The location was fabulous and our room had a terrace looking out over the garden and sea. The staff were lovely.
The food was a bit of a let down to be honest. We had one meal in the restaurant on the first night. I ordered mussels but they had ran out, so I had seafood linguine. It was ok. We ate out after that. Also, the breakfast was a bit of a let down. For the price I was expecting a lavish buffet breakfast, but there wasn’t one. I think this is because it was so quiet. Regardless of how quiet they are, I feel they should have still done the buffet breakfast. It was ok what we had, but I felt awkward asking for more food.

The room was very comfortable, the food was excellent and the service was exceptional. It is a very busy hotel , very popular with the locals. The gardens lead down to a small beach and you can eat from the restaurant menu or a more snacky menu. It is always very busy but the staff were amazing, friendly and efficient. Orders were taken and delivered much quuicker than I expected. The food, and we ate from both menu's during our stay, was very good indeed.
Nothing I can think of.

We stayed in a 'cosy snug'. The room was small as expected but comfortable nevertheless. It was very clean. The George is a classic heritage hotel located just 5 minutes walk from the ferry terminal in the Yarmouth town centre. A good breakfast was included and was served in a dining room overlooking the beer garden and with views across the Solent. Staff were friendly and helpful.

The location in Yarmouth and the waterside garden was perfect. This is an old building, the bedrooms are stylishly decorated but in keeping with the property. Noble toiletries were luxurious. It was 30 degrees during our visit in June 2023 and so the bedroom was warm, however a fan had been provided. The breakfast room is an extension to the main property and is light and spacious and we had the best full English breakfast we have ever tasted. After dining on our first evening we so enjoyed the meal we booked again for our second night and were not disappointed.
Everything was perfect. We would highly recommend.

Great location and super helpful and friendly staff.
The "double" bed in the room I had was 2 single beds pushed together which were of slightly different heights and firmness so was not the most comfortable.

The George is in an excellent location, close to the sea, in the centre of charming town of Yarmouth, and very close to the ferry. it combines old world ambience with modern standard facilities. I ate in the restaurant two nights, and food was excellent, with good service. The bed was fantastically comfortable, and bathroom a good size for an otherwise small room.
My 'cosy' room was what I had paid for, so no surprise, but the small window was a disappointment. No bathroobes even though they feature in photos of the hotel. My request for gluten free food was taken care of but I had to ask every time - a more personal service would have anticipated this at breakfast each day.

Breakfast was excellent and the view from the restaurant was fabulous
If I'm being really picky, our room could have done with a new mattress on the bed but other than that there wasn't much not to like

The property is lovely. We ate lunch and dinner there and the food was excellent as were all the staff.
There were 4 of us staying and in the morning we all agreed the beds are very uncomfortable and hard. They need to put mattress toppers on the beds. Also need new softer pillows. None of us slept well which is a shame as the hotel otherwise is great.

The ladies on reception, during breakfast and our housekeeper were so lovely and friendly. They go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was lovely and clean. Location great for seeing Yarmouth, lovely walks and near the ferry from Lymington.
It would have been very handy to have a small fridge and a safe on our room.

Everything! will not stay anywhere else, when I’m in that part of the isle. Absolutely amazing building inside out, located right on the beach, linked to old castle, which used to be part of the property back in the day. Terrace lounge in the hotel has access to water. you can just seat there enjoy the sound. Summer time I guess it’s an always booked site. Rooms in the hotel are well thought through, so know what are you getting. I would highly recommend for special occasion to visit superior room with a terrace. Food was just what I wanted and well made, including breakfast. Stuff could have not been more attentive and nice. we loved spending colder evening in original XVII st lounge room having a glass of wine. this hotel had always been a place of significance in the area, kings, merchants and other famous folks dropping by.
if you are more into lighter rooms with a bigger windows, I would recommend to book a room after classic up. I did love our classic room, but I appreciate it has one comparatively “small” window for a rathe large room. Again, this might be just me.
