August 2023

The room was excellent, quiet, decorated to a very high standard. Very comfortable bed, everything we needed was in the room. Bonus having space in the car park for free. Based in town not far from Blenheim Palace although we did not visit this time. Stayed enroute to a driving experience next day in Bicester. The bar/restaurant was tastefully decorated, lovely menu and various choices of gins etc.

Unfortunately it seemed like the bars in the area all closed around 10-10.30pm which was a shame, as it was the start of the holiday season.

This was a great family suite for 5 of us. Nice to have two rooms. Staff were friendly and we had a lovely dinner at the pub. Central location in Woodstock. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again or recommend to friends.

The suite was comfortable but there wasn't a single shelf, dresser or hook for organisation. As a family of 5 we arrived in the rain (a common occurrence in England) and there wasn't a single hook to hang raincoats on. This is a small thing as overall we enjoyed our stay but the flip side is that just a few inexpensive hooks on the back of doors would have made the stay that much better.

Brand new, spotlessly clean, and tastefully decorated rooms in the heart of Woodstock. Very spacious with plenty of USB ports and plugs, fresh towels daily, tea / coffee, etc. Lots of info supplied via email before arrival and we were even able to check in early. Very peaceful and quiet room in the back of the pub away from the main road, which was much appreciated given we needed a relaxing weekend.

Would have expected a bigger and more comfortable bed in such a large, well-appointed room (it seemed like a double, but the room could easily have fit a super king!).

Location Size of room was lovely and spacious Super comfy bed Lovely well lit spacious shower room Beautifully renovated room

We had booked on line for a spare bed to be set up in our room...it wasn't set up even though our booking confirmation had confirmed it. At the time we came to our room there was noone to ask. This was instantly corrected the next morning but it meant we had had to share so l didn't sleep well on the first night. Had the bed been available for both nights l would have given this property 10 out of 10. The access corridor still needs renovation .

in the centre of the town the stylish comfortable pub has beautiful large rooms with wonderful bathrooms with huge showers. It feels homely and relaxed and the staff are, without exception, friendly welcoming and friendly whilst being professional. All in all a lovely place to stay, dogs are welcome. Oh and food….make sure you have a delicious cooked breakfast and very tasty dinner.

My only slightly negative comment the shower which is perfectly good could be slightly more powerful/ lager head to make every use of the huge shower cubicles.

We chose the Punchbowl for its location as was visiting Blenheim Palace. From arrival in the town it is perfectly located, looks fantastic from the outside and used its own car park, walked through the courtyard garden which on a summers day would not want to be anywhere else, but alas had to check in and leave for day. Couldnt fault the room, staff, cleanliness or the breakfast. Only thing I was disappointed about was we had other plans for the evening and the food looked amazing so couldnt enjoy.

Staff were really helpful and so friendly, it wasn't any trouble to get extra pillows and towels. Rooms were clean and newly refurbished. Location is great. Breakfast in the morning was great and an abundance of choice. Kids even got treated to a selection box each from the owner. Such a lovely family run hotel.

The only thing we found frustrating was the outside door banging everytime it was used. This door is strictly for hotel guests, so not too many instances but would definitely be improved by having a slow close on it rather than the loud bang. It wouldn't stop us from coming back again however.

Good breakfast, cooked to order, dining room fine.

The room was very warm & due to the location near the main road, quite noisy at night, probably worse due to the rain.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Room and bathroom were finished quite well to a high standard. Managed to park my van in the on-site car park which was a good bonus. Great location for exploring Blenheim palace. Lot’s of other pubs and restaurants nearby, within easy walking distance.

Some confusion with staff during busy times. Trying to get served was impossible and in fact we went across the road. I would have expected staying guests to have a bit more priority. Was expensive! Although since covid everyone seems to be on the charge as much as possible band wagon. Breakfast was half the cost across the road.

Bedrooms have recently been refurbished and they were lovely. Our room, Room 1, was on the front, very spacious and airy with lovely large en suite bathroom and large walk in shower, lovely modern touches, as per photo and very clean. We live in a very quiet position in a rural Yorkshire village so did notice the road noise out the front a bit, there are rooms on the back of the property apparently if you think this may be an issue. It is an 18th century inn so have to realise that original windows etc as opposed to double glazing at home ! Nothing negative, lovely rooms. The staff at the hotel were all lovely and friendly. There's a car park that fits about 7 cars in at the rear of the property, and one electric charging point. We managed to park there, is full they are very obliging to say is can block a staff car in for few hours and move car later etc. Very convenient for visiting Blenheim Palace, Oxford, Bicester Village and the village of Woodstock itself is quite large and very nice for a walk around. We had breakfast the following morning, having stayed 1 night over the weekend to visit our son. Yoghurts, fruit, cereal, juice and cooked breakfast made to order. Very nice. Our son and daughter joined us for breakfast even though they stayed at my son's apartment in Kidlington, which was nice, followed by a walk round the village the the grounds of Blenheim with our dog. Our dog was made very welcome, dog bed given whilst we dined the first evening and for the room. They even made him some sausages whilst we had dinner the first evening. Always nice when I can get alcohol free beer too ( due to medication I don't drink ) - no problem here ! Lovely family run pub, with recently refurbished bedrooms in a great location. Everyone super friendly and helpful.

If sensitive to road noise ask for one of the rooms to the rear away from the main road. They will advise as very helpful.
