Sierra Mountain Inn

The location was great. The rooms were small but adequate and the bathrooms were large. Exceptionally clean. Crystal was very welcoming, friendly, and informative. She even recommended a good place to eat breakfast. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.

As others have said, the parking lot is small and is a little hard to navigate out to the street. We asked if we should park in front of our rooms and Crystal said yes. But when we came back later that night others have parked in those spaces so we took the only available place which was in front of the cottage. A couple asked us to move to our own space and when we told them someone else had parked in front of our room, they were super gracious. So maybe be more definitive and either tell people to park in front of their rooms or just say park anywhere. That would solve the problem. We loved our stay. Thank you.

I enjoyed the location of the hotel, because it was close enough to the shops and parade route, but far enough away that I wasn't caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday weekend. Also the room was well furnished and I enjoyed the kitchenette and overall atmosphere of the inn.

The parking was great in theory, because each room has a designated spot to park, but for the room I was in, the parking spot was a little tight. Thankfully I had good neighbors that were willing to scoot over a bit to make our in and outs more comfortable.

It is a very comfortable room and is well located in a quiet little neighborhood with access to downtown where there are a few good restaurants. The overall service is very good and the staff is quite friendly.

The place doesn't have any food services inside the premises. You pretty much need to get your own food and drinks. It would have been good if they had an option to have either an eatery or at least some breakfast that is served in the morning.

The room was clean and well maintained, the property was quaint and pleasant (quick stroll to town center) but most of all the bed... So comfy and cozy.

The road (Main St.) is quite noisy as it is a main thoroughfare... Cars and noisy pick-ups roaring by all evening and some through the night. Try to book a room further back from the street. Neighbors dogs next door barking all morning was a bit annoying too.

The room we stayed in felt very spacious and clean when we arrived. The manager was very friendly and answered every question I had. The key code system worked perfectly for us and made going in and out easy and hassle free.

The rooms didn't have a lock inside, typically it wouldn't be an issue but we have a toddler who knows how to open doors but doesn't know not to go out whenever. We had no easy way of preventing him from opening the handle and leaving. I would definitely recommend the ball and chain type inside lock for people in my situation.

Close distance to a cute downtown. Quiet night despite being on a main street. Utensils, plates, bowls, etc are easily accessible in the tiny kitchen. Lots of space especially with children. It has a beautiful view from the porch. It's got two bathrooms! Since there were four of us, we really needed that extra bathroom. Everything was clean and anything extra needed are in the lobby. Friendly front desk person as well.

I was expecting to see individually wrapped soap and lotion but they didn't. They did have dish soap, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I guess they should have lotion available especially during the winter.

The place was clean and cozy, not too far from local restaurants and shipping centers. The place is well kept, with lawn, trees, etc.

The parking was a little inconvenient because you had to maneuver to get out of the parking. It is not a through street—one way in, nearly any room to turn around with parking full of cars.

The room had clearly been updated and it was very clean. The location was great as we could walk to downtown Grass Valley and it was a short drive to the fairgrounds.

The driveway was awkward for exiting by car. There are no gardens nor places to hangout, except your room. However that didn’t matter to us. The AC is loud.

We spent two nights here and went to our nephew's wedding. We chose this place because it was close to the wedding venue, and are so happy we did. The office staff was beyond kind. I went to get ice in the lobby one night and he apologized because he couldn't get me much because the machine was out! Then he immediately told me that he would go to the store when he got off and buy me a bag and bring it to our room!!! What??? We've never had that offered to us anywhere we've stayed before! I told him that was sweet but if he could just give me directions to where I could buy some that would be nice. He gave me perfect directions and I was back in the room in a jiffy with ice! I want to mention right here that we are an elderly couple. My 90 year old husband stayed in the room while I went to get the ice. He was asleep in the wonderful bed when I got back! We stayed up and watched the end of the Greenbay/49ers game on a large screen television! Everything was beyond perfect! We have stayed in many places over our 48 year marriage but this one was the best we remember! We were so impressed with the housekeeping that we left a tip for her and we have never done that before. By the way, she gave us directions to a wonderful breakfast place just down the street that we would have missed if we hadn't known about it! Tofanell's! Eat there if you go to Grass Valley! The room was very clean, the grounds were very welcoming, everyone was very nice and we were very pleased! Well done Sierra Mountain Inn...well done! Oh! One more thing. They had two pillow types in the room, firm and soft! Again! A first for us. So nice as we prefer the softer pillows.

The only thing I would have to mention that bothered us any, was the parking. There were two separate parking lots on the property and no way out other than to turn around in a very tight space and go out the same way to came in. A drive way that circled around would have been very nice plus there was a motorhome parked on the street that we couldn't see around to get back out on the main street. We had to pull all the way out into the right hand lane to see if anyone coming from the opposite direction. That being said, all of the roads in this area were narrow and since we are from northern Nevada with wide open spaces, we probably just weren't accustomed to them. It hardly deterred us from enjoying our stay though.

The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. The reception area is the front of a Clayton little old Victorian, with cabins along the sides of the building. Very small Qwaint, and very charming. I think it’s a perfect place to stay if you’re there for a few days.
