Our room was at the end of a corridor which meant we did not hear much noise from other rooms, which was great. It was also a short walk to the gorgeous views of the lake. The location of the hotel couldn't be better.

There were a couple of things in the room that did not work initially - toaster and TV - which was a little inconvenient for a day but the very efficient and friendly manager took care of everything the next day so it worked out fine. However, I do think that the price we paid was a little high for a studio facing the main road and in need of some updating,

Location Location Location! You are just steps away from the lake and surrounding mountainside. Great views, not crowded, low key (not a party place).

Each "room" is owned by an individual and the management in the office takes care of all services. So, the owner of the room I stayed in has not changed the furniture, flooring, or window coverings (it seems) since the 80s. Cheap old stuff and the kitchen was stocked with bare minimum in way of cookware and utensils. The tub in the bathroom had a very slow drain-so that was icky. So, overall, the room needed updating.

My 3 children and I stayed here April 4-6 after using booking.com to book my stay. While booking I asked and payed the price for a lake view studio, not knowing what room that would be in. When we arrived and after settling into our room,we noticed that we didn't have a view of the lake with 8-10 feet of snow right outside our sliding door. After driving 5 hours to get up there from Boulder Creek,we were tired and just wanted to unwind. The room itself was nice and met our needs and the sauna right across the hall was a major bonus! We still enjoyed our stay and when we got back home and rested I brought it to the management's attention about not having a view of the lake that was paid for. They did end up giving a refund and charged the price of a non-lake view room. That was very nice of them! I would advise not using booking.com when reserving since you wont know what room you'll be put in and it's a little trickier getting a refund with a 3rd party in the mix. Overall this place was very nice, clean and staff are nice!

We loved it all!! 11/10 The property is super nice outside so you know once you walk in it’s going to be very nice as well. We walk into our room and it’s so nice the bathroom super clean and filled with towels. The water pressure is perfect and it comes with a heater in the bathroom. It is pretty small but no complaints. The room and kitchen were just perfect let me tell you they have EVERYTHING you need to have in a kitchen. Cups, plates, silverware, pans etc etc everything we needed to make our meals was there. Including soap and a sponge to wash the dishes. It’s has a pretty big couch we didn’t know it was a sofa bed but it was pretty good. The view wasn’t right at the lake but it was still beautiful. I’m telling you it was worth every penny we will for sure be coming back to this place. There are many more things we can rate highly but you will just have to experience it for yourselves ;)

One of the burners from the stove didn’t want to turn on but the others worked perfectly fine

Room was perfect. Spacious with all the amenities, loved the charm. Bed was comfortable and sleeper sofa was very comfortable. Loved the warm fuzzy blankets that were in the room and extra pillows are always a plus. The location was beautiful and super easy to get on and off the freeway. Only 40 min from Reno so it was a perfect place for us to stay. I also likes the larger fridge in the room.

It would of been nice to have some silerware and dishware in the room, even if it was plastic ware. We didnt have any plastic wear to eat our leftovers in our room.

Beautiful location by Donner Lake. We were surprised to discover a nice little sauna as part of the hotel. Room is standard and clean; the mini kitchenette is stocked with plates, bowls, utensils, etc, and a fridge and microwave. Don't miss the Little Truckee Ice Creamery. Great location for various ski resorts in the Donner Summit area, including Royal Gorge (cross country skiing).

Nothing really

Donner Lake is a beautiful little lake. We travelled with our 2 kayaks and 2 bikes and got to use all of them several times. Highly recommend a gentle tour of the lake at dusk, in total tranquility — no wind, no other boats around, lake as calm as a mirror. Biking in the area is a total pleasure as well, especially the Truckee River trail and Tahoe City's excellent Multi Use Trails network. To be perfectly honest we did not spend that much time at the resort itself, but what we saw and used was perfect for our needs. The room itself was not particularly spacious, but it was very well equipped, clean and comfortable. We loved our stay and we will definitely be back.

Honestly, there's not much we could complain about.

We had a lake view in an updated room The room was nicely decorated with an amazing balcony and lake view!! There was a fully stocked new kitchen that was extremely useful. The property was clean and had nice amenities such as a indoor fire sitting area and a 24 hour supply closet for guests to use as needed. The beach and dock area was also very clean and gave us great access to the lake There were picnic tables and BBQs for guest use right next to the lake.. Parking was easy and free

Everything was perfect except for the room not having air conditioning. It was extremely hot the days we stayed. We left the sliding door open but we did not get much relief from the heat We did use the ceiling fan and a portable one in the room. I also would prefer if there was an employee on the property after 6:00pm We had a few problems with our TV but had no one to help us until the next morning

We loved the on Donner Lake location! So nice to stay right on the lake! It was wonderful to sit out on the dock or mini beach to enjoy the lake. The room was comfortable and we enjoyed the cabin theme of the decor. The communal areas were comfortable and had nice seating to enjoy lake views. Room had mini kitchen which was handy. Small balcony was nice.

The room we were in was overall very nice with a cute cabin theme. Cosmetic repairs should be addressed such as cleaning the carpet, mold on some ceiling areas, painting/walls, etc. Our room faced the street and the noise from traffic was quite noticeable. Next time, we would pay more for a room towards the lake to hopefully reduce street noise.

the views are amazing, community rooms/lounges and sauna are a great addition. Not on the premises, but don’t miss a chance to get local ice cream just a few minutes away across the street! Having full kitchen is also amazing.

Applies to the vast majority of hotels/motels around Tahoe: not the most comfortable mattress and pillows. The shower need some TLC and update. Sound insulation is not great.
