feel most welcome. The place was warm and cosy with open fires and a lovely atmosphere. The room was well furnished with everything we needed. The bed was possibly the most comfortable we have ever slept in on our many short trips in the UK. The evening meal was lovely, the fish stew to be recommended. Breakfast was superb ! The same young man who served the evening meal was still working in the breakfast room, still as accommodating and cheerful as the evening before, a true professional in hospitality. We will certainly return the next time we need to visit the Bath and West showground.

Location very close to Glastonbury. The restaurant inside by the bar and open fire, good menu and good food, staff friendly. All wines were availble as glass, some nice ones too. Room good size and comfy bed, loads of pillows, ensuite bathroom. Bowl in room for our little doggo too. Good Breakfast hot and cold. Great checkin and check out system, make sure you get on it, very easy and takes out check in / out hassle.
Bedroom was tired, but clean and a good size, same with bathroom. TV reception was poor. Spicy Margarita really needs some work, or the person making it needs to know, how to make a good margarita, then whats needed to added a hint of warmth. it did ruin an otherwise good meal - no one likes to complain - it was undrinkable.

we've stayed here before and will stay again , it's a good location for our yearly shop in clarks village. The fireplace and general vibe is very relaxed but also feels like we are treating ourselves as it feels we are having a touch of luxury. We look forward to coming back time and time again. We both enjoyed our main meals and breakfast the next day. The staff are attentive and would support if we needed anything, but they also take a step and allow us to enjoy our time there.
The food is a little pricey for what you get, in future I do not think we will be having a dessert,.it just didn't reflect the price. Also not a huge deal but my cooked breakfast appeared to be missing an egg, or at least I was expecting an egg in a cooked breakfast.

We were 7 for lunch and 2 arrived very late, having broken down. The staff were unfailingly accommodating and charming about having to serve us so late. Nice comfortable atmosphere with well used sofas in seating areas; nothing pretentious, but homely and striking just the right note.
I didn't like the online checking in and out. Having to be sent a pass code is a ridiculously unnecessary piece of bureaucracy. The TV in our room didn't work, but when we reported it the next morning we were told that it would be tuned.

We arrived at The Lion after I had completed a 3 week charity walking challenge and I finished this with a walk up Glastonbury Tor. Exhausted, we were shown to our room Number 9. We had the best night sleep in the comfiest bed and beautiful room. The bathroom/wet room was gorgeous with beautiful products. Just what was needed. The owner had thought about everything including a mini fridge and a little outside area if you wanted it. Next time we will book in for an evening meal.
Nothing not to dislike.

Very comfortable room and friendly staff. Food in the pub is pricey, but well worth it, it is gorgeous. Nice little touches such as premium coffee and tea selections and a very nice collection of bath and body items to use in the spacious and lovely bathrooms. The bed was super comfy. Really enjoyed my stay.
No internet/wifi on the last couple of days, but no fault of the owners I'm sure. 4g reception not great in the room or pub, so a bit of difficulty planning, but nothing I couldn't get around. Also, I had asked a member of staff if I could get a refund for one of the breakfasts, as I didn't eat there one of the mornings. I prepaid for 3, forgetting that one of the days I wouldn't be eating there. I did ask one of the staff twice to get a refund for it, but haven't heard anything back from them yet.

A very well appointed and comfortable room with ample storage, and I loved that the ensuite had a bath as well as a a shower. There was a good selection of toiletries provided, and real coffee with a cafetiere and fresh milk in the room. The pub is welcoming and has a good outside space too, and a good varied menu at reasonable prices for food and drink. The breakfast was good, catering for vegan/vegetarian as well as conventional English breakfast and other cooked options, fresh fruit, yoghurt with compote, cereal and preserves, croissants and toast.
Only one coffee was offered, no choice of bread for toast, or vegan/non dairy spread, but we were only staying one night and they did have oat milk, so this is only a minor thing really

The deluxe double (room 9) was beautiful. Immaculate decor and superb wet room. The filter coffee and cafetiere provided in the room was the best we have ever had on a holiday. The toiletries in the bathroom were luxurious and plentiful. Fantastic haddock and chips meal. The best burger and fries ever.
The unevenness on the cobble path outside room attributed to a fall. The servings of the duck breast with red wine sauce and the sea trout meals were disappointingly small although very tasty. We had to have a snack later in our room.

The rooms were warm and cosy with very spacious baths in the bathrooms and a super comfy bed. The staff that checked us in were super helpful and polite. Breakfast was amazing.
We had dinner in the restaurant one night and although the wait staff were exceptional they explained there were problems in the kitchen which lead to a very long wait on our food. We were given some free drinks to make up for this however. The restaurant did not appear very busy either so definitely some issues with kitchen staff behind the scenes.
