The location was perfect. Walking distance to everything. Delicious food nearby. Reasonable pricing. The rooms were small but all we needed and appeared to be recently upgraded. I would stay again.

Little loud on Saturday night but it all cuts off at 10pm so not too bad and worth it for the location. I recommend not having a car, if you are staying in the city I wouldn't rent one as there are tons of Uber/lyfts. The parking that exists is extremely limited and they said beginning March 2024 they will not have any parking. You will have to use public parking and the closest one I noticed on my walks was a few blocks away.

The staff at La Pensione Hotel was superb; friendly, professional, nothing is too much trouble. The attached cafe was perfect for breakfast, as the hotel doesn't offer any options. The room (facing the street) was small, but functional and airy. Everything was extremely clean. Surprisingly, for a hotel in the middle of Little Italy, it was very quiet at night.

The lighting in the shower/toilet area could have been better. It was very dark; maybe a higher wattage overhead?

Two things: The staff. They were amazing. I got into SD way earlier than check in so I asked for an early check in, which they granted. I actually showed up a little earlier than early check in to drop off my bags and, to my surprise, they were able to get me in at that time - and the cleaning crew worked extra hard to get the room turned for me. The location. Wow. It is in the heart of Little Italy - the only time I had to Uber was when I went to Petco fir a baseball game. The rest of the time I was able to walk everywhere. Plenty of restaurants and bars nearby and on Saturday there was an amazing flea market right outside the hotel (I could see some of the stalls from my room)

The hotel is a bit older and I think it could use some remodeling/deep cleaning. A gym upgrade would be nice, too. Luckily, I have a friend that lives within in walking distance so I was able to without at his gym.

They were able to hold our luggage before check in and they even extended this courtesy after check out. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I had no idea that that this property was literally in the heart of little Italy. This is the only place I will stay every time I come to San Diego. 10 out of 10!!! Also want to mention the design/paint of the building is gorgeous! Black doors and trim with gray paint and wallpaper. Not an aspect is overlooked!

Absolutely loved the location. It's was cute and quaint hotel. It still needs to updating, repairs on some of the rooms and amenities. The rooms as very small, but fun- especially those overlooking the courtyard. The views of the courtyard could be improved by removing the canopies below so the courtyard was more visible. It would give off a better image of the way things look in Italy. The location was so good.

Some things were broken in the room. The rooms were super small. The canopies in the courtyard unnecessarily blocked the views of rooms facing the courtyard. I recommend removing them.

The staff here was amazing. Everyone was friendly and very helpful. Special shout out to Brandon who checked us in and out. We couldn't have asked for a friendlier or nicer person! The location was also perfect! Steps away from tons of great restaurants, the heart of one of the best farmers markets we've ever been to. Just wonderful spot!

The bathrooms were very small, perfect size to shower and use the facilities. However, such a small space lends it's self to mold, which ours had quite a bit of. The only other issue we had was that the doors only had one deadbolt and no physical latch at the top like most hotels. I was traveling with my husband, so I didn't feel too worried but if I was by myself I would have definitely not felt as safe.

Good location near to local transit centre. When we requested a change of room (see below), we were allocated a new room quickly. No noise from adjacent rooms.

Prefer to have coffee making facilities in our room rather than downstairs. There was no in-room safe. Having pre-requested a quiet room, it was very disappointing to be woken at 4am on our 2nd night as stall holders set up for the farmers market. We recommend that anyone staying at this hotel get a room not on West Date Street on Tuesday or Friday night.

Room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Front staff were wonderful with directions and things to see Location was great, within walking distance of many restaurants and the Harbor

Air was not working first night, but we were promptly moved the next day while it was being fixed. Unaware of what an Urban Boutigue hotel was which are smaller rooms that usual however if you are all about getting out and about and clean and comfortable this is for you

The bedside lights are overdone: 6 bright light bulbs. I had to temporarily unscrew the ones on one side of the bed because it was so bright. Only one of the switches next to the bed (on the right side as you look at the bed) works. It would be nice to have had true reading lights for the bed. There is no switch on the other side of the bed, which if you are two people is inconvenient. Also: modern sockets for plugging in USB-B and USB-C chargers, both at the desk and next to the bed. An inexpensive upgrade.
