Staff was good. Breakfast was great and the bed was comfortley A good chioce to be able to decide bath or shower.

I did not like the fact there are very few parking spaces at this hotel. I also did not like the fact that as a guest i had to pay £6 for overnight parking, when in my opinion should of been free to guests.

I liked the location of the hotel and how easy it was to travel by bus from here. The breakfast was good. The food in the Orrest bar was acceptable. It didn’t affect me but when checking in people need to be told they need to book for the evening meal. I saw many residents turned away because of this.

The room was comfortable but as always when single the room provided is usually at the back with no view. On Thursday morning I had to put two wasps out of the window but still there were more in the room. They were going behind the bed. I reported this at reception and the lady said she would send someone up with a hoover! At this point I had packed my things ready to leave later. I then went for a walk, it was 7am. When I returned the receptionist said no wasps had been found. I found this strange as I know there were some there when I left. Anyway I had breakfast and checked out. I was upset at not being believed!!

Well located hotel, in a slightly elevated position at the top end of Windermere town, approx. one and a half miles from Bowness for steamers. Directly opposite train and bus stations for easy access for all areas of the Lake District. Large imposing building with car park {charge}. Public rooms are well appointed. My bedroom, a single en-suite was on the second floor with a lovely view overlooking the town towards the lake. Bedroom was furnished to a high standard with all the facilities required for a comfortable stay. Approx. half the rooms are on the ground floor. There is only one lift with a capacity of two persons. Buffet breakfast offers a wide choice of both hot and cold items sufficient for any appetite.

I could find nothing to dislike.

We had a superior room on the front of the hotel which had a spectacular view. The meals in the restaurant were good along with the service and there was a good selection of food offered at both breakfast and the evening meal.

The idea of allowing dogs in a carpeted dining area should be re-examined especially when they start yelping and barking to the annoyance of other diners whilst their owner's have their meal. If this practice is to be continued a non carpeted area would be much more hygienic and easier to clean. Quiet, background music in the main dining area is appreciated, but at a lower volume so that you are able to have a conversation and not be drowned out if you are in the vicinity of the speakers. If room servicing is now to be ‘by request’ only, the bins in both he room and bathroom should be at least emptied daily.

The location was great. At the top of Windermere overlooking the town. Far enough away, so didn't hear a lot from passers-by. The room was spacious. We had a bay room at the front looking out at the town. The room was very clean. Tea and coffee are available in the room. Check-in reception provided us with glasses for a bottle of wine we had brought. Couldn't have been more helpful. The Orrest Head bar next door does a great meal where the staff again are extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast was tasty. Good choice of continental or traditional breakfast. As soon as we sat down, we were asked whether we wanted tea or coffee, which was brought to our table. The car park fee of £6 is very reasonable considering you can leave the car there until 3pm on the day of check out. This was extremely helpful to us as we were supporting family in the North swim and didn't have to worry where we were going to park. Overall, it was a great stay. Don't take notice of the bad reviews ...I nearly cancelled after reading them, but I'm glad I didn't.

The staff were really helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good. Plenty of choice and food was hot.

The lift could only take one person at a time without luggage as it wasn't working properly.

Perfect for a short trip for couples- Lovely clean room, decent breakfast (nothing special but good enough to fill up for a day of walking!) and super easy to get to from the train station. Lovely walks nearby, very easy to walk down into town and to Bowness. Good bus links and amazing views! My boyfriend and I had a great trip for his birthday, thank you Windermere hotel for being a part of it!

Would have liked more breakfast options or for breakfast to be offered later for us night owls, but still lovely!

We got the best room in the hotel and were very comfortable, the bus station across the road meant that I never once used my car and we probably saw more of the Lakes than we ever did by car! The food was good as was the staff what more would you need?

If any criticism at all it would be that Booking.com never told us about the parking charge which we only found out after we had booked, apart from that we would have preferred a choice of breakfast eggs which is a minor issue!

Friendly service attentive staff lovely comfortable rooms and warm very clean hotel Buffet breakfast absolutely lovely and variety of dishes to choose from.

Stayed in 218 room and wasn't explained we had to pay extra for Christmas Dinner booked at 2 o'clock Christmas day although we ate a bit of the meal. We had breakfast and evening meal booked at 7pm so having to pay for a Christmas Dinner was a down side to our stay. Also we didn't receive a Christmas present from the hotel as other guests did and Christmas day we was told no cheese and biscuits or cake and mince pies weren't available for us at our 2pm booked meal but we paid for the Christmas Dinner and wasn't any left to accompany our paid meal. And paying for parking on the car park.

The staff were amazing - so friendly and helpful - and the hotel is just what you need for a trip to Windermere. Great location overlooking Windermere town and the mountains, and an easy to walk to the lake/boating trips/shops and cafes in the centre. Our room was exactly as described and great value for such a good location. The view from our window was spectacular, and parking was only £6 for our one-night stay. The hotel is right next to a lovely bistro where we enjoyed a chilled evening meal. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!
