Had a really great stay. Room was spacious and very comfortable. Cleanliness was good. Food was excellent and both evening meal and breakfast was above expectations. Lots of choice on the menu .

Being picky it would have been good if we had been given a drinks/ wine menu, rather than just told what was available. Also, if it had been stated as information what the dinner allowance was for each guest ( it was actually £20 per person , as I found out when I checked out next morning). . Even though I asked if there was a set menu as part of the package I had booked via Bookings.com ,I was told I could choose whatever from the menu. Bit confusing.

5* customer service. Sharna was a credit to Sturdys Castle. After an initial issue with our accommodation, no fault of the hotel, she ensured our stay was the best it could be. The food in the restaurant was excellent, we chose not to try anywhere else, as it was so delicious!

There are no issues with the accommodation or the management of Sturdys Castle. They accommodated us to the best of their ability. My issue is with booking.com. If I book accommodation through them, I expect my requirements to be communicated in a timely manner to the accommodation provider. These details were given at the outset & on a number of occasions leading up to our weekend away, but only communicated on the first day of our booking, hence our requirements could not be met. I will give credit to booking.com for finally accepting their error and appropriately compensating me!

Very pretty from the outside. We had 2 rooms. Room 2 on the bottom floor was lovely and new, where as room 11 was a little bit more outdated. However both were clean and good for a nights sleep. Food was amazing both breakfast and dinner was delicious!! Dinner was very cheap considering how yummy! Big car park - free parking.

Depends which room you, depends on how nice the stay is! We ate in the bar and was kind of confused on how the service worked - was told it was table but then had to go up to bar to pay ect (not a big deal tho!). The immediate area is a bit dead, however quick drive up to Bicester or Oxford :).

Room clean and spacious, bed comfy, plenty of onsite parking, wifi good, shower and bathroom good (both bath and shower), breakfast good and plenty of choice. Best thing about this place was the restaurant. Choice of pub dishes on one side of the menu and choice of Indian dishes on the other, we all went for the Indian menu and weren't disappointed (we'd heard it was good)...reallly excellent food. My understanding is they have an Asian chef and it looks like the locals treat it as their local Indian restaurant. Would recommend a stay, but don't miss out on the restaurant! With one drink each and two courses for three came to around £80.

It was a lovely big room and the bed and tv were just right - there was tons of channels and I seem to remember you have to 10 in front of say 1 to get BBC1 - we also got two lots of biscuits every morning and good amount of coffee, etc. There was also a decent size bath as well as shower with plenty of soap and shower gel. The staff were brilliant, very friendly and attentive, even if there was a queue at reception they'd show us to our table without having to wait and if you wanted another drink during your meal they'd get it for you. The full cooked breakfast was superb both with regards to quantity and quality and so were the evening meals - the final evening I had a lovely big fish and chips and then had to help my wife out because she had too much pizza, I was'nt complaining and that pizza was real good. Also just right location for visiting the Cotswolds, Chilterns, Blenheim Palace and of course, Oxford - just one thing you've got to watch your speed in Oxfordshire, as it's a bit like Wales - a lot of the villages and sometimes bigger places have you doing 20 mph!!

Nothing really, apart from maybe slightly bigger toilet rolls if you go for the curry menu!!

Clean & spacious rooms, separate from the bar/restaurant so easy access for late return (be prepared for it to feel more like a motel than a hotel, and slightly soul-less). Very pleasant and airy breakfast room/restaurant. Location is middle of nowhere, you definitely need a car.

Not keen on having to book exactly what you want for breakfast the night before (we missed breakfast one day, despite having paid for it, because we forgot to order it the previous night). I appreciate this helps with planning, but I don't really know what I'll want to eat 14 hours ahead of time - we should just have ordered the "Full English" on a just-in-case basis.

Staff friendly, very nice and helpful. Plenty of parking and open space. Lovely building and nice garden. Easy and convenient location. Toiletries good. Relaxed atmosphere and welcoming.

Rooms "tired, hot and noisy"....main road outside and kitchen fan/extractor on all night. Only one pillow!! Bed too hard and cigarette burn in eiderdown. The bathroom was OK, but the toilet roll holder is coming off the wall and looking old. Overpriced in restaurant for quality of meal. Chose gammon for dinner but really 2 pieces of ham. Cheesecake dessert was not prepared in the kitchen, mass produced. Not nice and squirty cream!!!

Lovely peaceful location with local walks and excellent transport links for central Oxford. Food was excellent. The restaurant has two menu’s. An authentic Indian Curry house and traditional English Fayre. We chose the Indian menu and it was excellent. All food to a really high standard with an in depth knowledge of allergies and food sensitivity. Lovely friendly vibe in the restaurant. Breakfast was also excellent, with a good choice and, again, deep knowledge of food allergies and sensitivities. They even had Gluten Free black pudding… which was fab.

Nothing really. We just wanted a base and this was a really pleasant experience.

Booked 50 minutes before arrival as our car travel plans turned out different than expected. Incredibly lovely staff. Delicious food both at dinner and at breakfast. Cozy rooms and most importantly a comfortable bed. Would recommend and definitely going to stay there again if we need a bed again in that region.

The shower/bathtub combo in our room wasn’t ideal. Tried using it as a shower. It’s difficult not to flood the place as the shower head was a bit clogged and partially spraying directly at the shower curtain. Only comes with a permanently attached shower head, no handheld option.

I stayed for 4 nights and would find it hard to fault anything ! Fantastic service, especially from the Manager, who was so lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The room was exceptionally clean and had everything I needed. The breakfast area was also spotless and well presented. I chose the Full English Breakfast most days and the quality was excellent. Plenty of free parking,I would highly recommend this place and will define stay there again when I am back in the area. Thank you 😊
