Room was lovely, staff were very friendly

Use of the hot tub would be better if you could book. Turning up ready to go in, only to find 4 people already in there isn't ideal

The hotel is located just a 5-minute walk north of the main town center. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was small, but very functional and the bathroom was nice. We were allowed to leave our luggage for a few hours after we checked out.

The building is old and therefore doesn't have an elevator, so it was 55 steps up to our room. However, this is to be expected with an historic property like this. The internet could be stronger in the upper floors, however, there are tables and chairs you can work from in the lobby as well. Overall, our stay was a good experience.

I got a room upgrade and the room was spacious and the bathroom was just amazing with the bathtub, strong water flow and very comfortable with all amenities in the room. The location is 10 mins walking from the city center, straight by road or also through a beautiful garden that you can enjoy crossing. Excellent hosts that were very helpful and welcoming of visitors such as us. Would love to stay here again.

Wouldn't recommend this place for people that need a lift, as this place doesn't have one. Otherwise, the place is fantastic and highly recommended.

Comfortable bed. Very nice bathroom with bath as well as large walk in shower. Quaint old world room decor. Friendly helpful staff.

The extra doors are likely fire safety requirements but it makes reaching the room a less smooth experience after navigating the stairs. Landing lighting level not really adequate especially over stairwell. Stairs an issue for large bags but it's an old building without an elevator. Perhaps the front desk could offer a porter service to help bring guest's bags up the stairs to their room. Parking is at a premium but I was lucky availing of permitted street times under local bylaws.

We had a lovely bright spacious traditional room with an unexpectedly modern sleek bathroom. Nice towels and toiletries and a very comfortable bed. The room was very hot but a fan was provided. Breakfast was promptly provided(you order the night before). The dinner menu was limited but good value and very well cooked. Parking was just under £15 but we were glad to pay it as parking in York is hell! A very short walk to the river, the railway station and the city centre Friendly staff. A great stay

Great location and easy to find, comfortable beds, and lovely jacuzzi. Loved that we could see the jacuzzi from our room so knew when it was free!

The welcome on arrival was not the best if I;m honest. I'm afraid she was a bit short with me, and just a bit snappy instead of a warm welcome. She just sort of shoved my bill at me and seemed irritated that I'd opted to pay on arrival even though that was just the choice it gave me. Nothing awful and I wouldn't give a bad review as when I came back the second time when my friend had arrived, we were greeted very warmly and the lady was so helpful and nice. Also, great there was a car park but almost impossible to get out of the next day, I was almost trapped in, it's very tight.

- rooms were very practical with good facilities and I am a fan of when they provide sockets with USB slots. - good amount of mirrors and lighting. - comfortable bed. - room was warm and clean (maybe a little too warm as had to turn the radiators down) - staff were super friendly! - I didn’t have breakfast or use the spa/yoga facilities so can’t comment but nice to have that option.

- shower didn’t drain very well so the tray was nearly full by the time my 5minute shower was up. Also made it quite slippery for the next shower from the soap left behind.

It was a perfect 2-night stay. The staff were very kind. The house and rooms were maintained very well. No concerns on the cleanliness. One of our rooms was very spacious. The location is close to both railway station and the city center. It’s basically walking distance everywhere. The stay was a great value for money.

There was some work in the garden, so we didn’t bother the wellness part, but it’s purely our decision and we were informed upon check-in.

Staff are very welcoming and all very friendly, a lovely comfortable reception area . Room was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Location was great, within easy walking distance of The Minster, City centre and Christmas Market . Plenty of onsite parking at the rear of the hotel. Brilliant Breakfast . Would definitely use Headley House again for any future York stays and highly recommend .

Only slight niggle I had was we were on the 3rd floor , I feel I should point out that the stairs are quite a hike , would definitely request 1st floor if we return next year.

We had a lovely room, very clean and comfortable. Lots of tea and coffee, comfortable beds. Bathroom was fantastic lovely bath, separate good shower. Lovely toiletries cleanser, toner moisturiser. The shampoo moisturisers all very nice. Great hot tub from 4 pm -9 pm nice outside area. Really genuine staff, we left our cases while we went shopping on both days as we only stayed one night and the staff were very helpful. Real customer service.

Nothing to dislike. It rained!
