What a nice find. A beautiful and well maintained 1920s hotel, full of local history and flavor. Staff are friendly, obviously motivated. It is very clean and cozy. There are books, puzzles and board games in the lounge. It has a lounge! Real coffee! Super close to shopping, food, etc. It is a welcoming place that you aren't in a hurry to get away from. I feel it's really good value for the money. Will stay again if possible, for sure. Thanks!

I get that it will not have the latest amenities - be prepared for that. Wouldn't be historic then, would it? Mattress is a bit old/soft. Not terrible, just probably at that point of no return. I'm honestly struggling to find anything else :) :) Oh - the free soap bars are pretty tiny, or maybe we could have one or two more :)

Super cool historic property with nicely maintained room with a few upgrades like a nice TV and wi-fi that don’t spoil the charm. We stayed in the historic hotel, not the motor lodge. Comfy bed. Good hot shower. Located right in the middle of Lone Pine and close walk to restaurants and other attractions. If you are expecting a modern chain type motel, you may be disappointed. If you are expecting history, charm, comfort, and top notch staff, you’ll love this place! We do! Convenient ice machine with water bottle filling machine next to it downstairs is a super added amenity. The lobby itself is a work of art! If the weather is nice, don’t miss the quiet hidden courtyard for a relaxing spot.

Really nothing. There are plenty of things a modern traveler could nit pick about a hotel built 100 years ago but you’d be missing the point of staying here. This place is a gem!

I stayed in the historic part of the hotel/motel property and knew it would be old, small rooms, radiator heating, no AC control in room so my expectations were realistic. 100 degree temps outside and the small room was cool. It was spotless, the double bed really comfortable (not a queen), great shower/tub combo. Perfect for one person, fine for two. It is a great value, center of town across from cafes and pizza and really good coffee in the lobby. I read earlier reviews and I think people don't realize what an old hotel is like. This one was wonderful and well cared for.

There was nothing not to like about it.

Very clean, central to restaurants, excellent value for short stays. Staff friendly, and room was quiet, but small. I stayed in the historic section and had my own bathroom. If you were staying longer maybe the motel section might be better if it has coffee makers and a makeup mirror which I didn't have. It didn't bother me as I was just staying overnight. Very Charming little place

A small kettle or coffee maker might be nice but it wasn't essential for me

What was great is that this is an old school hotel/motel in the good way. The main building is a 100 yr old classic that is still vintage but well maintained. Fits the character of the rustic area. The newer buildings offer traditional drive to the door motel setup.

More clear communication about the old vs newer building configuration. I was happy but I could imagine some people might not like the vintage room layout and would like to know.

Nice old historic building with lots of Western movie memorabilia (including a John Wayne "shrine"). Late 50's - early 60's style decor. Clean and comfortable and cozy.

The shower was quite small for me, especially with the soap/shampoo dispensers in the stall. Sink is located separate from the bathroom with relatively little space for toiletries.

Charming place! We stayed in the historic hotel, but newer motel rooms are also available. Our room was very clean. King bed was very comfortable. The windows opened for fresh air. Deep bathtub w/ shower and lots of hot water. There was only one oversized chair, no frig or microwave in the room, but a microwave is available on the 1st floor. Quiet. Good wifi. Very friendly and helpful staff. Location is super. You can walk to several restaurants including The Grill next door (good food & service). We felt very welcomed here. Love this place!

The bed was cozy, room clean and stuff really friendly. Everything was great. Beginning with smooth check-in, comfortable room and perfect location. Room has everything you need - shampoo, conditioner, a bar of soap, towels, TV, mirrors with good lighting. There is coffee service and nice common room to chill.

Bathtub needs an update. But there is no tragedy.

Stayed in the original 1920s hotel section of the Dow, 2nd floor and it gave a feeling how it was when it was built. The color decor, furnishings and fixtures gave it that authentic feel. Rooms were small, as they usually were 100 years ago, just added to historical feel of the stay. The lobby was a time capsule slash museum of sorts.

Not a problem for us but might be for others is heating and cooling systems. At the time of our stay, heating or cooling was not required.

I have stayed here 4 times as a stopping point between San Diego & N Lake Tahoe. It’s always clean, comfortable, and oh so charming. Front desk staff is very friendly and I love all the western movie memorabilia! This time I used the hot tub and although there isn’t an option for bubbles (if you could turn it up I couldn’t figure it out) it was still soothing, hot clean and very full! Another guest I was chatting with told me she thinks this wing of the hotel’s hallway is haunted (near room 216) which only kept me awake a few more minutes than usual ;) then I slept wonderfully. Very peaceful here & no ghosts for me last night but maybe next time! Thank you for another lovely stopover.

It met my expectations as always.
